It’s so unfair that God puts aside so much talent for geniuses like her and none at all for people like me! And I mean it in the nicest way possible! One of my most favorite concerts ever was Norah Jones’s performing at the Theatre at MSG in NYC where she too played the piano like it wasn’t a separate instrument but something attached to her being. Still gives me goosebumps to this day when I remember that night.
When her voice is joined with full orchestra it is heavenly. I can't helped being drowned by the beautiful melodies and counter melodies. Her vocal intepretation is superb! Her giving notes there full value and sometime extra uncover meaning the composer was unaware. Her ability to make her voice sound like an instrument, her vibrato, low notes, resonance, truly devine!...not to forget the orchestration is so beautifully written and performed..
Maria Elena Escobar is a great name. First time ever to hear the actual song. I did not know it existed. I've grown up listening to the instrumental version and loved it. Now I finally come full circle. Nat King Cole singing it with his unique musical voice is heaven!
I listen to him playing the piano this afternoon it was exceptional. But to me the greatest instrument that Nat possessed was his voice & singing in Spanish didn’t deter.
Not possible to sing that good. I read that Earl Hines, upon hearing her for the first time said, "Am I dreaming or is that child singing?" Thanks for the post.
