I got a 04 cherokee w j, with a dana 30. What parts can I add to my dana 30 to beef it up for some bigger tires? Thank you for any help I can get.. Randy
Hey there! We don’t include the bolts because we do not know the thickness of the end user’s leaf pack. Depending on how thick that is, you will need a longer or shorter bolt.
I didn't even know that the Dana 50 existed until 3 days ago. I bought a 2000 F250 thinking they were all D60/Sterling 10.5. My tow rig is a 2011 F350 with a Super 60 and Sterling 10.5. I plan on putting the 2000 axles under an XJ or Wrangler (TJ or YJ). Likely on 38" tires. This will be an off-road recovery vehicle (Think Matt's off-road recovery Banana). Should I scrap the Dana 50 and look for a Dana 60?
So my experence running 1 tons on a offroad rig is yes they are strong, they offer more options on tires and ratios.. but, ,,,, if you run them on a uniboy chassis, your going to rip the sheetmetal brackets out of it. Secondly, you are going to be investing in hubs and driveshafts more because you just moved the weak spot down the road. Third, a 14 bolt rear end is around 600 lbs loaded, and a dana 60 front can be up to 400+ lbs.. so you just added 1/2 ton in weight you gotta push thru the trails. Dana 44 is barely a 3/4 ton axle, its good for up to 35 tires reliably, but needs work for 37 tires. Ive seen 4 cyl jeeps snap axles in low range on dana 30 running 33" tires. Just remember, everytime you beef up a componet, you just sent the torque to the next weakest part.
D30 with an lsd and d35 open diff in the rear on 33’s and stock axle shafts with zero issues for years now. Just got my honor badge for firebreak 5 trail (level 8 rated trail) a couple nights ago.
I run Heim tie rod ends on my 240z. They work great! They do not transfer vibrations to the body as often rumored and the ride is just as smooth as standard tie rods. However, the steering is much smoother and responsive.
Are these going to fit without machining when used by them with height steer arms and no spring? How much torque on the center load bolt when no spring ?
Yes they fit without machining. We can confirm that they fit with our high steer arms, we can really confirm all the other high steer arm manufacturers.
@@barnes4wd what should the center bolt be torqued down to load the bushing when there’s no spring? Thanks! I do have your arms, so this should go smoothly!
Really like your truck build, are you still running with the straight 6 engine and about how much lift? I'm currently working on my 88 comanche 4x4, Thanks.
I need my xj to be built like that with a sc ls and cages lol. I feel that with a cage I'd be fearless. I know when I'm on a long steep hill right now I be paying attention to everything
I bought the 35" tires before I make the jump. But having the tons I got for 400$. I now have an xj on 35's and tons. Probably won't be breaking anything anytime soon...
the problem im facing is, my front axle was destroyed and needs to be replaced, i have on 05 LJ and finding an axle for it is tough bc the prices for a dana 44 front is absurd. then i look at ton prices and i can get 2 axles for the price of one dana 44. im debating on getting a built axle from ECGS or getting tons. both the cost of a new axle or getting tons installed is about the same so thats where my problem lies. i want to go 37s eventually and i know a built dana 44 can handle it. but when the costs are the same it becomes a little harder for me to chose. tons are heavy but will be harder to break on 37s, a ecgs axle with be lighter but easier to break. this decision is harder than i thought
How you grade the enduro joints ? I got a bunch of the and the regular ones The regular ones as a fitting that I was able to used The enduro ones I couldn’t used the same greaser
I tried replacing my misalignment spacers on my heim jointed steering. I unscrewed the nut on the 3/4 in bolt and cannot slide the bolt out of the spacers and heims. How do I remove the bolt?
May be a obvious question, what tools have you used to try and get the bolt out? It’s typically always a good idea to throw some anti-seize on your bolts before putting them in.
@@barnes4wd I’ve used a hammer and no luck. Though my next thought is to use a jack to apply upward force to the bolts on each end of the knuckle. Any suggestions?
Is this plate short enough in width, front to back, to allow draining the transfer case without oil going all over the stock plate? 2000 TJ owner wants to know. Photos of the finished install from all angles would have bee a great help.
Dana 30 locked under an XJ for 6 years now. Almost every trail in SoCal, plus Rubicon and lots of miles in the dunes. No issues other than 1 lost U joint. It’s stronger than people think and if you respect the fact that you can’t just hoon it up everything, perfectly fine for a light Jeep on 35s
@@MahugamaHD Locked, stock shafts (with welded caps) and 4.56:1 gearing. If you give it more than 1/4 throttle and it’s not rolling or spinning, let off and try another line
The whole world is shifting towards 40" tires. If you are running 33"-35" tires....are you really even off-roading? Guys are running that size tire on their SxS.😄 Kinda hard to run the big paths/trails when they are rutted up by significantly bigger tires.
