You're right! That was a mistake I made while filming. At that point 95% of my brain is focused on the experience and filming it. The 5% left over can easily make a mistake. Thanks for watching.
I have been loving watching your videos as we are getting ready to visit Acadia next week. Thanks for all the great tips! This video of the White Mountains had added another trip to my bucket list. I had a question for you. What do you use for your aerial footage? And also, I would love to start creating videos of our vacations for our family to share. Being new to it all, what editting software do you use? Thanks so much in advance for any help and advice!
Glad you like our videos. I hope you find inspiration and tips for your adventures. I do most everything on the cheap for my channel as it is just my hobby (for now). I'm on my 3rd drone; the first got stuck at the top of a tree, the second got hit by a bird above a lake and fell in. I say all that to advise not to spend too much on a drone and only as much as you can emotionally afford to lose. The financial loss is small compared to the emotional loss. My current drone is the DJI Mavic Mini (version 1). I've had this for over 3 years and LOVE it. My review here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-odFLFT769js.html I use OpenShot Video Editor. It is FREE, not too difficult to use, and runs on my dated laptop. Plus there are several OpenShot tutorials on RU-vid. Enjoy your trip to Acadia!
@@ParksandPlacesOnline Thank you so much for the info! That's actually the drone that I was looking into getting. Sadly I will not have it in time for our stay in Bar Harbor. I will definitely check out that editing software. Thank you again and keep up the great videos!
Would you recommend this hike or golden canyon to red cathedral hike...I have time for one 3-4 mile hike along with the other short hikes I wanted to do the day I am there. Thanks
I did the Golden Canyon hike to Red Cathedral as a loop trail returning through Gower Gulch. That loop is over 6 miles so probably more than you have time for. The hike to Red Cathedral is easier than the hike through Mosaic Canyon which requires scaling the slick dry falls. Golden Canyon is more wide open and Mosaic Canyon is more of a slot canyon in spots. If you get to the Red Cathedral walk past the wall and scale the hill on the left for a beautiful view of the canyon you just hiked up. They are both great hikes but I enjoyed the technical aspects of Mosaic Canyon. Have a great trip! Thanks for watching.
I was at Rookers Island. I saw a great white egret sized bird flying over. This bird as it flew over had yellow and orange colors from behind it's head about 3" down towards the body. Is this a GWE?
Being able to get to places like Rookers Island makes me want a boat, or at least a friend with a boat! Breeding plumage can sometimes add variation but the only big white bird I’ve seen with yellow/orange behind its head is a cattle egret. That would be my guess. Thanks for watching.
Loved the story about Darlene and the bear. Loved the old family picture. I have visited Banff years ago. Now I want to go back. It appears I missed some points of interest. Thanks Tom for capturing this so well.
I think it was a total of 9 days we spent in Death Valley so we did quite a bit. I have two other videos on Death Valley NP that covers all we did. Thanks for watching.
@@ParksandPlacesOnline yea honestly the only time we’re able to go is in the summer around august and we’ve read a lot about it and we think we’re prepared We’re going to be more on the stove well pipes side so hopefully the higher elevations will hep
That trip to Waterton was in mid June. The snow in the mountains was beautiful that time of year but some roads like the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier was still closed.
The drive to the Mosaic Canyon trail head was a gravel road in very good condition. No problem for a Nissan Maxima or similar. But road conditions can change so drive cautiously and look ahead for hazards. Thanks for watching.
We enjoy taking pictures of birds but usually don't know what they are until we look at the pic on a big screen and try to match against the internet. It's a challenge! Thanks for the comment.
I understand that not everyone is at a place in their life where they need a word of encouragement or challenge. But many, including myself, appreciate the wisdom and warnings found in the Bible. Thanks for watching and your comment Karrie.
Having just been to Arches in april, it was "ok"...I base a nat park on if I will return, I'm sure I never will, enjoyed Canyonlands much more and will return.
Canyonlands is awesome. We were to the Island in the Sky area and drove a jeep into the canyon but would love to explore more. You can see most of Arches in a day. Thanks for your comment.
Used to be one of my favorite places on earth. Still a beautiful place but unfortunately it's a complete zoo there much of the year nowadays. Reminds me of how Tahoe has changed in the last 20-30 years.
Yeap, Haines is on the list of places we want to return to. We wanted to take a flight seeing tour from Haines to Glacier Bay Natl Pk but weather didn't cooperate. Maybe next time.
Great advice about various ways to camp & vacation. Love the practicality of your videos. Thank you for always incorporating Scripture. God bless you both. It was nice to meet you.
thanks for sharing this! We have been to Badlands but haven't really explored the Black Hills other than Mt. Rushmore. These other attractions look wonderful!
Not by the Shark Valley entrance. After you turn in off the highway there is a parking lot at the visitor center and that's it. There may have been a couple picnic tables around the parking lot but not a proper picnic area. The main part of the park has several nice picnic areas. Have fun on your trip!
Back in the days that we were feeding a stray cat along with the birds, we had the cat and a rabbit sitting practically nose to nose with birds all around. I guess with an abundance of food predators become tame. Glad you liked the video.
Good video production. We were just in South Dakota a couple months ago and we didn't get to go to the badlands. She is talking about going there again soon. We want to see it for the first time. Looks very cool. Thanks for sharing the video. We saw the Sioux falls in South Dakota instead. Have you seen that? I have a video on it if you're interested. It's nothing like the badlands, but it's nice there too.
Glad you liked the video. We haven't been to Sioux Falls but I just checked out your video on the falls and the rocks; nice. We'll have to make that a stop our next trip out that way. If you make it to Badlands and have the time head to the Black Hills of SD, so much to see and do there. I need to work on videos on that area.
