Over a decade ago, Danielle's journey as the Magpie Whisperer began when she first discovered her fascination for these intelligent birds.
Danielle finds solace in the company of birds and often prefers their company to that of people. This preference stems from the fact that animals, unlike people, do not judge or criticise. Danielle has expressed that being around people causes feelings of anxiety or discomfort, feelings she does not experience in the presence of animals. Birds have become not only a source of joy but also a vital source of emotional support for Danielle.
In addition to raising awareness, Danielle's fascination with magpies also motivated her to become a licensed wildlife carer. She was determined to repay these birds for all the countless ways they help her.
It's so cute how he starts rolling around on the floor with it, and then one of the older magpies pulls him with his beak, as if to say "stop being so silly! Stand up!".
As an Aussie, I have a family of magpies visit me 3 times a day, usually up to 6 birds, love them, they are fantastic, humorous and an intelligent bird.
Noises from baby magies are the best! This season first started coming with dad daily. Then couple times a day. Then mum and dad daily . Then mum dad and sibling . Then all 4 , breakfast lunch and dinner. Then after about 3 or 4 months from the start they all disappeared. Guess the babies were old enough to fend for themselves!😊😊❤❤
Maggie's are great mimics. The babies are very curious and will come right up to you. They are very independent birds and can survive anywhere, and they are fussy eaters too (won't eat old bread etc). I luv the sound of Maggie's in the morning in my lovely country of Oz :)
It's not always friendly. Sometimes it's to defend teritory. Yesterday I saw a nasty male Magpie warn a big white Cockatoo with Magie sing, to get out of his territory. Cock gav we him that artigant, challenging Aussie 'Come on big boy, you make me, eh...' Next minute there's dreadful screeching, feathers flying. Then cop car and Ambulance went by, sirens blasting and a woman yelled 'WTF is going on in this country? They should all get back to wherever they came from, not here...'
