You’re the only reactor to notice that the character with the skull in a cloak during Patti’s hallucination was indeed Mistress Death. I don’t think Rio is a green witch. I don’t even think she’s a witch at all. I think Teen is Billy. I think Rio is Mistress Death, and the reason why Agatha hates her is because her son died. And Agatha made a deal with Mephisto to not allow her to die until she resurrects her son. Which is why she began looking for the Darkhold. Which is why in episode 1, Agatha tells Rio that she is “not allowed” to kill her.
I am betting next week will be all the other storylines and not even touch Eregion. Argh. I will be so upset unless Cemen dies spectacularly. That would make me forgive a lot. That boy needs to die.

1:10 -- European public transit is *so* much better/integrated than in the US; it's embarrassing by comparison. And I like that, in context, the actor (who is famous in France, though unknown in the US) playing Nick's dad looks basically like "just some guy" -- an average middle-aged dad who lives away from his children and isn't really in touch with them, vs being a "face" actor.
8:20 -- well, they're underage relative to being adults (16 and 15), but hardly "children" in the conventional use of the word. (As a queer male myself, other queer male friends of mine and I have joked -- remembering back to when we were their ages -- how things would have progressed _quite a bit further_ than we've seen, to say the very least, lol, and for some of us had already been doing so for quite some time by 15/16yo.) Of course, the intention of the writing is to illustrate how some/many teenagers are nervous about having sex/going beyond kissing or similar "mild salsa" activities, and that is very much a breath of fresh air compared to many teens shows, particularly of recent years, like Euphoria, Elite', Heartbreak High, Young Royals, and similar (where sex, drugs and the like are an everyday thing). It's what makes Heartstopper -- paired with its genuinely endearing sincerity -- really stand out as a show. (But yeah... in the real world, the majority of "Nicks" and "Charlies" would have already been doing handies and/or BJs at this point, for sure... but that's not the kind of show this is, and that's a good thing.) 14:20 -- Elle *is* on the relatively taller side (5'11, taller in heels). (It's important to remember that she's trans, so statistically will be taller than most of her cisgender girlfriends; also, the actress playing Imogen is on the shorter side -- 5'3" -- so compared to most others in the core cast she'll be quite short. )
I wanted Sharon to survive the road and got power to become a real witch. When they were adding their own hair, I was cursing so much and yelling Sharon’s hair!!
i think ellie not looking that much older doesn’t matter much for tv. actors play characters of different ages all the time, i think people will suspend their disbelief a bit for it and people who haven’t played the game won’t even notice. yeah she looks the same but i’m sure she will act and sound different just like she did in the game
So I suspect we're going to get elemental-themed trials, with a skill focused on in each of them (potions) and quite possibly one of the traditional methods of killing witches highlighted (drowning, in this case). Given the vibe around Lorna Wu's appearance, I suspect Alice's protection will come into play with the fire trial. Also, I think Jen was using her craft to provide women the option to end unwanted pregnancies, and that's the work that Agatha considered too important to interrupt. If so, that dude was probably a doctor, of the sort who was refusing to give women that option, and took offense to her doing so. It's a conflict that's been associated with witchcraft for a long time, and a perfect subplot for this show. (Interestingly, in Penny Dreadful, Patty LuPone played just such a character as well.)
HOLY CRAP, do I believe the Oscar hype!!!! Minus One was beautifully done. Shikishima struggling to deal with survivor's guilt & PTSD suddenly being thrust back into a war against the very creature that put him in that spot to begin with was s hell of a fight. All while struggling to accept the family dynamic with Noriko and Akiko? Amazing. *SIDE NOTES:* I wasn't expecting Noriko to have survived getting caught in that shockwave from the Atomic Breath, but those Godzilla cells literally saved her neck. The title "Minus One" aludes to the bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki setting everything at 0, but Godzilla's arrival sent it down below 0 to -1.
22:13 -- in one of the trailers, Aubrey (Rio) refers to herself *as* the Green Witch so she's definitely the "replacement". (Remember, also, that the indicator for her to be with them was listed in automatic writing that Lilia did which included Aubrey as one of the witches needed for the cover (via her black heart), but Agatha didn't want to include her so grabbed Sharon as a replacement.)
I think the writers are just desperately trying not to expose its Billy despite everyone more or less already knowing it is. So, adding in Nicholas Scratch is a convenient red herring.
There are only so many changes that can be made from the source material without messing it up too much, so there is no way (or very few ways) to really surprise people who have been “spoilt” by knowledge not on screen in the MCU (comic books, etc.). So the writers are leading Agatha and the MCU only viewers down the path to thinking Teen could be Nicholas, but then surprise he is actually… No one who has not been “spoilt” by outside knowledge would reasonably guess that Teen is who he is.
It's not US who is being misled, it's the witches, esp Agatha. Jac knows the crazy MCU heads will work stuff out. All the red herrings are for Agatha. So long as we still have plausible deniability (ie they haven't SAID his identity) we can pretend the tooth fairy or the easter bunny are real
I thought that "Mrs. Hart", first of all wasn't the last member. Remember it wasn't a name but a black heart and earlier during the fight with Rio Agatha says "you have no heart" to which Rio responds "I have a heart, it's black, and it beats for you.". I also believe Agatha knew that the black heart represented Rio. I also believe that sharon Davis' (Mrs. Hart) death was NOT accidental, now as to who was behind it, I don't want to speculate just yet, but I do have a couple of suspects.

@@Persephone_Personified She says that she is in the one trailer, and we've seen her perform nature-related types of magic already (air-based telekinesis, healing of others wounds (when she licked Agatha's injured palm and it was healed), etc.), so she's not too far afield in that context, regardless of whether she's actually the "definitive" Green Witch. There isn't just one of each type of witch in the general sense -- there are many nature witches, divination witches, etc. -- with only Wanda as The Scarlet Witch being an apparently unique entity in that regard.

Good catch with the hair. Most reactors I've seen missed that. But yeah, the antidote wouldn't have worked even if they got it to her in time because they never added her hair. What's wild is how Sharon's dialogue kept foreshadowing her death: "Is this the End?" and "Bury me in that kitchen!" Poor Sharon, little did she know 💀
I think Sharon's death was foreshadowed even before those examples, back when she stepped off the road, I believe that was one of the first instances of foreshadowing the death. Another possibility, Sharon isn't dead and is actually a very powerful witch herself. She orchestrated everything, for what reason, I haven't come up with a motive, yet.
If they'd added her hair the antidote wouldn't have worked on everyone else. She was unconscious she couldn't join the circle where they held hands and set their intentions after putting their hair in.
It's also possible that Sharon died because she broke the rules. She didn't drink with the other girls. She chugged her glass first, and alone. She "strayed from the path" of the trial, so to speak. The riddle literally said "Im no fun alone." .... She would have had to receive the antidote before the other girls , because she drank first. Agatha drinking last probably would have caused a problem too, if the other girls weren't there and waiting to pull her out of the vision and immediately add her hair to the potion. It seems like the trials are going to be punishing the girls who try to go against the rules. Like... Breaking the windows in the house. If Agatha had broken the window all the way, the house probably would have started flooding sooner.
I think Agatha knows that that mark on teen belongs to Mephisto and thinks Teen is her son. However, I think Mephisto is tricking Agatha to protect Wanda's son Billy to mess with her. Not only did they not put Sharon's hair in the potion, she didn't join holding hands around the sink wishing not to die.
I would hope it would be fine as long as the coven included her their thoughts, and remembered to add her hair, but they completely forgot about her and probably were thinking about themselves in their intent and Teen was probably thinking of everyone around the sink. Really sad because she was an innocent who didn't deserve this 😢
The only one that cared about Mephisto until Voss on New Rockstars was exactly no one. He was weirdly obsessed with a whatever character... cool. But in this episode we saw who MIGHT be Lady Death... arguably a way more interesting character Sad when “breakdown” channels build false expectations and the fandom gets obsessed with other peoples obsessions. . It makes me sad. Anyway. Awesome reaction as always ♥️

(In fairness, I was suspecting Mephisto in all of this since over a year ago when they were still filming, in whatever capacity -- especially with his connection to Billy/Wiccan in the comics. Obviously for a movie franchise and limited series run, many concepts will get streamlined for conveyance's sake... which leads me to wonder if Teen isn't essentially a combination of all three suspected answers about his identity: he's both Billy, Nicholas and a means for Mephisto to manifest into the mortal world -- this is particularly telling in the context that Teen's relative tone, behavior, and knowledge all subtly shift from scene-to-scene, or even within a scene, during these first 3 episodes: he demonstrates considerable mystical knowledge in some scenes, only to then not know/understand certain things that he would expected to know based on his other demonstrated knowledge; or the again subtle shift in attitude and intention, going from naive to covertly manipulative, from relatively perky/light to near-threateningly dark and back again (as he did in the interrogation scene, especially when he began casting the spell on Agatha where he was initially "strong" and assertive only to become near-sedate in his chanting as if he were himself under some sort of influence, etc and et al). There could very well be layers of identity within him, not unlike with Wanda and Agatha, that are struggling for influence/control/purpose....

The theme that - hey guys revenge is bad and can lead you down a path, was a departure from several relevant themes in the first game of loss, fatherhood, community, survival, and other facets of surviving in a post apocalyptic wasteland. It was almost like an edge lord wrote the second script. One guy said it best, when he stated that the plot for the second game was meant to elicit feelings of, "Oh man I can not believe they did that!", instead of writing a coherent, well constructed narrative. Worst of all, Joel in the second game, was used as a plot device to cement this edge lord narrative. The audience knows that revenge is bad, and therefore wanted something more fleshed out. The writers half assed the plot of the second game instead choosing to focus on spectacle. This is what HBO should fix.
@biashacker I couldn't disagree more. In my opinion the second game is a masterpiece. A story that not only touches on the idea of the cyclical nature of revenge, but also regret, redemption, loss, love, grief and forgiveness. If all you got from the fake is that "revenge is bad" then I'm afraid it's not the plot that is overly simplistic, it's you.

While I understand your reticence to accept Bella for season (game) two, there are some people who look perpetually young throughout their lives. I'm in my late 50s, and people say I still look like I'm in my mid 40s. So please, don't do what others are doing on various message boards and forums. She is Ellie going forward, this according to both Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin. And what occurs in a video game within the female form, is not always physically possible in the real world. All I ask is to please not be so hypercritical of Bella. I haven't played the game and have no intention. Bella is playing THIS Ellie, not THAT Ellie.
Exactly! It’s always surprising to me when people say Bella looks "too young." She actually looks like a teenager, which is exactly what Ellie is! Ellie is 19 at the start, and I don’t get why people expect you to look old and sophisticated the moment you turn 18. I’m 21, the same age as Bella, and I also have a baby face. Also, Bella genuinely looks 19 to me. I think we're so used to thirty year old actors playing teenagers we forget how young teenagers should be looking!
I haven't been hypercritical at all. I just said I was somewhat cautious. I thought she was great in season 1. But that 5 year time gap is a very significant part of the story, both thematically and via the use of multiple flashbacks. It can be difficult to bring those things across when your actor looks the exact same at 19 as they did at 14
People are not mad that Bella looks young. They are mad that they don't look any different than they did in season 1, given that the time gap is a very important part of the story
@@mache1009the thing is also that Bella Ramsey is European. Europeans tend to have different, younger looking facial structures because of dietary differences [IE a lot of US food supplements are not accepted in Europe, incl. food hormones that are incl in for instance US beef and pork products]
@@mache1009 Here's the thing. Ellie in the game was created from a game engine. Whatever she is bears no resemblance to what a real girl that age looks like. Heck, even Ashley Johnson at the age Ellie is supposed to be, doesn't look like Ellie does in the game. Ellie in the game is to a degree a guy's wet dream. She looks old enough to screw, but young enough to fantasize. And that is the cold hard truth.
Seeing them with these baby faces (both Ellie and Abby look younger in this) is going to be a whole other vibe with how BRUTAL it's going to be. I love both versions, I have faith in season 2 because season 1 was phenomenal but part 2 did seem kind of unadaptable at first so it'll definitely be very interesting to see!
