Its quite simple really - If you want to use your brain, play path of exile, if you want SIMPLE play D4 because its just not Diablo because there is no Diablo in it. :)
Tell me what am I missing here, whats so complicated about skill tree, why all non poe players arescared of it? 99.9% of people are using guides. People who make guides have so much choice to make a tone of builds. Once build is made, its not that difficult to connect 100 points is it? Do people want d4 skill tree where you can choose a skill and 1 out of 2 runes for it? Crazy
I'm glad they didn't remove the inventory tetris/size of items from the game. Something I really enjoy about D2 is the challenge of trying to fit all the charms in your inventory, and how you have to fight for potion space, intentionally avoid picking up items like tower shields or breast plates because they take up too much room, or picking up jewelry because it takes up little space but sells for a decent amount. Having a game like D4 make everything the same size makes the splash art of each item less impactful, simplifies your thought process when interacting with items, makes items feel less real or tangible... Personally for me it hurts the game. As for identifying, I personally don't have much attachment to the system, as I think that you'll be excited if the items good regardless, but it does help burn through gold by having to buy scrolls, and it simplifies item looting as well... So there are benefits to it. The skill tree being limited in view is initially a good idea, but then you realize players can't plan ahead, and then it ruins it. Ultimately you're always limited in your next option anyway, and all you really have to do is follow each pathway and see which one fits your character better. While your build might not be meta or amazing doing this, you'll probably get away with it if you have a general understanding of what stats work good with your current build - which PoE 2 is simplifying this understanding a lot. The game being difficult is great imo, because a big issue of PoE difficulty was just you one-hitting before the enemy one-hits you - this isn't fun imo. Having it slowed down makes it more impactful, makes it more engaging, and will let you get immersed in the world not having the ability to teleport through it at the start. I'm super excited for this approach, as I miss being attached to the world like I was in Diablo 2.
Yes the way how POE handles inventory and items is simply the best. I love the fact that they refrain using the horrid system where every item just takes one slot. Totally unrealistic. Also in POE you can admire the 2D art of those items more.
