Welcome to my channel! I'm Mollie! If you are new here, let me tell you a little about myself...
Ever since I was a young girl I’ve been a bargain hunter, just like my Dad! He taught me that price isn’t necessarily and indicator of value & quality and that you can find great products at many different stores, which is why I like to scour the internet to bring you finds from a multitude of sources!
I love combining my passions of interiors & bargain hunting to help you design a home that’s both beautiful & budget-friendly. My philosophy involves blending a few “reasonable splurges” with amazing bargain finds to achieve a high end look you’ll love!
I am excited to share with you my love for interior design and I hope that watching my channel helps enable you to create a beautiful home in which you are proud to live.
Heyya Mollie and Ben. This space is AmaZing! It does need finishing touches to get it just where YOU feel and know--THIS.IS.IT. So, my thoughts for whatever they're worth. I love the mirror, but not necessarily in this room or location. I do not think one should try to convince themself into something; they should like it or not. I think doubt = don't. I think you like it but want something more IMHO. I don't know if you could add another layer behind it to customize it or try something else. Designers always do repeation in spaces, so an arch mirror would do that, but that's an expected cookie cutter idea that has been done everywhere and you seem to be breaking the molds at this house. Go with your gut instinct either way to keep it or ditch it! I love round mirrors and I bought one decades ago with a thin black matte metal edge for my then boyfriend now husband and we never take it down. Its in our kitchen now opposite the window to reflect in light. I also love live edges and wondered if you could have a round one custome made. I think that would be organic, interesting, and cool. I also like your rug style for that space, but agree with you that it should be bigger and thought you could try layering in a beautiful natural fiber rug made or hemp, sisal, silk, or whatever. And before I write an essay here😅, I will quickly tell you to add a tree, a beautiful small ottoman to kick your feet up by that awesome fireplace, get a ginormous basket for cozy/,soft blankets, and finally customize some large family photo books for that beautiful coffee table. Make this space have hyyge! Cant wait to see the art. I have done art and design my whole life so I share this passion bringing it into ones home and how meaningful it truly is! ❤️😊❤ 😊😊❤❤ SO... I added in all my ideas, but you do whatever you love and I know I'm gonna like it because you have a wonderful sense of style. Bless you both and all who actually read my little essay here. Hahaha😊❤😅
Hey love everything, I feel you can keep both style stalls it brings not only unique fashion but it also fits your kitchen. It's giving statement piece I love them.❤
Great look and interior design. Hoping some colour and 'familiness' will be added because this is to beige? Staged like a home for sale, not one a family lives in.
I’m so glad you’re back and I been enjoining your videos. I’m not a fan of the mirror and the sofa with all the pillows. I think you will end up with too many pillows once you add more pillows to the other sofa.
Looooove the space! I’m not a fan of the mirror, however as it conflicts with the neutrality of the decor. Everything in the room resonates calm, and serenity, but the design on the mirror has a great deal of visual movement and is jolting to the eye.
The house looks incredible and I love the arched doorways! Just curious, what type of hardwood are the floors and what color did you paint the walls? They are perfect together
Regarding the mirror. I like the size of the round in that spot. The question would be if I want the focus of the room to be the coziness of the center of the sitting area? If so, then a round mirror with very little exposed frame would reflect back to the sitting area instead of competing for attention like the current motif frame. However, if I want attention drawn to the fireplace, than a mirror with a softer frame design, like the arms of the chairs, would look great. Regardless, I would wait till putting the art up to the left of the fireplace before making a mirror decision. As the art will change the vibe needed above the fireplace. Or perhaps you could use a large naturally organic item above fireplace. I think a 48" width sideboard, the color of the tan bookshelf, could also look nice where the bench is, depending on the height of art. The texture and color of the rug looks great. I agree with enlarging it some. Perhaps to allow the front legs of the couches & chairs on it if a full rug isn't available. Or you could layer two different rugs to give the larger rectangle size. Your home is looking great! I'm hoping your outside reveal will show reasonably priced patio furniture that doesn’t need cushions. Every summer I look for reliable patio cushions that won't fade. I'd love to not need those any more. ❤
Do you plan to put art on the right wall leading to the open arch doorway? Our living room wall is approximately that size. I want a large, unique piece of art, but I'm not sure how much I want it to blend with my neutrals & possibly look like a hotel lobby or pop like museum art. I like the museum art idea to bring some life to all my neutrals, but I also don't want it to detract from our organic modern style. How do you decide on art color palettes and size?😊
I feel about art similar to how I feel about rugs- usually the bigger the better. But if I want something to feel more subtle I go for a minimal frame with wider mat. So the artwork isn’t as much like a hotel lobby. The wide mats keep it more organic modern imo. For artwork I kind of always love the same tones- earthy and organic. In the art I’m doing for my house I went mostly that route, there’s a little green blue and terra cotta but leans on the neutral side with tans and creams
I like the high ceilings and the arched glass patio doors and the rug. Give yourself the time to live in it and you will tweak the foundations with the right accents … pops of color or more browns and artwork. I agree the mirror is pretty. Maybe add some accessories to the mantle and mirror. Or find a new home for the mirror. It takes time to make a home.
A wise woman (AKA my mother in law) once told me to always sandwich 🥪 criticism with slices of praise. 🤨 Opinions are helpful, and there are ways to state your opinions that get a lot more accomplished in life and keep everyone’s feelings in tact ( because we all have feelings). She just moved into her house. And is steadily adding new decor as she goes… she’s looking for greenery to add pops of color and art. Let’s all give a lady grace to fill her home. And yes 👍 opinions do help and matter, but kindness goes a very long way in ensuring one’s feelings are salvaged and that you also get the desired results you are looking to be heard on.
It would be nice to not have curtains but I think you need for the slider and the upper window because I have windows high up and I get too much sun early in the morning it wakes me up way too early!
I love this house! You did such a great job! Since you asked for input…..I’m not so sure about that mirror. I like the idea of a mirror above the fireplace and the scale is perfect but there’s just something about it that doesn’t jive with the room. I can’t put my finger on it. It’s coming together beautifully! Love your channel!
Or you could just add a super large plain rug underneath it (maybe light colored) since the brown looks good… then you get to keep the awesome brown rug but will get the look you want for the proper scale by adding the larger neutral underneath 🎉❤😂😂 problem solved 🎉 which I’m sure you already know that 😂… operation save the brown rug..
Dreamy!!!! It’s amazing how much interest you have added to this room while still keeping a very neutral, monochromatic color palette!!! Absolutely adore this space!!!
Foyer is absolutely beautiful! I love the benches on either side of the front door. Your shelves are decorated beautifully, they add warmth, interest, and symmetry.
Beautiful 🤍 I recently had some beautiful textured customised art pieces made for our new home too. We’ve been in our new home for 10 months now.. it’ takes time for a house to become a home 🤍
Beautiful room. I'm not sure about the mirror either..maybe a tall arched, or ever rectangular, mirror would bring the eye up to the hight of the room and make the whole room feel more airy. Since you don't have a mantle, maybe some great sconces on either side of the mirror. I do think a large art piece would be amazing where you've indicated you are going to put art. Maybe a couple of large concrete orbs by the fireplace, too, would add some whimsey to the room and still keep it minimal. I love the warmth of the wooden cabinet through the arched doorway, maybe bring some of that into the living room to add some warmth here and there without too much color.
Love the room. Love the foyer arrangement. Since you asked, I think this mirror is not quite right. I immediately noticed it and I don't think that is the vibe. The room is absolulety stunning though and your foyer is my all time favorite.
