Great to hear your monitors mic'd Corey, it's not something we hear very often from any guitar RU-vidrs! They sound really good. I used JBL 305P 5" monitors and they're good for the price (about $300 a pair). Those Adams sound fantastic and although not cheap, they're not crazy price for home use.

As always, wonderful content and very helpful as well! The A7Vs are now on my radar and I'll be sure to consider em' when upgrading. The only other speakers/monitors I've been considering purchasing are the Dynaudio, simply because I need something a bit more flatter sounding for mixing but also something good for just listening to music. But again, these Adams sound like another great option, maybe even the better one, based on how well it works with guitar tones and specifically, this particular setup (Ox/real amps/Apollo) which is exactly what I'll be using and relying on for guitar tones. After a few months of researching the OX, I'm just about ready to pull the trigger, thanks to videos like Pete Thorn's, yours and a few others that have showcased it so fantastically! Anyway, Corey, thanks so much! Dave

Also my Carr Slant 6V combo feeding a Fryette PS-100 or a Torpedo Cab M+ out thru the same monitors. Very similar set-up. Dude… great video, love the channel and I couldn’t agree with you more. 👍 I have had a similar set up since 2016 and juiced it up in 2019 to the current config: Axe-Fx II XL+ into MOTU 828x into Adam A7X. No amps, but the Axe-Fx has so many Amps models, Cabs, Pedals and so many parameters to tweak for each, that I’ll spend the rest of my life discovering new sounds, without the neighbors chasing me out of the building. 😂 The A7X monitors make all the difference; I had a set of Blue Sky 2.1 speakers before (PC speakers on steroids) they sounded OK, but I didn’t discover what was really happening with the mids until I got the A7Xs. They are so detailed, it really sounds like there is an amp in the room.

Corey, really nice content on this video. I just got my Sire S7 this weekend (you're a bad influence, or a good one - depends on how you looks at it), and it is special - thanks for the video on that a while back, and it sounds great in this vid too. I can't believe the quality for the price - easily punches twice what I paid. My problem isn't recording guitars or vocals. It has always been recording drums. What do you use on your backing tracks? I currently am using Logic Pro, and I'm (trying) using EZDrummer3, but neither really give me what I want for flexibility of changing groove. I'm curious to what you and others do for drums (not real drums, of course), but computer drums?

great video. I’ve always wanted an OX but it’s very expensive. What do you think of using a captor-X as an alternative? The biggest limitation I see is that there are only two attenuation settings. But it’s less than half the price of an OX. Those Adams are top of the line, but I went with a less expensive option. I know quality of the speaker is paramount, but that’s a lot of money. @@Stratman6969 The only issue there is that I don't think Adam speakers accept a 1/4 input. They're meant to receive an XLR or "balanced" signal. The Adams or any studio speaker work best when connected to a recording interface or mixer. You may consider looking into a FRFR style speaker that is designed to work with modelers.

Hello Corey, can I ask you about the monitors, these that you showed are a bit expensive for me, but what about the Adam T5V, or do I need to look at other analogs in this price range, and is it necessary that the phase inverter be in the front?
@coreycongilio
@coreycongilio Год назад
Any of the Adam speakers are great. These were similar to my old ones which is why I got them. The lesser expensive models would be a good choice for sure

How is the ox signal getting to the computer? I tend to use the digital out but struggle with keeping the signal from peaking. Any tips?
@coreycongilio
@coreycongilio Год назад
I use trs to xlr cables and go in via the analog inputs. Mostly because of cable length. I don’t have to have the ox close to the interface that way

This video is just what I have been looking for but I'm still a little confused with the signal chain: Guitar > Amp > Ox > Interface > ? (computer?) This is where I get lost Assuming you run the Speaker > Mic through the interface into the computer, what do you do at this point since you have recorded directly out of the OX as well as the MIC. I'm guessing separate Channels? Pls excuse my ignorance. Although I have been playing for over 50 years, some of this is a brave new world to me. Old dog, New tricks!!
@coreycongilio
@coreycongilio Год назад
Everything is going through the speaker. The mic on the speakers is being recorded to a separate recording device to eliminate feedback. I don't normally do it this way...just for the video purposes to showcase the speakers

hello. Why don't you compare with just guitar directly to interface, and then thro amp simulation software (Amplitube, THu, etc) ? ..can you get that way sound good enough for professional recordings?

I rarely use amp sim plug ins.

I wish you used the more affordable 199-249 cost so we could hear those. 1500/each when you need a pair is pricey

Anyone can get great tones using any equipment anywhere in the world if they just use their damn ears for a second. Most noodlers obviously aren't capable of doing that but it's fairly easy to learn, even for numbnuts.
