Life is full of adventure! There's so much out there to see and do and we want to take you along with us. We will be highlighting popular travel destinations like Disney World, national parks, and Florida's favored beaches, doing tips and tutorial videos to make your adventures the best they can be, and even including review and reaction videos to show you our honest opinions on the places we visit. We'll also take time to show you what any average family can do to have fun. And of course, life's adventures are not as enjoyable without a little humor sprinkled in along the way, so we'll throw that in too. Take a journey with the Butler family as we experience some of the fun this life has to offer.
Correct. If you just let them know you’re going to the Baytowne Wharf (which is a shopping and dining area open to the public) they will let you on the resort and you’re good to go.
For sure. There are two gates into Sandestin one on the north side of the road and one on the south side. Go to the north side and tell the gate guard that you’re going to the Baytowne wharf or sunset bay cafe. From there you can park somewhere and walk out to the ponds. Just check it out on google maps so you can get an idea of where all the lakes are. If you go out on the golf course just do so in the evening cuz they’ll kick you off the course. It’s summer and the water is hot right now so make sure to fish slow. I was out there about 2 weeks ago and caught five bass all on a 3.5 inch swim bait on an underspin jighead reeled in real slow.
I actually just went out this morning and caught 4 keeper pompano myself. They are delicious but hard to come by in the summer when the water warms up.
Actually my daughter and I just did that recently. They take you by the jetties and then several of the deckhands get in the water with just to keep everyone from getting too deep. I would say it’s plenty safe and they would get you out of the water quickly if any sharks were sighted.
hi great video what is a t,5 jet do they fly them at homestead, what kind of planes they have there and i see they have a shunk helchopter in the place old thanks for posting.
@@omaralejandro2996 they do fireworks several places around here. One is at the Baytowne wharf at the sandestin resort. They also do a great show on the Destin harbor at harborwalk village right where all of the fishing boats are parked.
@@omaralejandro2996 doublefunwatersports.com is where we’ve rented before. They have the double slide pontoons. We even had one break down on us not too long after leaving the dock one time and they brought and switched us over to a replacement boat within 15 minutes. Most of the companies in Destin all charge about the same price. Islandwatersports is also another good one in the area.
Yeah my dad’s whole side of the family is from Washington. He’s got some old school SuperSonics gear he wears out and about too. We’re big Seahawks fans in this family.
I'll be arriving in Destin on Father's Day and staying for a week. Im definitely going to check this place out. Im staying at the hotel Effie by the wharf so hopefully I made a good choice on hotel location?
The hotel Effie is an awesome place to stay. Make sure to check out their rooftop bar and pool. Plus you’ve got a great view of the sandestin resort and bay from there. For sure give McGuire’s a try. The place is amazing and one of my favorites in the whole area.
@@user-hn4mk2kq2k crab island can only be accessed by boat. There are all kinds of places on the Destin harbor that either rent boats, jet skis, kayaks, or they even do party cruises to crab island where you can join a bunch of other people for a trip out there. Other good places to eat for seafood areThe Back Porch, Stewby’s, and The Shack. If you love Italian, give Mimmo’s a try. Excellent and located right in the heart of Destin. The best place for all around good diner food, especially breakfast, is The Donut Hole.
Been there one time and it was fantastic. Such a cool place with all the decorations and money hanging from the ceiling. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly.
I haven’t used it too much since I live local but I did go there for a big event and needed to use a shuttle. We only waited for about 10 minutes for one to arrive and the driver was super friendly and informative about the resort.
Wish I was there too. I see the weather is pretty mild right now. We live in Florida and it’s in the 90’s here. Have a great visit. You’ll love the lodge.
@@thebutlerfamilyadventures I love Florida but yes I rarely visit there in summer! Hiked this morning and the sky was mostly clear, sunny, 40-50s today. First time I’ve ever visited and fell in love as well as with the inn! Relaxing in the lodge rn and plan to stop by reflection lake on our way out tomorrow :) Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it. We love Henderson too. There is another beach just down the road from there called Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and it would be worth a visit as well. We have a video of it up on the channel if you’re interested.
That area between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale is a little too crowded for my taste but it is a pretty area. Grew up in homestead and much prefer the vibe of the Florida panhandle now.
Are there crabs out here? It its so dangerous why are people in the water that come to their knees or waist? Are there boat companies that take you back in 2 hrs?
No I havent seen many crabs but dolphins like to swim by and there have been sharks sighted near crab island. The only dangerous area would be right by the channel where the water gets deeper because the tide rushes through there and it can be difficult to swim against. Yes there are companies in Destin that do excursions to crab island for only a few hours but they are usually with other people.
Very nice state park camping area is good to know my family usually come to Panama beach but thank to share for us next time will come to this place for camping thank for sharing.
Of course. We have camped at St. Andrews in Panama City Beach many times and love that area and they've even redone their entire campground. Topsail is the place to really get away in northwest Florida. It is so quiet and peaceful there and the beach is amazing.
I wish it were that way all the time but those of us that live here know that there many days where the water is not so pretty. I plan on doing an updated video of the areas beaches anyways. I think we have a new number 1 now.
Wow that hike was beautiful. I’ve been to the Smokies but not on this trail before. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll definitely be getting out there next time I’m in the area.
I'm looking to visit Destin in late October this year - first time. What are some good species to target that time of year from shore? Will be my first time surf fishing as well.
Actually that’s right around the fall run for pompano. They’re the most delicious fish in the area. You can see the rigs I was using in this video are pompano rigs but they will also catch whiting which are delicious too. Redfish migrate along the coast in the fall as well. Throwing cut bait like a piece of lady fish or cut mullet will work really well for them.
@@thebigschlitz many bait shops do have cut bait or whole mullet. I’d check half hitch tackle in Destin before you go out to see what they have in stock. Fresh dead shrimp will work for the pompano. If they don’t have any there, just get unpeeled fresh shrimp from Publix. I’ve used it before and the fish still would bite just fine.
