I like this battle theme. Also this is just my opinion but i feel like some of the star ocean games suffer from slow attack speed. Star ocean divine force fixed that, making the attack speed much better.
I absolutely love how the theme starts "announcing" an impossible challenge, a demi-god, an unbeatable foe, yet later in 3:05 it sounds like 'you faced many challenges throughout this game, this is the biggest, yet final one. Go for it!', the later transition to 'climatic battle' makes this even better
i absolutely despised this game up until i just stopped trying to take the story and character seriously, and accepted how ridiculously fun it is. Not to mention how underrated the importance of battle themes are, for how much time you spend with them in the background in your standard jrpg. Glad they nailed this one.
ngl in my first playtrough it may have visually overstimulated me to an certain extend, but besides that, it’s hard to imagine that a game will ever tops this monster of an prologue, like… it’s just too perfect. Kamiya really must have been brewing like a beast or some while development to creat sth like that💀
I so wish Nintendo had sprung to license the vocal track for Smash Bros, but I can't blame them if it was way more expensive or complicated than you might guess.
