WilliamB really cleaned things up after that awkward pause. Not sure Sammy fully appreciated how lucky he was to have him . If Ed McMahon had ever left the Tonight Show, Johnny would've snapped up WilliamB in a nanosecond
“Ahh, I’m not gonna do Benny, it’s not topical to do Benny.” “Topical?? You did John Wayne, he’s been dead for 3 years!” Did the audience sound disappointed when Skip wouldn’t do his Benny impression? I never noticed that.
That is hilarious, what they put into a skit is a high wire act, and its hilarius, Skip not ready for prime time, he was really funny, or a gas as we used to say.
It just goes to show that society sucked back then too. No sports game should've ever had priority over Maudlin, but that's how it was. The TV stations had to cater to the dumb masses.
@@alukuhito Exactly! I remember when that idiot Earl Camembert broke into the Maudlin show to announce that Elvis died. Like, I couldn't wait until 11:00 for this? Was his condition subject to change? The reason I remember was because he cut off one of Bittman's best performances!
Bobby Bittman => Dr Allen Pearl ("Waiting for Guffman"). The talent overwhelms. Also, the Bittman's as the two Barry's in "Club Paradise". Terrific under-rated super-fun movie.
