Hi there, my name is Noah and I have been making video games with Game Maker since 2008. Here you will find Game Maker Studio tutorials and my own Game Maker creations.
Please subscribe to stay in touch with my work!
I'm sorry if I don't upload too often. I do try to upload some Game Maker stuff from time to time.
Hi GE! Great skills! I hope some real work comes out of this! :) There's one thing that I kinda want to mention. I've been working on a new project, and it was going pretty well. However, today, when I booted up my game and got into a gunfight, my game suddenly crashes without giving me any error messages or compiler messages. The two primary suspects that I thought of are the "A change has been detected in directory X of your project files, do you want to RELOAD or SAVE?", and some short cuts that I use that can potentially affect GameMaker in some way or another. Have you encountered this issue?
Hey, my friend! Thanks for the kind words. I hope so too! That's actually very interesting. I had the same issue with the latest version of Game Maker. It would crash after an arbitrary amount of time. Sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes almost immediately. I downgraded to version 2023 and now it works perfectly again. I am not really sure what caused it in the end (mainly because I didn't see any error messages either) but this is something I encountered as well. Very strange!
Hey, I think I've got a grasp on the basics, but when I export to VB in Blender the window looks a little different from how you have it and I don't see the same settings. Did you use a particular version of the add-on for this video?
You’re my hero right now. Probably insanity but I want to make a 3D game in GMS2 since I own the old license still and found your videos while trying to see if it’s possible and you’re giving me a lot of hope even though I realize it’s gonna be a lot more difficult than I can probably comprehend at the moment.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I watched your video and it got me started with setting up the basic 3D world. I had lots of trial and error with the Blender plug-in but eventually I figured it out, as well as with the shader (yours didn't work for me for some reason) so I followed a tutorial elsewhere and now I have basically a simple 3D engine, honestly couldn't have done it without this video so thank you
Although unecessary and more complicated, for the clamp that happens at 4:10 I usually like to change the cameras up vector to the x and y the camera was already pointing and a z of 0, it feels cleaner in game to me
Thanks! Still working on it believe it or not. Progress has been super slow as I started a fulltime job in november last year. But I did finish the main menu two days ago so it's definitely still going!
Ive done 3d in gamemaker, I have a good idea what it takes to make something like this. It's very impressive, but also look up raylib. I imagine it wouldn't even be all that hard to port what you have over to it. I love gamemaker, but with this it's holding you back.
Are there game designers here looking for work? I’ll pay for the estimate. Wanting to get funding and make a game, after I get an estimate of initial costs.
Snark attack in 3..2..1.. I loved these sneak peaks, and can't wait to see a proper showcase. I also do wonder how much time did all this take because you had to make everything from scratch; engine and all...
SInce learning GML I couldn't understand why earlier versions were able to code with D3D and not studio 2.0. I have a basic knowledge of shaders and this opened up a whole new perspective in using them. Happy to see the translation you supplied here with great detail in using veC with the camera. So many videos I run into always saying "if you wnat 3d use a different engine". Thank you for this enlightning video. Please update us on your learning path as you go I would be very greatful.
I am glad to hear it. I hope you found it somewhat useful. I will always try to encourage people to give making a 3D game in Game Maker a shot. No matter how difficult or inconvenient it is :)
@@GamingEngineer I want to make a game that should be very easy for you. I just want to make a 3D scenario with horizontal scrolling. I need 3D constructions in a manga style. I don't know how to do it yet.
Anyone is having trouble exporting from blender with the latest DmrVBM export version? For some reason it doesnt draw the model texture, it works with the previous DmrVBM version tho so i might be a bug. Also excelent tutorial, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I am too. For some reason the model is loaded as a mess of colorful triangles, instead of the solid color/texture. Not sure whats happening but it's frustrating
