Our mission at NRS is to provide the equipment, inspiration and expertise that empower adventures on the water. We deliver on that mission with outfitter-grade equipment and apparel built for ultimate utility in the wild, and we work to create original video content that educates, inspires and entertains.
NRS was born in 1972 when Bill Parks, an idealistic college professor and avid river runner, set out to prove that the principles he taught in the classroom could work in the real world. Bill believed that business could be about more than making a profit-that it could be a source of value and satisfaction for its employees and the communities it serves, and a force for good in the world. Headquartered in Moscow, Idaho, we are committed to the stewardship of clean, healthy waters and are 100% employee owned.
This will definitely be my next pfd. I tried one on at Winni River Days this weekend and it fits way better than any pfd I’ve ever worn. I wish it was available in orange.
I have a gash that is about 2 inches long. Immediately next to the fin is attached to the board. Mine is the body glove performer. It’s an older model and the fins look like they’re just glued or attached to the board. They don’t come out. the rip is right next to where those are attached the board the only way to patch. It is going to be with a patch that goes from the soft flexible material of the board and then go onto the hard plastic of the fit itself. I don’t know if if that’s even possible.
Great adventure and excellent video, thank you for sharing. Always interesting to hear from the local Hopi and Navajo how these changes have really affected them over time. We really need to evaluate the next 100 years before moving forward with a new river contract in 2026. Securing the Navajo their promised share of all this water being wasted for profit downstream is critical after all this time and what Glen Canyon Dam did to the area.
Hi! Please email service@nrs.com with some photos of what you are working with and one of our Customer Experience Specialists will be able to assist you further!
Such a relief to roll up after being flipped in an eddy line or rapid. My best advice is to have a step by step plan for the roll and practice talking yourself through those steps. When an eddy line flips you over focus on following the steps, roll up, then worry about the river.
Hi! If the gasket is inside out, that is fine. If it is upside down, there might be issues. Please feel free to email service@nrs.com with some photos and we'll be happy to take a further look.
While not always necessary, or possible, to have the boat inflated when applying patches, folks can often find the process to be easier when the tubes are inflated.
Really great to see this stuff. One thing I never did get about tying the paddles to the thwart for portaging. I've tried it, and it's very comfortable but predominantly I just use a portaging thwart. Since I've only ever fallen while carrying a canoe with a portaging thwart, I can't quite understand how safe or dangerous it might be to fall while carrying one with lashed paddles. In any event, a portaging thwart can be hand-made out of wood just like the overall canoe itself, so it seems like it would be compatible with the keewaydin ethos.
I knew there was a camera crew but, I had no idea this film was even in existence. My husband, BILL Gribbb, who spoke os JWPowell was a god, was part of this expidition. He was very sick at this time..and I was very concerned about him taking this trip. Tom and crew took good care. I had no idea this film was dedicated to him. He would be so humbled. I am so proud. Thank you, Tom Minckley, for your kind gesture.
Interesting…. I made a comment of the unsafe technique of shoulder yoke using paddles for the portage, sticking neck into a box. Comment was removed from your list! Video shows lady with neck stuck and canoe falling to ground. There is a safe way to do this!
Your promo videos and website for this are nice and all, but what I really want to know before I commit is how many rivers in my area (Connecticut) are actually in the system? It looks like a great app, but it's only useful if it's really really loaded with data for rivers everywhere, not just certain rivers. For instance, American Whitewater has almost nothing for my state.
The name and description within the video and your web site are terribly confusing! I think you have *two* separate items, which just happen to be sold together: A quick-change pad, with enclosing sides (great idea!) -- *and* a conventional duffle bag. Correct? I'll bet if you make this cleaerer to potential buyers, and offer the quick-change pad as an optional solo item, you will sell a lot more.
Re-entry post expedition can be the most enduring chapter of the entire experience. Communicating what you just lived to others often falls on def ears. This was a magnificent capture of what a journey like this can mean. More people to the river is all that stands in the way.
Great info, thanks. I've got PVC tubes and the tape/band that holds the tubes to the rigid hull have come away. I was thinking to use acetone to clean and g-flex to bond. Is that what you'd do?
This video is so special to me! I’m from Albany as well, Husum was my first waterfall and I had the same line my first time, and Alzheimer’s has had huge affects on my family as well. This honestly means so much as a kayaker, thanks for sharing!
they're not the same thing, low brace is a preventive stroke you use to support your balance when needed, low recovery is used to recover your position when you are capsizing
Nice that they had a drone documenting some of this. My wife and I stayed in Monterosso a few years back and took the local shuttle boat to Vernazza then hiked the trail back. Would love to kayak there, but I would not want to have to lug all that gear around!
Hello! You can wear these in combination with the Boundary Boots, however this does make for 8mm of neoprene which is quite a lot of insulation. Please feel free to give us a call at 877-677-4327 to discuss this further.
