Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The way you explain stuff is like no other. I'm so glad I stumbled onto your lessons. The way you break things down anyone can understand. I really like your laid back style of teaching. Thanks again.
Just answer me this question please 🙏… If student and professional saxophones sound the same, why we don’t see any musician playing on student saxophones ? I have never seen any professional player using a student saxophone in their concerts or shows.
Hi, first of all I wanted to congratulate you on the very interesting videos!! question I'm trying to play only the mouthpiece but I always get the same note and I don't know how to change it even by changing the throat setting, can you help me? Thank you
Interesting! I liked the 5 the most, 80% of the time, but the 4.5 was more consistent while still being closer to the sound. 4 even more so. I'm a clarinetist though so my sound ideas are probably different lol
Yup. I've played metals from Guy Hawkins, Bergs, Link STM, Beechler Bellite, SR TECH, Runyon, Wolfe Wayne, Meyer, Lakey, Rousseau, on and on for 35 years. And each time I listened to a recording of myself, I got so mad, because my sound was still the same. I finally just settled on a Runyon Quantum and Beechler Bellite 10. Because they were loud, easy to blow, and never tried me out. Blew at least a thousand dollars in all those years. I bought the "deals" mostly from eBay. Never spent more than $129 on a mouthpiece. I should've listened to Don Menza.
I've been trying to reach Cameron by email or any other means....but it seems like he's dropped off of public view-- no current posts or current connections to his web site are working. Looking for an update if possible...
I've listened to both the curved and straight neck C-Melody Saxs (Can I call it a Contralto Sax?) and like the straight neck sound better. More alto-y, but in a pleasant contralto register. Like Dianne Reeves, Diana Krall, Karen Carpenter. Very nice.
Facts because I play a John Packer Tenor (I know cheap horn but I'm broke) but I play professionally so I figured I'd try a YTS 62 iii maaaann the difference was night and day. It was crazy how much better the 62 played and more free blowing paired with my STM 7*.
You have some excellent advice. I currently play a John Packer Alto that I bought for 200 bucks. It's a beast so I am considering upgrading. After watching this video no longer an intermediate horn or a shiny new one either. Thank you
Best (used) saxophones for begginers that offer excellent construction, ergonomics. intonation and value for money are ; 1. Yamaha 275 2. Jupiter 787/789
From a personal standpoint, this particular C Melody Saxophone would be the actual Contralto Female Voice type. Obviously the Alto is supposed to be technically, and the Mezzo-Soprano Sax is the Mezzo-Soprano Female Voice equivalent. For me I guess the Alto Sax is just a RICH, Dark, Mezzo-Soprano instrument and Voice type, while the C Melody Sax is the actual equivalent to the Contralto Female Voice. Substituting the "C" Melody as "Contralto Melody" You play Awesome!! Great Video👍🏾👍🏾
Thoughts on the Jean Paul begginer alto Sax and Sakkusu beginner Alto Sax? Ive been saving up to buy one of them (complete beginner, i r never seen one in real life, i dont think ive seen anyone from my state playing the saxophone, I live in a small state in India)
Thanks for this video. I see that you stopped uploading, I want to encourage you to continue. It's hard to acknowledge that, but we have to practice routinely. I'm coming back after a long break and your videos help me get in the right mental state. Unfortunately it's hard to practice the saxophone before/after work because it will disturb the neighbors (especially sound work)
Thank you ! Love your honest report as I’m in the market to go from hiring a sax to purchasing one, but a Tenor not an Alto, love the full bodied sound of a Tenor Sax. 👍
Or, there's the other way...get the Yamaha 480 along with a Custom neck (V1, G1, C1, whatever one's preference) and you end up with a better sounding instrument than the 62 for less money, imho. Unfortunately Custom necks won't fit the 280.
