I run with a D1 delay as well. I find i dont actually use all the goodies that it has to offer. Walrus Audio is a great liitle boutique pedal company. They stand by their product.
how do you hook up both units? I want the Iridium for amps and the stomp for modulation and interface. I also want to disable the iridium every now and then just to use the stomp with other amps. how does the wiring go? thanx
@@drewroze4168 it helps a lot thank you. Hope you don't mind, just one more question. The DC cable that runs from the power brick to the Ojai, is it a standard 5.5 X 2.1 mm centre negative or is it a completely different size and polarity?
Hey Kevin, that’s like 90% a patch on the ZOIA called Loop Forrest! And then a very subtle delay from the D1 to further emphasize with much less prominent repeats. Again, most of the heavy lifting was coming from the ZOIA. The thing is, it’s very sporadic and can sometimes wrong away with brief foul sounds. So I’ve been hunting down a way to recreate it but with more control. I pretty much nailed it with the pitch shifting of the Thermae into a more ambient and glitchy delay from the Specular tempus. With that set up the glitchy octave noises always stayed in key and were a lot more reliable! Either way, I’m sure there’s other ways to achieve it that don’t cost $1000 in delays. Hahaha let me know if you experiment with it! Oh! Also, the microcosm gets pretty damn close on its own as well!
Nice video, and rad board! Question? Regarding your Goldenface OD, since that's always on, would it have been possible to remove it from where it currently is, move the tap tempo delay into its space, move the Tumnus and the Speculan Tempest (spelling?) down, and then finally put the Goldenface OD on the top?
100% yes! Lol I actually ended up doing something similar to that! It’s a never ending puzzle and I enjoy the process a lot. Trying new things, thinking it’ll work only to get on stage for rehearsal and finding that it doesn’t. Haha I’ll often find a work flow that works for me for a couple weeks and then completely change it up for no reason. Again, I just enjoy the modularity of a pedalboard!
I bought an HX stomp for direct recording and tried for like 2 years to be happy with the amp modelling, my main amp is a Friedman Dirty Shirley 40 and so I go for that open, warm low to mid gain Marshally thing.. I tried with the stomp, bought a bunch of IRs, etc.. never really happy with it. Bought an Iridium a few weeks ago and was instantly "this is much better, more real, touch sensitive, tone, etc.." I am running it direct with HX Native for some verb/delay. I want to just play it not constantly jacking with it trying to be happy.
Yeah man, I get that! Ultimately you can get amazing tones from most solutions out there today. The HX stomp is amazing, my buddies of We Never Settled recorded most of their guitar parts with the HX stomp and it sounds PHENOMENAL. Definitely check out their album and you’ll be amazed by the tones coming from a simulator. Lol At the end of the day it’s all about what work flow is best for YOU. And that might not always be the same in every scenario. For example, while at home, I plug into my real amps. When Im playing somewhere and want the closest thing to plugging into a real amp and getting amazing tones, the iridium wins. But right now I’m on deployment in Europe and would LOVE the versatility and tweak-ability of the HX stomp, just to have something to tinker with, you know?
@@drewroze4168 yep, man, I did something stupid last night at a jam. I brought my new board with the Iridium added, I plugged into my buds amp and after two songs I realized I had both the iridium on in the Marshall setting and my Friedman smallbox OD on.. ! DOH! I was struggling with the sound and then realized I had the Iridium on, in front of the clean amp. Turned it off and the next song was MUCH better! You say you are deployed, what branch? I was in the Navy a long time ago.. my cousin Clifton Wright is a monster player from San Antonio, he is in Air Force Band of the Pacific and stationed in Japan. Has a great channel with some amazing videos ru-vid.com/show-UCmsaPEBBlQ4V6vI2E2v_NKgvideos
Hey man, I ordered these cables based on your recommendation, and I got the Amazon cable from the link under the video. I’m sitting down with the board now and I’m trying to power from a strymon Zuma. But the 2.1-2.5 cable doesnt sit tight in the green end of the current doubler. Is there something I may not be doing right? Or was it loose for you too. I noticed it made the Stomp super sensitive, turning on and off, so if there’s a more reliable way, I’d rather try it.
Really great. I too have used Temple Boards for years, and about to build a new one. My key tip is: Use 3M pedal tape. Much better, much easier. But be sure where you place your pedal :-)
Don't forget about the excellent " Pedal Tetris " mini program on Temple Audio's homepage . It certainly helps a lot with layout and with which Templeboard to purchase !!!
Do you still have the guitar? If so, you still lovin it? I’m ordering a set this week, but I’m having a very difficult time choosing between grinders, cremas, or a neck crema and bridge grinder🤔
Yeah! That’s the metro 24! I still have it and it’s case but I use the metro 16 now. It’s smaller and more restricting but I’m traveling a lot so I need the compact form factor lol If you’re looking to get one I’ll sell you mine for a really good price. Otherwise it’s just chillin in its case at home lol
@@drewroze4168 I've got an HXStomp, H9, two dx4s and a pair of kingsley pedals to fit in a big straight line, so I'll probably end up with a pedaltrain Nano Max since I hate stepping on the back line.
Hey man I did exactly what you did and it didn’t work for me. (I doubled checked to make sure I had the right cables.) My HX stomp isn’t powering on with your set up. I noticed after that my HX stomp says 3A 9VDC. Could that be the issue? If not, what else could I look out for?
I’m not actually sure!! I think the HX can send out messages but I think it’s mainly for passing through midi or being controlled via a controller from what I remember
you probably dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother these days :)
Bro, it’s great! Even at its NAMM Pre-release, it’s sounds were amazing and they weren’t even finished refining everything. I feel like the QCortex is what we all want the Kemper to be. Lol
If you have a pedal that is on all time, like your compressor, try mounting it underneath. Yes there is a screw that will come through but you can have the screw sit between pedals.
Some great pedals there! My tip would be to forget the mounting plates... instead, use that clear gel tape they sell on Amazon. It's thick and reusable, sticks great and easy to remove... a 2" x 2" square is all you need! ...It will also provide more mounting positions. If you have pedal feet you don't want to remove, you can stack the tape higher.
Hi Drew, how similar and dissimilar is a low output pickup like Crema to a filtertron, such as Powertron? They’re both labeled as single coil style HBs. Thanks!!
Definitely a game changer for me, since i use it my other od and boost pedal only be a decoration for my pedalboard 😀😀 Btw ur tone needs more low its too typical digital multi fx in my opinion...try it maybe ull like it 🍻🍻🍻
Great video! I just ordered an Iridium, and my Stomp is going on Reverb. The Iridium tones are so much better than the Stomp. This confirmed that I'm making the right gear choice.
JT!!! I recently sold the stomp and stuck with the Iridium! 😂 just got worn out with the options and constantly feeling like I could get a better sound with “just one more tweak” hahaha
Wow a real person, not a cartoon. I think you speak very well. Very pleasant experience to watch this great review. Packed with straight to the point information. Just what I was looking for. Thanks!!!
HAHA Thanks man 😂 I’ve got no reason to mislead people and I don’t like wasting people time! Thanks for the love brotha! I should be back to uploading soon!
I really appreciate that John! I’m gonna be getting back to uploads soon! The army has just been squeezing us dry 😂 How have you been liking the Iridium?!? I recently sold the stomp and stuck with the Iridium lol
@@drewroze4168 thanks for your service! These are tough times but we appreciate ya! And I don’t blame you for ditching the stomp. They sound cool but always kind of “digital” if that makes sense. I love the iridium since it sounds so much like a real amp. Hopefully I’ll have some stuff recorded with it out on RU-vid soon as well! In the mean time keep up the good work!
Hi Drew and thanks for the explanation. I have an HX stomp and considering to power it in a different way. In my pedalboard there's only the Stomp and a Wireless receiver (Sennheiser Pedalboard ws set) that needs 500 mA of power, plus a switch and an Expression pedal that are passive. The 1Spot Trutone power adaptor has 1700 mA of capacity. Do you think I can power both my devices in daisy chain with that power adaptor instead of buying an Ojai or DC7 Cioks or whatever? Thanks
