I'm going to follow a course I created in Garmin Connect with Turn Notifications turned on. Will the watch automatically provide turn by turn directions, or is that something that also has to be switched on somewhere on the watch itself?
@babsschloss there is I believe and option to turn on, however around the bezel of the watch appears, during nav, an arrow that points to your path- so with the map it’s clear. Are you hiking or biking or other?
The Apple Watch Ultra, no question about it. It is so much more versatile. You get much more for your money. Unless you are a really ambitious athlete, then a Garmin can definitely offer more.
@@lowflyingpigeon7956 will indeed make one tomorrow . I always wonder what to post, what will people watch , so this will be my first request- I’ll do my best- all being well - tomorrow
Funny you should ask . Nope, sold due to getting plantar fasciitis, however, I’ve started to wean myself back into barefoot shoes and I want to buy another pair
@@kernowoutdoors Thanks. Funny thing, I took my Flash apart and put it back together and presto, the igniter clicks again and sparks! And thanks much for the tip regarding the pin. I was able to secure it again properly with a little wiggle and twist. Cheers!
Thank you so much! I've had the bag for a while and I've never gotten the chance to use the day bag. Now that I had to, I didn't know how to use it. This video was real helpful and I never even knew about the flap that covers the top of the bigger portion. You learn something new everyday! :)
This was helpful, once you realise that its just the buckle that goes through the loop its easy. I was looking for some other strap to go through the buckle. Why they didn't just use the standard fastening clips used everywhere else I don't know
I have the Apple Watch Ultra 2 . Yes, it is a great smart watch but it is no comparison to a Garmin when it comes to fitness tracking. For that reason I went back to my Garmin Venue . If you are serious about fitness training then no question about it, you should go with a Garmin.
Went from Fenix 7x and Android, to an iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra 2, had it for a few days and sold it and bought another Android and a Garmin Epix Pro 2 and couldn't be happier.
The Fenix will work fine with an Iphone. The only feature that doesn't work to my knowledge is you can't respond with pre-made responses with an Iphone due to Apple not allowing 3rd parties access to this feature.
I hope for next Epix with Calling. Not need cellular, as bluetooth speaker would be great. Instead I prefer Garmins just because not so smart - so I can concentrate on sport or recovery and not to be disturped by all that notifications and apps.
Then you will have more worse battery life than the AWU for sure. Garmin has no communication capability’s. Makes it very easy to safe battery. Same for blood oxygen. And the not so bright display. Fake battery life. Hearing some music on my Garmin usually leads to less battery time than on my Apple Watch Ultra.
I got my Garmin and the Garmin connect is hard to get ....I guess time will fix it, but so far apples just the easiest to navigate and it does Data to you better than how Garmin gives you the Data with Athlytic app, and work outdoors, and the apple watch ultra 1 just feels like a better watch... you don't have to fidget with looking for stuff which is highly annoying on Garmin but this may just be me needing time to get use to the Garmin, you will see what I mean after spending the grand for the titanium watch. I would be pissed if I had bought a more expensive watch with the way it gives me data.... it would be sent back. I wear both my watches and to my surprise the heart rate and most everything is almost spot on. even all sleep stages are with in 5 to 20 minutes different so far. I can't tell you one is better than the other this is my opinion and wear both apple and a Garmin watch daily. The Garmin 965 is a outstanding watch but to me it feels like a cheap child's toy, plastic, and flimsy bands and I don't get that with any of the Apple watches,(I have not tried a more expensive Garmin watch yet made of Titanium, and Sapphire so those may feel better but for 600 bucks that's still enough to have had a Titanium case and sapphire lens on the 965!!!!!!) plus I have already scratched the screen in the first week. I probably should have bought the more expensive Epix or Fenix pro, but the way I see the data I DO NOT LIKE and would have already returned it.(it still may require time to learn it.) These are my opinions, and your use may yield a different outcome than mine. I hope this helps anyone on the fence. O and one other thing I do like apples maps and navigation better it's more streamline and it does not lag and take time to populate other areas of the map when loading new tiles, no lag at all on apple watch ultra 1 the Garmin lags badly I am not sure if it's only the 965 or all of them.
Well, with recent leaks, it looks like they are combining the Fenix and Epix line into the new Fenix 8 coming out later this year. Stay patient and see what they do.
apple hands down, I wear both though apple watch ultra 1 and Garmin 965 batteries in the back country don't make a sh$t to me I carry battery chargers with me so battery has never been an issue! I'm not lazy like the lot of you claim to be runners but complain about charging a watch LOL apple watch is the most popular watch ever so bite on that .......my Garmin will be for sale before long.
For the people complaining about tne battery life on the Apple they only on 2nd gen I’ll say 2/4 days out of a watch that can do 90 of what a smartphone can do is a win eventually Apple will get much better
As an owner of both an Epix 2 and an AWU - I can say that there is nothing the Garmin does that the AWU cannot do aside from battery life - but plenty the AWU does that the Garmin cannot. A simple app like WorkOutdoors or Athlytic give you offline mapping, live routing, body battery, readiness etc. The HR sensor, GPS and sleep tracking are all more accurate on the AWU also. I've solved the battery life issue (for the rare times it's truly an issue and not just a mental one), but carrying a tiny wireless charger battery bank which can charge the AWU 3 times over (for a total battery life of 8 - 12 days) when I'm doing multi-day trips. A simple pop onto the charger at a lunch stop or at night and its fully charged back up in 30 minutes.
I have both. The Ultra 2 is a smarter watch for everyday "urban and weekend sports"" use, and it looks fantastic. The Epix is an all around sports pro watch with a more classic look. I love both. Great video!
I don't know why these two watches are even compared they are for 2 different users!! the epix is a sports watch period apple is a all of the above! with more accurate metrics! I have both one on each arm the 965 and apple watch ultra because I use them both for different things!
I own Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Fenix 7 pro. This is a tough choice, that is why I use both lol. When I head to the Mountains to hike, go camping/backpack Garmin ALL day. BUT in town/city Apple ALL day. With AWU I can just leave my phone behind and go for a run. It’s nice to only carry a watch and have my podcast, music, make calls/text. I find I’m more prone to run by having the Apple Watch. If I HAD to choose just one device, it would be Apple Watch Ultra. It’s just so convenient. The workout apps are much more intuitive, music is less clunky, better sleep tracking and heart rate and I don’t need my phone. I can get navigation and maps through apps such as WorkOutDoors and Footpath so it can function like a Garmin. The ONLY 3 things that are better on the Garmin is GPS maps ,battery life and data. Everything else seems better on AW. All that being said, even with the Apps on Apple Watch Ultra the Garmin is still a far superior watch for hiking. If you are someone who hikes, backpacks, camps and goes on adventures on a regular basis, the Garmin, in my opinion, is a far superior device. I love both watches.
Update: I found a really good deal on an Epix pro 51mm and sold the fenix 7 pro. The battery life is great, screen is great and maps are better. I only use the Apple Watch Ultra for the gym or runs when I don’t want my watch. Everything else I wear the Garmin. I’m excited to take it on my next hike. My only gripe is I wish it was tad brighter for outdoors and it has “lag” on wrist gesture and some navigating on watch. Other than that, it’s great. No regrets!
@@Mdogbrown thanks for your reply- yeah there are some great deals out there. I have to say, gimmick or not, I love the flashlight on the epix pro et al, especially when on trails staying in hostels - it’s right there so you can pack your gear quickly and efficiently without a big torch etc …
Initially I sold the garmin, 5 months later I bought another epix and sold the Apple Watch. 🤷🏻♂️ they say the Apple Watch x(10) is a massive redesign, so we will see!!! :-)
