As Jagerardi wrote, back in 2005 a former snare drummer was inspired by "Burn The Floor", which started their signature dance moves. It was also the same year that they got the idea to compete for the annual Rose Bowl Parade. Believe it or not, but all the dance routines are choreographed by the students.
This a video from the movie Burn The Floor but most of the comments (English ones) are about KT SHS Orange Devils, the most entertaining marching band 😅👏👏👏
Dancers... are often in great shape, but often exhibitionists, gayish and decadent, too. Kyoto Tachibana are disciplined, decent, proper, and most of them qualify as (semi) pro musicians - their shows are much better!
@@byronarnason6006 first time I watched them, they blew my mind. I love how Japan not only survived Godzilla, they prospered and made the culture of their conquerors their own.
At first glance, it appears that KT has adopted Western Culture. Nearly all of their music is from the West, their instruments are nearly all Judeo-Christian, their clothing and style are Western. Even the Tangerine Orange dye is a product of the West. The entire concept of marching bands is Western. Professor Hiramatsu, however, embodies all of the great Japanese attributes. KT is his "baby". He is an erudite, selfless, pioneering spirit whose forsight and courage spawned KT. A great man indeed! Interestingly, the two KT leaders who followed Professor Hiramatsu were deeply religious. The first was the Chief Priest (Shinto? or Buddist?) and the second was his devoted disciple. This supports my suspicion that KT did NOT arise from simple crass motives of profit or notariety. Its foundation and origin is deeply spiritual and purely Japanese. KT has simply adopted the best that the West has to offer and done it manyfold times better than any other country. My beloved history teacher in HS, Mr. Matsueda, was interned in FDR's concentration camps as a child. It was a fact that he hid from all his students until his death. Professor Hiramatsu reminds me of my teacher. KT truly is Japan's greatest gift to the world, a labor of love and sacrifice blossoming with elegance, harmony and beauty.
@@byronarnason6006 The entire war was sad because so many suffered because the adults could not act like adults & each only wanted what they wanted regardless of the price to all. KT is the best of the best & should be held high as a way for the whole world to be.
Not forgetting that they are not professionally trained dancers and have to learn and memorized all the moves AND the music sequences in the 3 years of their high school. They deserve all the recognition and praises thats been heaped on them......BRAVO!!
