I’m starting a PhD in medieval literature at the University of York soon, but I love reading all kinds of books, though! Two of my favourites are ‘The Starless Sea’ by Erin Morgenstern and ‘The Name of the Wind’ by Patrick Rothfuss (I definitely recommend them- they’re both fantasy and they’re both wonderful.) I love romance novels and books you can really get lost in!
I absolutely LOVED this book, I’m a 12 year old girl (I know I’m young) and I am pretty mature, I understood the book completely. I read a lot and I read this book for hours straight and finished it in two days, I’m reading the second book right now and it's even better! I don't why i liked it so much but it is one of my favorites
My favorite book of all times. "Piranesi" means the world to me. It is my therapy read every time I need to be comforted or I need the words to express the essence of my soul.
Am Charles, I love your analysis, as a teacher of English literature in Kenya. I find it interesting to interact with your video analysis and share your thoughts with my students. Thank you
I love this books sooooooo much and when i saw the movie I was so disapointed because it was so much different and they didn't even show the most important moments
I actually loved the book. The charakters were all really good in my opinion. I also liked the flashbacks really well and I think the story was good conected with the flashbacks. What you said with the chapter endings i just realized now but i agree with this. Thank you for your opinion❤ and sorry for bad englisch
2:57-3:01 You don't know how much joy i got when you said That, too many people sadly Women & men as well seem Think if bad things happen To men it means nothing For 1 thats just a incredibly Sexist attitude to have & the other thing is everyone Is human men & women Why do people feel the Need to divide people By their gender?? Or say That bad things happening To people (Men) mean less Because they aren't a woman?? It just feels Like a game is being Played, instead of Acknowledging bad Things, what it is Make "certain traits" Like they are only For certain people When people as Individuals aren't Always going to Be that way. I feel like men & Women have both Been brainwashed Into being at odds With each other instead of people Coming together, people Just divide more & more. Also women getting powers Is cool my problem is they Don't use their abilities For good almost none of them & don't use it responsibly I'm noticing a tremd with Stories like this in modern Entertainment where female Characters don't use their Abilities for good, they use it For selfish reasons or quote On quote empowerment Which is just getting revenge On "evil men".
I Found this book to just Be sexist against men it feels like its Mocking Men & is just swapping Women into a position of power with a stupid concept That makes no sense Also i see many comments Saying that this story is about How "power Corrupts" when it's just about women getting Power & ruling over men It's blatantly feminist propaganda & that's why I hate it because any story With this ideology is going To be badly written it also fails to Acknowledge the nuance Of humanity and that Not everry person is Black and white people Change tp either being Good or bad the story Just makes everything Cartoonish especially the men In the book.
I’m reading 1Q84 for the second time and I’m loving every word of it. I am actually listening to it on Audible and I love how it was produced with the three different narrators, one for each major character. Aomame and Tengo become your best friends while reading this as your taken into this world. I love Fuka-Eri and her story of the little people. I don’t agree that it moved too slowly. Each chapter dug you in deeper to each of there journeys which eventually tie into each other. It’s like someone’s spoon feeding you something delicious. Each chapter is a mouth full. I just subscribed to your channel after hearing your review. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day. J
Thank you for describing the book properly .. fantastic book .. enjoyed every single page, sentence and describtion of it .. You're an angel by the way ..
Hi I’m really really late to the party. I love the films and admit to haven’t read any of the books so got myself a second hand copy of the book set I like your video x
I do think the book would have benefited from including a Trans character. Not for the sake of adding diversity for diversity sake, but because this particular story glossed over some important aspects of gender … which is pretty important in a book that’s all about gender.
It's so weird seeing this because I stayed in Ainsty for three years, from 2002 until 2005, and the layout and style of the flat is still EXACTLY the same. I was in Block B, Flat 6, second room on the left when coming out of the kitchen. Major blast from the past. Thank you for feeding my nostalgia 😂
Now I've not read the book, so forgive me (I'd like to get it, but the rape scenes are giving me hesitation. I think if do get and read it, I'll have to skim and skip) But it sounds to me like the horror element was played up a bit too much, and lesson of equality and power reveals gets a bit lost because of it. Like one or two rape scenes would have been enough to get the point across. But any more past that, in a book that size, seems more like it's a distraction from the plot than it is an amplifier. It's like in some anime or horror movies when a body will bleed far more than what is normal. The recent trailer for the series really interested me, as the music, tone, and editing looked very empowering. I hope the series will do a bit better with the horror elements, as I think the whole plot and message is really neat. :)
Hey, this review is very appreciated. I had to read this book for my Uni class (I'm studying creative writing) and I only got in 1/4 of the book, but I found it boring and need to write my essay with accuracy. I'm so glad I found it boring because I didn't have to get as far as you described of what takes place. I hate this story 0% would recommend. Sorry to all the souls that read this garbage.
hi, i also have the uk version but some of the chapter pages are half blank and I'm not sure if there's meant to be something there. i got it from waterstones so I don't think its a mistake or anything but is it the same in yours? page 211 as an example
There are a few mature themes and there are a few trigger warnings potentially, so I'd suggest looking them up to check whether you'd be comfortable reading about those topics, but I'd suggest that for any reader!
Reading this for my English class, for our final we are writing an essay and are supposed to connect the concepts in the book to gamification, transparency, and panopticism.
It’s was people want unfortunately. They celebrate shite like this, and then are celebrated. Authors like the author of this book, don’t want to create equality, they’d rather make the other sex feel weak to make themselves feel better. It’s pathetic. Writing books TV shows and films will only create a future generation where they feel obligated to subjugate the other sex. Equality in media these days is a freaking joke.
