For a more accurate reading of the tip temperature with the thermometer, tin the tip and put a small dab of solder on it to assist with heat transfer to the thermocouple. Downside is the thermocouples won't last as long, but OTOH you'll have much more accurate readings. I know you were measuring the time for the tip to heat up, but pre tinning it beforehand would still help in that aspect. You just wouldn't have an already molten dab of solder on the tip.
I have a stupid question, can these fans be used in a regular desktop pc?. Is the noise levels bad etc?. I just really like the industrial look of them, and if the performance is as good (or better) than the regular noctua etc with similar noise then i'd buy it.
I think you'd better stay with noctua & Co. These are made to have I static pressure made to penetrate crowded rack cabinets also since they are in separated rooms noise is not an issue. I think that even downvolting these to an acceptable level (6-7volt ish...) you'd better stay with noctua @12v... Higher cfm and less noise..
@@The_Bo is? in the same speed, this industrial cooler have less CFM than noctua? i think this are better but if you talk.. i no find any 'quality' cooler same this, in the market: metal structure, etc... noctua are good, but superfactured, (overprice, only for the brand, copared with is.)
At lower speeds, the motors of really powerful fans tend to make annoying sounds. The noise in raw dba might be similar, but ringing and clicking is a much more annoying sound.
You can but just dont connect the power pins to your motherboard connect power pins to psu and deta pins to motherboard and your pc will sound like a server
The version 3.1S in now out and I'm wondering if buying a new version instead of the (cheaper) old ones worth the extra money. Is there any change in performance? safety? Also note that the most safety problems are about the power supply which seems the same between the different versions.
I hadn't the chance to try out the 3.1s version... As far as I can see I has a more powerful spec and SEEMS to me a somehow simpler design but without having one in hand mine seems just pure speculation
You can find them on aliexpress ru-vid.com?redir_token=i-BmYGXbxHNmls5AOsF5zRehxT58MTU3ODgxMDAxMUAxNTc4NzIzNjEx&q=https%3A%2F%2Fit.aliexpress.com%2Fwholesale%3FcatId%3D0%26initiative_id%3DSB_20191128004846%26SearchText%3Dpcb%2Bruler&event=comments&stzid=UgwShHH8mvCrlc1s5UR4AaABAg.91sG0YCU7SD91sIVpsTbFi&html_redirect=1
Awesome vid 😎 thanks for taking the time to compare the two versions. I am about to buy one and was wondering what the difference between the two versions was.
To be honest, just go for the best deal you can find. Even you are showed the internals in the listing that could be easily not what you are going to receive. Also I cannot perceive tangible differences in performances imho
Nice video, I have been studying about getting this unit. I ordered me one today from Banggood. Im a little concerned as I have seen comments in other videos that unit arrived dead. As with buying products from China there is a little luck of the draw.
Not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother during the lockdown :)
Your 2.10/2.1s has the old (2018 model) "daughter board", the new model for 2.10/2.1s (2019 model) looks like the one on your 2.09. You can check it on the official store of KSGER. Also the new handle is better, those 2 are the old ones.
The Bo The Black/Blue that don’t have a screw to hold the tip. You just push the tip in place, pull to get it out. It’s lighter, the tip is closer to your hand and feels like a pen.
Thanks for your good work. I followed both of your links to Aliexpress and both went to versions where the aviation plug is soldered to a board rather than to wires with a plug on other end. This will not suit my unique application, unfortunately. Any tips on where I can locate one exactly the same as Ver 2.10/2.1s would be appreciated. ( in relation to the aviation plug being soldered to wires rather than a board. ) Cheers.
KSGER on their official store at AliExpress do sell all the components separately and as kits. The latest controller module actually comes as buildable either way.. with wires to a plug/socket on the board, or as direct soldered. Hope this helps.
The Bo - Please measure the rods used within (in mm). I paid for one of these 2 months ago (still waiting for it but it's supposedly only 23 days away) and have seen many offers/discounts/coupons for the rod/tip device used by these... But I was never able to order any of them because KSGER doesn't tell you what the included T12 units sizes are. It is arriving with a chisel tip, but I most often solder SMD devices like resistors so I need an extremely fine tip! I haven't been able to take advantage of any discounts of advantage because I cannot get an answer for the size of the rod/tips used by this. So long as the units I buy are standard 10k ohm units I have little to fear as changing a few wires is no problem at all.
How do you find out which version you have ? I have ordered my station , and would like to be able to find out which version it is when it arrives . Thanx for the video .
Lo sentivo dall accento che sei italiano e ne ho avuto conferma con "avvio" nel timer, se hai provato qualche hakko o weller come li compareresti con il ksger?
Have just got the 2.10 version of this iron from ksger's aliexpress shop. I've managed to figure out all the other menu stuff, but setting the tip type is proving difficult. I can tick and un-tick the tip types in the main menu option, but how do I actually select which one I'm using to get the correct PID profile?
Slightly rotate the knob clockwise while pressing it. You will enter the menu for the tip selection. If you do the same but counter-clockwise you will enter the menu for calibrating the temperature sensor.
@@The_Bo oh! Thank you! I couldn't think of any other possible combination to get up the menu, tried long clicks, double clicks etc. That makes sense. BTW, thanks for the video BTW, it was super helpful deciding whether to buy the station
Nice video thanks. I received my KSGER T12 station and like yours it comes up with ‘Error’ on the display. However my tips have not arrived yet but the iron and cable are plugged in. Is the error caused because I don’t have the soldering tip inserted? Thanks for your help.
Yes if no tip is inserted you will get the ERROR. This is related to the fact that the tip is basically what closes the circuit. the thermal sensor is also inside the tip...so without it the controller cannot establish what the temperature is and do its things to reach the set temperature and maintain it.
I'm looking into buying this soldering iron and I am deciding whether to buy the one with power supply inside or the one without the PSU. Do you know if its internal PSU is ESD safe and if the tips are properly earthed?
I can confirm... It's earthed correctly... There's continuity between the tip... The lower pin on the plug (on the connector on the base) and the earth pin on the c13 plug on the back.... Sorry for the late reply
@@hassanul96 no worries... Sorry for the late reply. Today (probably) I'm going to publish a dirty and short comparison with the 2.09 version... Which costs few bucks less
Shahed zzaman it depends on your tastes as everyone would tell you... Someone prefers 3D (I find it pleasant and not tool coll but with a bit of green sadly). So generally if I would have to gift some to one blindly I would choose 5A as it is more similar to incandescent light that we are used too. Color are a bit more vivid on 5A as there are more phosphors on the led. Although the 3D may appear more bright to someone
Shahed zzaman I've made other videos comparing 3d and 5a... Some are a bit more self explaining than this one... So you may want to check them out. Regarding 1A I have no experiences on that one as it is not very common among general tastes
nice vid.. had to mute the music hahaha ..you should just talk considering all the equipment you have seems like you have a lot of knowledge to share much rather hear that then loud music over my speakers haha..i have a simple multi-meter as i'm just starting in this hobby (as a 40yr old hahaha).. but i did a bid or research and got my self this temp meter it's a FG-100 clone from banggood called Daniu FG-100 the reason i got it was that i foudn a nice youtube vid about it something about fake fg-100.. seems both perform well..got a few spare set of sensor wires..and it works well .. btw i got the TS100 and i like it somewhat but find the chisel tip TS-D24 to big was wondering if there was a cheap sollution to use Hakko T12 tips with a soldering station that has a good powersupply .. i gave up because i could not find one..the best would be to build one using the Meanwell LRS-100-24 as it's supply build a nice 3D case for it hahaa.. but that's well beyond my technical skill set. someone mentioned i would need to include a mains fuse on the live at the inlet not to protect the PSU (which has its own internal fuse) but to protect against fire if a fault develops in my internal mains wiring.. i'm not comfortable doing this as i don't really understand what i would be doing.. my main problem with all these units is the power supply ..ahh well perhaps i'l just buy one in the future if i'm feeling brave.
thank you for the comment. First i think the untill someone has the courage to start learning something he/she should be proud of himself/herself ...no questions. Second i find the psu included in the 2.1s version adequate, 4.5A with minimal voltage drop, so no worries for now. Regarding PSUs from china these are my statistics: if you go for the general purpose one (those in their silver metal chassis) you rarely get crap...they usually deliver what they claim at least in amp, they sag a bit but you can always find a decent balance between the no load Voltage and the voltage you need to be with your current (they have a pot outside the case near the output terminals that you can turn with a little philips screwdriver to adjust voltage by 1-2V with very small increments). Otherwise if you go for the laptop style psu or the little black ones ...well... do not. you can easily put a fuse (you can decide the proper rating and change it whenever you want) wherever you want using one of these www.aliexpress.com/af/inline-fuse.html?site=glo&g=y&blanktest=0&origin=n&spm=2114.search0604.0.0.4e737a79N6eh1S&filterCat=540%2C141914%2C4103&jump=afs&groupsort=1&SearchText=inline+fuse&SortType=price_asc they are the classical cilindrical ones or the automotive styled. P.S: Althought i feel understandable speaking english, i'm not a youtube superstar, and i dislike my own voice...like many i guess... still we'll se if i feel to review somthing in the future.
Also another note i do not know TS100 tips but i guess their name almost match t12 naming scheme... If you are going to have just one tip, my advice is to go for one of the BC series ..BC1.5 or BC2 they could work as a fine tip but also carry a greater amount of heat mass to the the solder joint instead of those ultra fine tips. The tips i'm going to have are the K (default, decent and multi purpose) , BC1,5 BC2, C4, J02
I prefer the one in the video. Simply because if I have to work onto something. The tool I have to use have to be functional by themselves... If a tool needs another one to be functional this could be a recursive loop
I think that 5A is more traditional as color. If you can understand what i mean. So even if i can perceive it as a tiny tiny tiny bit less bright i think it's a nicer tint, more rosy. Here you can perceive it better...i think ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RS8iXjlAdek.html
Hello Friend, I'm thinking about buying this fan, with this same vendor. You can tell me if you had any issue if the transport or the quality of the fan? It's sai that it comes with 3-4pin connector, so it works on the motherboard(pwm)?
Ramon yes it has the 4 pin molex... I'm away from the fan for holidays... It should work on pc pwm since it has 3 wires... But beware it will absorb 4A and its noisy and can also be drived by voltage instead of pwm
thanks for the waring! but it have risk to damage the mobo by the high ampere? i'm aware of the noise heheh, i think if i can control the rotation with the mobo software will have no problem xD
I don't think noise is the problem may have yo wear chain mail gloves lol if you get your finger in that your gonna lose it it has more power than linus tech tips car lol 😆
