Sounds good BUT on my 1950 8A that's where the vacuum line for the distributor SO what about that. AND this off the subject but do you or any of your viewers know the correct engine color for the 1950 V8 8A engine? Thanks!

Im rebuilding the waterpump for the flathead continental 4cyl in my bulldozer and broke my first seal somehow this video is great and confirms i did it right must have been a fluke. The shaft and seal in it is veary similar to the ford pumps. Thanks for the video

In this video, you raise the question of how long to cut the rope seals around the main bearing. This is, I believe the answer: the rope seal is slightly compressible. You should press as much of it as possible into the groove. Then, when you tighten down on the rope, it will compress and be snug on the ends, then push more tightly inward onto the shaft. If you want to test this, cut the seals shorter, and you certainly will have an oil leak, and not just as the cut ends, but too little inward pressure on the shaft will allow it to leak all the way around. I'm a huge fan of your work, Mr. Dominguez. I have learned a few things around RU-vid, but you are the best most thorough of all the RU-vid teachers. I'm overhauling my first 8BA Flathead V8 in a 1949 Ford F2 Pickup. I have watched your films over and over. Training in surgery let me watch masters of the OR repeatedly. You are in the class of teachers. Thank you.

Hi Dlucas, it's called a Flathead pressure test kit. I clean the rust off with a fine wire wheel on my battery powered drill. I use a small parts cleaning tank to clean the internal items.

Thanks so much for posting this. If the vacuum port on the manifold is already used for the wiper, do you see any issue sharing the port for both purposes?
@aarondominguez4533
@aarondominguez4533 5 месяцев назад
Thanks Mal, I have never tried it. I think the PCV would work the same when the wiper motor is off. I don't know if the wiper motor would have enough vacuum to work correctly, the vacuum may take the easiest route, which I think would be the PCV. Pretty cheap to try it out though.
