That "hiding diamonds in walnuts" scheme could've just as easily been a clever way to surprise his wife with them as presents or something of that nature.
If you didn't find this movie all that great, you might better enjoy the original Uncle Scrooge/Donald Duck comic book adventures by Carl Barks, he did some really funny and really entertaining stuff, take a look at Only A Poor Old Man and Back to the Klondike and you'll see some of the heights. More plot, better characterization, and tons of adventure! It'll show you that these characters truly did deserve their own movie, even if the one we got wasn't up to snuff. And don't even get me started on The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa! Now that's another masterpiece!
@DeepDiveDisney You Should watch The Three Aladdin Movies, All 86 Episodes Of Aladdin The Series And All 25 Episodes Of Iago The Parrot Short Series From 1995.
This is one of my favorite movies growing up. I was totally Halley Mills on the front porch. Was I jealous of that handsome new man or the lovely redhead? And those dresses at the end for the dance!
I remember watching this when I was very, very little. I remember being happy, sad, and scared. The cartoon parts were full of encouragement to hang in there and things will turn out okay. and then it had a BIG happy ending at the end. I remember crying with happiness at the end. I am so glad to see it again. Maybe you needed to watch this with some little kids.
The movie is NOT RACIST. There is an old saying about "being the black sheep of the family". And then when they are dancing, you dirivisly say, "white people". I think you are the one a bit obsessed with race. These are rural people with a rural culture.
Fun fact about Magic Journeys and that Witch scene. When they brought the film over to Florida. The CMs and installation team had no good way to sync the attraction's audio. And keep in mind they had to play the film for Kodak's executives in the theatre that day in a few hours. So they had to play the film about a good few times trying to line up the audio to when the Witch would shoot lightning out onto the audience. That was the best place to tell if the audio was synced. So they had to play from the start and try multiple times to get the audio right. It was down to the wire and they might have ended up having to manually add blank frames before the film started. Because the computers would take too long to get it perfect. Something about burning E-Proms and the fact it took several minutes for a slight change. This story can be heard on RetroWDW's Podcast on the show. When you hear these stories of Behind the scenes. The film starts to click and you get start to get it. :D
When this came out, my brother and I were 11 & 12 going to seperate private boarding schools and we were like "Lets pretend we are in An Extremely Goofy Movie!" Also, I wish there was a real place called THE BEAN SCENE. This is also the movie that got me in to ska music!
I still have this movie on my VHS and i had this movie since I was 5 years old this movie made me love music and the characters 🤠Cowboys and western frontier Towns and farms 🚂trains, 🐎horses 🐑sheep
I watched this movie and in my opinion i didnt like the animation, but if this was gona be i animated series, know makes sense, most of the people hate this second movie because of the animation. Because everyone was already use to the first movie animation, that will give this series a big success if they use the first animation from the movie.
Yeah, it makes senses Atlantians can understand something they can't read. Everyone in America speaks English, but 21% of adults can't read . . . And 54% of adults can't read above a 6th grade level, which means only 25% of Americans can read above a 6th grade level . . . Some times I wish I could go back in time, being able to read at a college level, 100 years or more into the past, I'd be hailed as a super genius, with that comes an easy access to wealth and luxury :D 1, 2, 9 "You skipped a few . . ." Hey, I'm gonna give you to the count of ten, to get your ugly, yella, no-good keister off my property, before I pump your guts full of lead! . . . 1, 2, 10! XD
tell me why it is not on Disney plus? I did see most of it on RU-vid a few years ago, and listened to the audio book so I know the story -- I liked it a lot -- the original name was ___ and Midnight (the sheep -- they renamed the boy and sheep in the film) I always liked the cartoon sheep in this film.
You kind of missed the whole point of the film. This was one of Walt’s favorite projects as it mirrored his childhood in many ways. Growing up in a very religious family in the country - Walt here presents multiple snippets of some Bible stories in animation that were stories he heard as a child where the underdog did what they could with what they had - and were successful - David and Goliath, Joshua blowing down the walls of Jericho - and the film even started out with a very beautiful animated Nativity scene. One of the big themes of the movie is the power of - and the reliance of these poor people - on prayer - and how Prayer helped them, this is something that Walt was quoted as saying he had “a lifelong reliance on prayer”, so what makes this movie so special is that Walt conveyed a lot of his own personal beliefs and life experiences and his own personal habits - into the story of this film. Also - the people who made it - it’s an epic list, the legendary Ub Iwerks ! Hench, Mary Blair - Mel Torme singing on some songs - and the iconic Burl Ives, Mr. Frosty the Snowman himself, here in a lead role. It’s really a very unique, and different film from Walt - and it was very dear to Walts own heart.
The Mother was played by Dorothy McGuire who was also in 'Swiss Family Robinson'. One of my favorite movies is 'The Castways', even the special effects are old and unrealistic.
