Hello everyone, my name is Tessa. I create content relating to all things DIY, room makeovers, thrifting, and a few extras :) If you love those things as much as I do, please subscribe and follow along with all my adventures and projects.
I'm an interior designer I learned from Kate and Joey their RU-vid channel is Mr Kate and Drew RU-vid channel lone Fox they both told me that you don't have to have one interior design theme you can two or three and mix them together but they have to blend cohesively together and you don't have to go by the rules of interior design you can make your room however you like because it's your room and nobody else is unless you have a partner living with you make sure they get involved on helping because they're going to sleep in that room and you will want them to feel comfortable in that room too. I think you should mix all three interior design themes and all three themes would look really cute together. So go on your mood board and start designing all three interior design themes together. I hope that helped you out and have fun interior designing your bedroom I know it's going to be a blast👩🏻Kit 🐈Kat
Looks like a fun day…. Even with the creepy mannequin, strange painted baby pictures and old wedding pictures where they always look miserable. Did you go to Toco Bell after….😂
Love the brass candlesticks. Specially the ones with the hearts or that looks like a heart and I really love the Yero Taco Bell at the actual store. Still have those somewhere. They made the move to Florida as those was something I could never give up.
Oh Wow this place Is awesome.. like i just want to load everything up & take it on home! So many amazing pieces & i love everything! Well except for the mannequins or heads😄 I found out there's a big antique mall here in Tampa, I've recently moved to the area & haven't had the chance to go ck it out yet. I just hope its as good as this one! I see lots of things that I've also been on the hunt for! The prices aren't bad either! That ornate frame.. you can just add a little rub & buff, it would take seconds and that little place wouldn't even be noticeable! If its an actual wood frame, with just that small place, the price isn't really too bad! The pink glass is depression glass! That's why you won't see much at A thrift store & why the prices are a bit high, its very collectable & sometimes very pricey! I love the green depression glass! Lol my fav art to collect is the Victorian/regency era. Especially real photos, prints or paintings of people, and i think the children/babies are the sweetest! I love any old art of people..i love the way they dressed back many years ago! You can do the same with the white frames, use the rub & buff to cover over the areas where you want more gold. It comes in a very small tube but a tiny bit goes a long way! And its very quick & easy, dries super fast! Antique gold is probably the most used. You can even use it on stained wood frames like around the edges to add that extra something, you can use it on porcelain or ceramic.. most surfaces.. to cover imperfections or just to add more gold. It would have worked perfect on the big white & gold frame! The shelfs that had the yellow, blue, pink & green glass dishes was all also depression glass! If you were going to use the pink for a wedding, this is probably some of the best Prices I've seen & they have lots of it! It would definitely be beautiful for a wedding & you could use it after of course, but it would also be a great keepsake! It was made in 1929-1939, and some into the 50's, so most very old. I love to collect brass candle holders & my fav's are the ones with the like ring handles.. they're called "chamber candlesticks". Back before homes had electricity they would use these to carry the lit candles to light the way going into their rooms at night, they called their bedrooms "chambers" back then. If you've watched any of movies from back in those days you've probably heard the term 🤷♀️. But that's also the reason for the bowl at the bottom, to catch the dripping wax😊 The one with the heart on the handle & heart cutouts is so pretty, so unique!💕 I know your wedding is going to be beautiful! I hope you'll find your frames & don't forget you can fix them up with the rub & buff! If you decide to go with the pink depression glass, that will definitely be stunning! I just wish i lived near that store, ughhh to many great things & decent prices tho, I'd go broke😄 Enjoyed & TFS😊
Wow!! my parents recently moved to Florida, I might need to make a trip to Tampa next time I’m visiting to check out that antique store, I always think Florida will have amazing finds for some reason 😂wow that is great info, thank you!! I’ve heard of rub and buff before but have never used it, so I’m gonna keep that in mind next time. Honestly you can’t beat the prices here, not quite as low as a thrift store but the amount of options are unmatched, and compared to most antique malls or stores most prices are a steal!! Will definitely be going back for more wedding decor🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
So many creepy things in that antique store. 💀 It must be a bit frustrating when going back to edit the video and seeing things you should have bought after all.😢
It’s a mixed bag for sure😂😂 It seriously is!! I thought I was looking at everything but some things I really didn’t see until I was editing, hopefully they’re still there next time I go🤞🏻🤞🏻
Am l the only person who loathes books used as a grounding element to base decor on? I have a bookcase of books for reading. When l leave a book out on the coffee or side tables, it is the book l'm currently reading or next in line. I use trays and wooden / stone risers as grounding elements to corral items.
It’s definitely personal preference! I use trays in other areas, but also love the colors and textures I can add by using books🫶🏼🫶🏼 Also books can totally be multi purpose, you can read it AND decorate with it🩷I have a bookcase of books that I’ve read or want to read and I pull from that when I want to change up my decorating.
I was really surprised with the bedroom when you removed the tray from the 3 candles and the other piece of decor and how it looked weird or as you said, unintentional and cluttered. Good job, TessaJane! And I love Ash!!
Yay new video 🎉 Okie I’m still watching but I had to pause because your bedroom has such great nook potential! Color on the walls will immediately cozy the space up even more 🤩 I could totally see you working on a mini makeover video for that space! Loveee ❤
You are so right!! It’s just one of the spaces where inspiration hasn’t struck yet 😭😭do you have any ideas of what color? I can’t decide if we should go moody on the walls or if I should keep the walls pretty neutral and paint all the trim a fun color☺️
@@tessajanemMy immediate thought was moody like the color of your first inspo picture. Your wood nightstands would look so precious with colored walls and then once you added the 3 square pillows in with that same tone I was like yeppp she definitely should paint the walls that color 🤩 love it! Maybe a fall/winter cozy video idea 💡 regardless of the color I’m sure it will look great
I loved this video. I can’t believe what a difference painting the window trim in your kitchen made. I love it! Will you please tell me the name and brand of the green you used in the living room? I’d appreciate it!
@@tessajanem Holy cow. I just brought a sample card of Dried Thyme the other day. I know sometimes colors look different on screen, but I really liked your living room and now feel like my choice will be perfect.
@@suziethompson9097 yes it really is a beautiful color, it’s the perfect shade of green☺️If our living room had more natural light we probably would’ve gone with rosemary which is one shade darker than dried thyme! So if the room you are painting has more natural light, I would maybe check out rosemary too!
@@tessajanem Good info, thanks! We are actually painting all the walls white. But we are installing all new trim on our windows and doors and I want to paint all of that, as well as the doors, the green color. We have a good amount of natural light. A decent sized bay window on the front of the house and two other windows on one side. Thank you for taking the time to respond with your suggestion. I so appreciate it! Our living room is teeny, tiny and currently painted a dark color. Just bought the house. I’m hoping the white walls will open it up a little.
@@suziethompson9097 oh that will be so pretty with the trim and doors painted that color!! Yes a light color will definitely make it feel more open and bright! Of course, I always try to respond to anyone who takes the time to watch my video and leave a comment🩷🩷
For that caulk, I’d advise against trying to paint over it again, even with the expensive primers, I would use a caulk removal tool and carefully get under it. You might get lucky and it will peel off in a long strip.
Most of my items are thrifted or DIYd, some items are from small businesses or hand me downs from relatives and there are a few items I purchased new☺️
Well, my first candle Willow came in beautifully but I just received Mari’s and she was melted EVERYWHERE!!! There should be THIS SIDE UP labels!!! I’d post a pic if I could. I seriously cried after paying $52 for the candle and $12 shipping and handling!!
Thank you!! I know it was so upsetting, usually when that happens I’m able to try different things until I figure it out, but this time I needed to step away because nothing seemed to be working😭I’m glad i finally figured it out though!
I clicked into one of your living room makeover videos months ago and loved your content so much that I binged most of your videos but totally forgot to subscribe and for monthsssss I kept attempting to search for your channel with no luck, today I found your channel again 🙌🏼 subscribed plus turned on all notifications before watching anything so that I never miss out on another post 🥹
Yay!! I’m so glad RU-vid finally brought you back🩷🩷thank you so much Joseline, it means the world to me that you would binge watch my videos! I hope you like the new videos to come too🫶🏼
I like how you timeless style can have a different meaning depending on the person. Unless you’re flipping home or planning to sell it soon, you should style in a way that makes you happy. One suggestion about renters and hanging art. You can use command strips instead of nails and patching.
I’m glad that made sense to you! Agreed, there are times for neutral and there are times to just make it your own! And practice is the most important part. I am always trying to improve my decorating and design skills and just following my gut has steered me in the right direction 99% of the time. When something feels off, I will switch up the decorating after sitting with it for a few weeks or months. I try to figure out what I like about it and what doesn’t work and then change it. That’s truly how you learn what is timeless to you! 🫶🏼
And yes, command strips are always an option, I have used command strips in my home on frames that aren’t made to be hung up on the wall, I like to use the Velcro ones !
I was just watching you do the trim around the wallpaper and I came here to suggest you paint it blue. Just as I started the comment you said, “I think I’m going to paint that blue.” I found your channel a few weeks ago and have been enjoying going through your videos. Your powder room is so pretty. Great job!
lol 😂😂😂😂thank you!! I was just so confused and disappointed that it wasn’t what I really wanted! Guess I’m still on the hunt for the perfect black SWEATER vest 🤞🏻
I think the "sweater vest" is cute on you, but it's definitely not a sweater vest. It almost reminds me of a muscle tshirt or something. But of course my fav is the Les mis tshirt 😂
It definitely isn’t terrible but not my style at all, and yes such a huge disappointment when i thought i finally found my black sweater vest😂 Yay!! I knew you would ahahahah
I actually like that black sweater vest thing. It looked really cute on you. But my favorite thrift item was the coffee percolator pot is T-shirt and skirt are definitely your style. Very cute.
Looks GREAT! I carry that paint color you used on the kitchen window throughout all the backsplash, it really works with your counter tops, it warms it up and makes it not stand out like the cooler colors do.
