haha nice video! are you from Belgium? I feel like I recognize the subtle accent ;) I also go hiking, but, as a guy it seems people are a bit less surprised. It's cool you're doing this, my gf loves hiking but would never wanna go alone. I think it's much more intense than going with people. Especially when wild camping.
I’m so glad you got yourself a map and compass ! I was quite surprised to see you tramping across the Scottish highlands without them and that off trail on your Cape Wrath Video! Gutsy of you. Now go do a short course on map reading and land navigation! That will give you a lot more confidence in their use. Love your video’s! Keep them coming!
I’m so glad you got yourself a map and a compass! I was horrified to see you tramping across the Scottish highlands on your Cape Wrath trip without one and traversing pathless! Smart move. Now go do a short map reading and land navigation course to up the ante on your new found skills! Love your video’s!
Hi Floor, great video and great achievement. I'm hoping to start the CWT with my dog next week - preparing resupply boxes and watching the weather atm. I am hoping to make the last ferry crossing from Fort William and just wondered where you camped the first night. By any chance did you see any camping spots before Conaglen House. Thank you very much for sharing your adventure. I loved watching and am gleaning lots of info. Keep going!
Hey Allison! There are some camping spots next to the road before Conaglen House, although they’re not the most idyllic ones. I stayed there, though. It does the job 😅 Enjoy the trail!! 😍
Hey fellow Brusseleir! 😀 Thank you for sharing these info, and also for the discount code… especially as I was willing to buy one soon. I'm also looking to buy a tent. Actually I was about to buy a Durston X-Mid 2 two days ago but the import charges put me off! Tent price: 226€, delivery: 19€, import charges: 130€. That's +66%! 🤯🤬 Anyway, your Bonfus seems interesting but way to expensive for me (usage & budget). They've a cheaper one but so little info/photos on their website! So no go. One more thing. Thank you for your part on the paper map & compass. I was a bit thinking about it but you made me realize that I would actually enjoy turning it into a game and learning to master that skill 😀
I had been looking forward to this video and it exceeded my expectations! You captured the scenery, the hardships and the joys of the walk just brilliantly - and the music is perfect 😊 It was lovely to meet you several times along the CWT and you've now got a new subscriber as well! ❤ Cheers, Nicole
Nicole, so nice to see you here :)! It was lovely meeting you now and then on the trail. Did you finish? Jeff and I were wondering about you at the end!
Yes, I finished on the Thursday in terrible weather. I was wondering about you and Jeff as well, and I was glad to read in the visitor's book at the lighthouse that you managed to get there before the closure/shooting dates. I've already decided to do it again next year 😂, allowing (even) more time to visit the places I missed this time (Falls of Glomach, Maol Bhuidhe, back of Beinn Eighe...)!
But what about item no. 6: The beautiful shirt you are wearing? Funny enough I bought the Flextail Pump in the beginning of this year and I also bought the camara lens some weeks ago. I'm superhappy with both as well. Oh and I'm wearing the rain pants for my bike rides, and yes they're great. I think maps a mandatory when you are on trails that are more remote. And I'm grown up with map reading because we haven't had smartphones back then, so it feels somewhat natually to me. Looking forward to your video about the Picos, those are on my list as well (such a big list, such little time).
Oh yes, a great video Floor. Sending a massive well done on that hike. You had me watching with a smile here, your energy is out of this world. Thankyou for sharing this adventure 💕
Just be careful not to solely rely on the flextail. I bought one and only used it a handful of times but the battery decided it was going to lose charge, regardless of whether it was being used or not. Hopefully yours serves you better than mine 🤞🏻
Where there is no trail a map and a compass is a great. Ignoring the fact that GPS/GLOSNASS etc can be switched off without warning. As you state in the video it is good to know what is around you.
@@floordenil you do an amazing job, we really look forward to seeing your adventures. Do you know about the new 190km addition to the kungsleden by the way? Called the Lapplandsleden.
hey floor, looking forward to your video about the picos. I've been there last year and it was reaaly impressive. I have a question about the tent. I had a look at the website and I was a bit confused whether you have to buy an extra mesh for the inside, or is it included in the normal duos 2 p? Maybe you can help me with that :)
Hey! In Belgium, we have a store called 'AS Adventure' that sells Cotopaxi. I'm sure you can find them online too, years ago when they weren't in stores here yet, I got my first fanny pack through their webshop :).
Hey! I don't have plans for that right now, but maybe in the future. Seems fun :). I also aspire to do a hiking guide course someday, so maybe in a couple of years I'll be guiding people around in the mountains!
Super cool. I've learned to use map and compass in the mountains a few years ago. I must say that more than the compass, knowing how to read a map it is like opening a book. I have found that, If you have decent maps on your cell phone, that it still does the same effect. Having said that, if I am hiking alone or in really remote areas I'll print maps and take it with me. I use openstreet map (cycleOSM layer) or I use outdoor active to get my maps instead of buying them, but I do recognize that purchased ones offer more information.
Amazing Video, just discover you and i think i'm going to become a big fan ! Already had a look at your web page :-) Thanks and can't wait to se more videos.
I've just witnessed a remarkable achievement by a young woman called Floor. You have the most engaging personality and i enjoyed your whole story. You had me in stitches most of the time. Your resiliance under some rough conditions at times was legendary. No more superlatives, I've subscribed for future entertainment. Thankyou.
Where did you book your acomondations? Also can I fill up on food at those huts or only eat there? Very informative Video, I'm so excited to go in a month
So she doesn't touch the ground because of the ticks? Pity. I live in Caucasia and one of the best delicacies of nature is laying on the grass. Bad that you can't touch nature in Europe (
Wat een prachtige tocht! Uitstekende gefilmd en gemonteerd. Proficiat! Ben jij altijd zo opgewekt tijdens het wandelen? Of is dat vooral voor de camera?
