So many great riffs for warming up, I’ve noticed Malmstreen doesn’t make lists for warm ups, in my mind there is a lot of great warm up riffs in his library. No, I don’t play anywhere close to his speed.
I dont wven like listening to Sabbath playing my songs that randy did anymore after jearing jis ways of playing them. Its like listening to begginer then advanced and dont wanna go back to hearing begginer ever again Randy raised the standard on tonys stuff so high and he didmt even like the stuff. Definitely dodore thn justice with them made em a whole new thing that tony couldnt even play himself. Of i listen to those songs i only wanna hear them on the Randy Rhoades live tribute album or not at all perood!!
The Ventures didn’t play Pipeline - is that what he was playing? Doesn’t matter. Great and under appreciated guitarist, now it seems like he’s a great guy! He gets lost because everybody wants to see Heart as a female band, but it was two people primarily, Fisher and AnnWilson.
Absolutely agree with your reflection towards the end of the video. If you don't know the original parts, then deviations are not musical choices, I think. Not a matter of right or wrong but of awareness.
wow, yeah; the entire sonic hook of this song is how there's always that beat of silence after each snare hit from all the other instruments. miss that and it turns to generic mush
awesome having done it a bunch as the guitar player in a one guitar band it was never going to really be dead-on but one thing that i did do that made a big difference was in fact re-tuning! i'd drop the hi E to D and the A down to G, rendering open G tuning on the first five strings. the low E now clashed so i couldn't play it, accomplishing the same thing as removing that string now that i was functionally playing five strings in open G all my licks and chords sounded "right" even if they weren't always identical to the record, my fingers naturally landed on stuff that sounded kind of like keith sounded so the feel was still there (super-helped that the band was awesome, with a bass player who knew to lay out on the verses and a drummer who both nailed the weird cowbell part and did the "gradually speed up" thing)
We learned a song as accurately as possible then we tended to add more detailed drive and also added new parts to be snappier. You want to hear bands play a song wrong, try “Fast As You” covers.
"make it your own" ≠ half-assing it from memory, and more cover bands need to understand that if they want to actually be good at their job and make more money either deconstruct the song and turn it inside out so you really _do_ make it your own (think Cake's version of "i will survive", it's in the same key but that's about it) or do your homework then get up there and _nail_ it in both cases it's about actually _doing the work_
I think it's funny that musicians who criticize famous musician's ability don't typically have millions of fans paying serious money to hear them play.
Spot-on album review. I bought this cd back when it came out. Still have it in my collection. There were a lot of great bands hitting the scene around that time. Grunge was popular, but metal was still very much alive and kicking. Pantera led the charge. Europe as well. Other noteworthy bands/albums of that era are: SUPERIOR "Behind", CONCEPTION "Parallel Minds", HYDROTOXIN "Oceans", TREASURE LAND "Questions", and TRIVIAL ACT "Mindscape".
Yeah, he does suck. Drums aren’t even my main instrument and this groove is easy as hell, no matter how long I’m playing it for. Ringo’s not even a top 100 drummer of all time. Most overrated ass band ever.
You should seriously consider puting together a really dark and gritty album based off this vibe. I loved this- all the way to all those little details creeping in. Keep it up ❤
