To be honest, I have not been able to watch this yet. Just reading the comments I start crying. I lost my dad to leiomyosarcoma over 11 years ago, I am not sure I would be able to get through this without being in shambles by the end. She meant so much to so many. Just today I talked about her and shared 2 of her crochet tutorials. I always and only share her tutorials when I tell people who I learned to crochet from. Melanie holds such a special place in my heart as she does for so many. One day I will watch this and cry again with the masses that miss her.
I don't know that Melanie's family reads all the comments here, but I just wanted to say what a wonderful spirit she had on her videos. I'm learning to make my first quilt and this has helped so much. I have also been fighting breast cancer and was so saddened to hear of her passing. What an amazing legacy she has left and she will be helping others still for years to come! Thank you for sharing her talents!! 💗
Thanks for keeping Melanie's videos on RU-vid. I'm trying to figure out a liner for my M-I-L's rollator basket and I think this will work once I get the measurements worked out!
I have never wept so much for someone I have never met. I just stumbled up on her channel. I wanted to learn how to quilt, but my grandma passed before I could. I just lost my grandpa from cancer about a year ago. Even from heaven your amazing wife taught me how to quilt.
I had to improvise with the colours as I didn't have the right ones, so it didn't really look like a daisy - but it definitely turned out great! This was my first ever granny square, thank you so much for the tutorial! I am very sorry to hear that Melanie passed, such a lovely person.
Im still enjoying watching Melanie tutorial even in her absence she left me more over with a impart able lesson ,,thank u to Mr Hem and mels whole family ❤❤
For anyone doing this project, there is not enough of the main color as per instructions on her blog. Get more unless you just want a lap blanket. The width with he stitches requires more length. I am having a hard time finishing it because I cannot find the Joanne main color . Also the Joanne yarn she recommends is not as high a twist as the sample she is showing in gray. Therefore the berries look like the yarn is unraveled on the berries where the loop is. I’d recommend not using the yarn she recommends on her blog. Probably Hobby Lobby is better. Joanne yarn she recommends is a very low twist and after all the time I put into this, those berries are definitely going to catch on toenails etc!
Thank you for guiding me through this tutorial! Ive been making my own chevron blanket with this tutorial and its coming out beautifully. Bless your heart, soul, and family ❤
I love coming back to your tutorials time and time again. Although you’re not with us anymore, you’re impression is lasting. Your videos were there for me when I was my loneliest as a military spouse. You brought me back to a passion from my past. RIP.
Im just watching this video and then i was gonna ask her what’s the name of machine she’s using cuz it’s so good just to find out she passed away 2 years ago really breaks my heart.
Oh no 😢 I’m so very sorry to hear this. I just went through my saved RU-vid videos to make a zipper pouch that Melanie had done a tutorial on many years ago… and discovered she’d passed away. I can’t believe it. Such a shock. I’m very sorry for your loss. She was so amazing! I’m sending lots of love to you her family xx ❤
Hi Melanie can you please tell me why you don't use a bias binding to bind your quilts. Love your videos and have learnt a lot about quilting from you, thanks so much. Regards Rita D
I just finished "my first quilt" following all of Melanies videos. I am now inspired to make a bigger one and am coming back to her other tutorials for great information. I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful soul way too soon and am so grateful to be a part of her legacy! Thank you for leaving her content here!
Melanie was such an inspiration to so many. I often watched her videos just to get a positive vibe, even though I'm an advanced crafter, and didn't need to learn a lot, I just enjoyed her..
I am so grateful for Melanie! I recently lost my son on May 22, 2024 he was hit by a car while riding his bike! It’s been just over 1 month since he went home and the only thing that has been keeping me sane is my determination to learn to quilt so I can one day turn his clothes into memory quilts for myself, his father, and hopefully 1 for each of his grandparents. I found her tutorials today and had no idea that not only would I find an amazing teacher but also a beautiful soul who would inspire me to keep trying my best in non judgement. God bless her and her family! I’m deeply grateful for her and saddened for our loss of a bright and beautiful soul! God bless her family and friends- I pray you all have found peace and comfort in knowing that she is loved and safe in the arms of our creator ❤❤❤
❤thank you to her wonderful loved ones that are honoring her legacy by letting this channel remain accessible to us all so we can learn from the amazingly talented, gifted and creative teaching style that this beautiful woman had shared with everyone here and those who will someday be here to also learn from her and continue to make such lovely creations all because of her hard work, compassion and dedication to her art. She has a special place in my heart and even moreso now that I see she's now an Angel above and the things I've learned along my own personal journey were made while she herself was dealing with such a difficult one herself and yet her light, positivity and radiance was so abundant that you would never even realize it, and to see how she didn't make it a point of reference for any reason at first made me a bit sad, but as it sank in... it made me more amazed at how much she had been such a great inspiration to not just us, but to her own family friends and the ones who knew her outside this arena. It's so easy to take extended breaks, etc and then have an absolutely valid explanation of your health being the reason for this and honestly you'd be given so much support from this community no doubt... yet, she didn't want to make this about anything other than the beautiful work she obviously enjoyed sharing and we're so very grateful to you Melanie for all these precious hours you gifted to us all over the course of your courageous battle and we will aways remember to put a little bit of your zest for life into our own designs that your imagination inspired us to create for so many gifts, projects and heirlooms that will be here even when we're high in the heavens above ourselves! So many thank yous, smiles and hugs to you, yours and to all the wonderful people here who share this common thread!
She truly changed and has left her feet in the sand in this world, she was beautiful inside and out and so brave, may your family forever feel her love and may she rest peacefully watching her beautiful family from above ❤
