Michael Kelly makes tremendous guitars. I have several of their T style guitars and in my opinion, they blow away everything that is even reasonably close in price. They are an overlooked company.
The 335 tones were almost indistinguishable maybe in the room they were more definable but recorded they sounded very very close. The gold top les pauls sounded different the Epi was a but thinner but let's face it as a guy playing in his basement for fun and as a hobby it's a no Brainer Epi rules the day
just got my first odr mini for 50 at guitar summit from nobels boss himself. been avoiding em... its rerally pleasent. 18v makes a big feel difference. like between golden retriever and bernhardiner? it feels like thick heavey bright green rubber matress. a jam rattler set trebbly and lo gain helps A LOT opening up that woofiness. very bass heavy. but it makes single coils sound like proper pickups. i see why those tele plinkers dig it.
4:57 Attack and Release. 7:56 Settings eg. 11:36 Ratio dimmed adds some gain. 12:28 Setting ideas as an 'always on' pedal. 13:49 Another setting for a bit of clean, somewhat compressed, boost. 15:39 Funk rhythm guitar. 16:40 ''sonic saranwrap'' 😄Sounds about right.
Not many people become famous due to an amp design. There are a few, James Brown builds EVH's amps for decades, Mark Sampson is known for Matchless. There are a few more. None achieved the level of excellence of Howard Dumble He took the best and took it to another level. He made guitar amps the way God intended. There should be a movie made about this man. UA did a great job.
I have a Divided by 13 AMW 39 with 1 X12 cab. To understand the chain, I would basically replace the AMW with these type of modelers correct? Always appreciate your videos and lessons. Mahalo!!
That PRS sounds great! I’m always so impressed with the quality, feel and sound of the SE line. I really enjoyed the video and your approach! Thank you!
So if you're using line 6 power cap with these pedals when you choose a 1x12 cabinet in the ox stomp obviously it's gonna sound good but what if I choose a 4x12 but I'm running it through a 1 by 12 power cab? Are these pedals best use with a 2x12 modeler?
A year ago I bought a mint 2000 Korean made Epiphone Les Paul Standard in cherry burst for with a hard case for $380 USD. I love the cherry sunburst finish. The pickups aren't that great but even if I swap them out for a better set I'll still be in it for less that $500. I like the pickups in the "Greeny" but the guitar itself looks ugly with that Indian Laurel fretboard and that finish on the top. It doesn't look like a $1500 guitar to me.
Fantastic demo. Thank you! This demo and this pedal opened up a new realm of sound for me. Had been using a Headrush MX5 as a small fly-rig, and adding the UAFX 82 makes this complete. I use the UAFX 82 as amp+cab and all other effects come from the headrush. It allows for sooo much flexibility. OMG!
Don't know the difference 'tween US and Indonesian but it's the chunky neck and monster frets on the Indonesian that are really awful. The monster frets put the action up, giving an altogether horrible playing experience. Ditto the Strats. They're worse. The pick ups on this tele are amazing tho.
One thing I find a bit frustrating is that there is no standard for which direction the attack and release controls work on different compressors. My old analog DOD just has a release control and it works the opposite direction to the one on this UAFX. And I have a number of different compressors in a digital multi effects unit, and the attack is faster on some of them when turned clockwise, but faster when turned counterclockwise on others. Whenever I go to use one of the digital models, I literally have to first crank the compression way up, and try the attack and release controls hard left and then hard right to hear which way they operate on that particular model. Another thing I wish was standard on compressors was a side chain low pass filter. By the nature of how sound waves work, bass frequencies have more energy and will activate a compressor before treble frequencies will, so often times the attack of your bass notes will be getting buried while the treble will be still poking right out. Most of the time, I would like to have the opposite happening: treble attack tamed, but bass attack left in tact. It seems only a few of the more expensive compressors include that feature though.
2 questions: Can you go from the pedals outputs to a DI and then to FOH or does it need some sort of power amp? And where in the pedal chain does it fit? Last...? meaning your time based effects are before or can you place it anywhere? This in return would not make sense to me because of getting it to an FOH... thx for your help.
Yes to your first question. Treat the pedal like an amp. I would put drives, boosts etc before the amp and delay/reverb etc after the amp but, there are no rules!
I still don't even understand exactly what the D-Tex mod on the Dream '65 pedal is. The only info on the internet about that is that its something SRV had done to his amps, but its not explained anywhere. And trust me, I have searched high and low for that information. A product like this would only be valuable if James Santiago gave a 6 hour class on voicing the amp to your personal play-style the way Dumble himself did. That's such an esoteric black box of nerdery that there are likely only a handful of people in the world who could properly make use of this pedal.
I agree. Deeper dives and pulling the curtain back a bit would be helpful for everyone. As far as I know, the Dtex mod is in reference to SRV. However, it refers to mods that Cesar Diaz would do for SRV. He would use a solid state rectifier to make the attack a little stiffer and tighten up low end. I believe he would also allow for the normal channel and vibrato to be out of the circuit for more gain. I'm no expert or amp tech but, this is what I was told over the years and, what UA wanted to include on that pedal. Frankly, the Enigmatic will get you into SRV land quite well from what I've briefly experienced it. excellent video, lots of information on the pedal, clear explanations, and the superb playing rounds the video nicely! And...the tone in your hands is very nice and articulate playing! Subrscribed to your channel! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
