In English the pronunciation of "Eye" and "I" is the same, so EyeCycled is a gameplay of words... "I Cycled" x "EyeCycled" hence the reason the site's slogan is "Seeing the world one pedal stroke at a time".

The extender battery does not charge the internal battery. They operate independently. With the extender battery fitted plug it into the charge port on the bike. Leave the internal battery switch off and switch on the extender battery switch. Finally switch on the display and you are running on the extender battery. You leave the internal battery switch off. To change to the internal battery, switch the display off and then switch off the external battery. Wait a few seconds and switch on the internal battery (the switch in the bottom bracket). Now switch on the display and you are running on the internal battery. You can leave the external battery plugged into the port even when running on the internal battery, it doesn’t matter. You do not have to wait until the internal battery is completely depleted before using the external battery and you can use either battery first. I’ve tried it all ways and it always works. To test it just leave your internal battery partially discharged and add the extender battery which is fully charged and you can swap between the two and see the two different charge levels as you use the method I’ve described.

Forgot to say, yes you can remove the extender battery and charge it away from the bike. However to charge both at once you would need 2 chargers, which isn’t too expensive and means you have a spare.

So I saw this in the video manual how to install do the extension battery (below) but i see comments below saying you use it a different way so how should you actually use the battery?? @patrick1978maas 4 months ago (edited) @marcinrozanski328 I asked Fiido directly and this is the respons. I also did it this way while biking today. Q: Do we first turn on the battery of the bike. Drive it until it is empty. Then turn that one off and turn the extender on? A: Yes, when the original battery is empty then the extension battery will work. Q: Or do we turn them both on? A: No. Q: Do we charge them one by one, so first the bike battery and then the extender. A: Yes. It needs to be charged independently. Q: Or is it possible to charge them both at the same time? A: No

It's a few weeks later and I had forgotten that I had already commented on Your video ..old age I guess. This time I was prompted to comment from just aesthetic lines. I love the bike as it is but the extender destroys its visual appearence in a moment. I can kid the old ladies around here that I am a stud when I ride my C21 ..but if I fit an extender I look like an old fart. I chose the C21 for its sleek lines and gears so as to be as close to a normal bike as possible. I'd rather ride around wearing a Bra than fit an extnder :-) I saw a review of yours where you described the app? My take away was that it wasn't necessary, which is cool because I can't read my smart phone anyway :-) 11:20 Dang! It updates the bike!? OK I'll get it. 13:40 Just joking here again ..You are on Grass not Gravel! Which is cool 'cos I only got grass around here 🙂

So which battery is used first? And is it easy to remove and charge the extender battery? I want to take it inside and leave the bike outside.
@IshanAditya
@IshanAditya 2 месяца назад
The battery with the higher voltage (more charge) is used first. Once both batteries are at the same voltage, both are used in conjunction. As you can imagine, if you leave your bike outside, you can use it off of the extender only - but your bike battery will never be charged and that's not good for the health of the built-in battery. If bringing the bike indoors to charge is not an option for you, then this isn't the right bike IMO.

The bike is fine but the battery is rubbish. I barely get 25km on level 2 assist with some hill's. I dont know why they couldnt make a 360wh battery. 208wh is only good for local commutes. I have the range extender and it transitions smoothly to the main battery. When you have it in rocket mode it definitely puts more strain on the motor.
@EyeCycled
@EyeCycled 3 месяца назад
I only left it in rocket mode as an attempt to drain the battery more quickly. The rides I did after this one I switch back to "normal" mode (if that is what is called). I agree with the comment... Bike is good but range leaves something to be desired.
@IshanAditya
@IshanAditya 2 месяца назад
Had they put a larger battery in there you wouldn't have bothered about this bike in the first place. The whole deal with this bike is that it's light and thin. Add a larger battery and you throw all that away. I got 42kms on my first ride from 100% battery down to 10%. I mostly ride on Eco, going into Normal mode once in a while just to handle the hills.
@MrJustsaysean
@MrJustsaysean 2 месяца назад
@IshanAditya the estarli is about a kg lighter but has a 360wh battery so they could've added another 100wh at least. Anybody I know barely uses eco cos that defeats the point of an ebike. It's there to take the brunt of the effort.
@IshanAditya
@IshanAditya 2 месяца назад
@@MrJustsaysean I see, this might just not be for you then. Fits my bill perfectly though... I want to get some exercise, but when I'm not up to the task 'Normal' mode and above work great if I want an effortless ride. Another thing I love about the small battery is that it goes from 10% to 60% in a little over an hour... But you're right, it's a city bike. I got the range extender for the occasional long ride, and I don't plan to have it plugged in at all times.

@IshanAditya I have the bike, it quick and fun and I have the range extender but they defo shouldve given the battery more range. Also I feel as if the motor assists well beyond 25kph, assisting up to 32kph....and I'm not complaining. Do yours feel the same?

Your enginering sense is quite good 🙂 9:30 Lol that is a good day in The UK! 🙂 11:40 The word you are loking for is 'magic' :-) I know it would be a hassle but if you were to remove the extendeder battery and then see what the bike thinks? Thanks for the comment. I don't know what the additional battery controller that came with the range extender does. My guess is that it simply measures the voltage of both and selects the highest. @@IshanAditya I think that that is a guess? Fiido wouldn't invest in a component making clever decisions. It is all down to how the sensors are wired into the battery supplies, pure and simple, nothing clever. The display is just simply wrong because once batteries are connected their output is combined, there is no nonsese about who comes first.

Well, in a way... The bike connects to the smartphone Fiido App (I have an Android phone, but I think the App is also available for iPhones). I've reviewed the App in a previous video. The data can be send to Fiido which has an online "Facebook" like social feed that users can share rides and information between each other. If however the question was related to whether the Fiido App can relay the riding information to Apps such as Strava or others, NO, it cannot.

 1.345 / 5.000 Hello everyone, I can only advise anyone interested against Fiido! What I've been through with the service for almost nine months is unbelievable. Absolute non-service disaster At the beginning we, my wife, were quite happy with the Fiido C22, but after just a month we started having electronic problems. A total of 55 emails went back and forth with Chinese support, of course always in English, before a replacement display was sent to me. But that didn't work either because it apparently had the wrong firmware. Lots of emails back and forth again, with the result that I had to send the bike to the only German workshop in Rosenheim, mind you, at my own expense. I would rather not have done that! Because it's been there for over half a year and despite a total of 50 emails and calls there in the workshop, there's no progress. I've already written off the bike. Unfortunately I have to say that I also paid the completely overpriced 1600€, even though it has been offered for 1200 for a long time now. This is doubly annoying. It's all a shame because the bike actually rode great when it still worked and also looked nice. However, based on the service experience, I advise you to KEEP YOUR FINGER AWAY from Fiido! As long as they don't have a dealer network in Germany, it's not an option. Greetings, Steve

With the second battery it has a cool range. By my experience, 50 km is enough for the body. Flat is boring, hills are tiring.😊 Since this is your first, you can't appreciate enough the extras it has. The hydraulic break. The ability of pedalling. Speed. And the torque sensor. It is exceptional, normally they drag you, even if you don't want to. Cool bike! .. and even the standard battery is replaceable while it is not removable. Fiido is quality low budget bike.

Hi and sorry for the delay in replying. Being honest I have not tested the bike in big, long hills yet as there aren't many in the region I lived. The smaller hills I rode the bike on I'd say are OK, but there is an obvious limit of ascension from which the 250W of assistance is not enough and you have to put strenght on the pedals to move forward. I'd say from a gradient of 5% you start to feel it and from there on you start to feel the weight of the bike. Its presumed that as long your speed is below 25 km/h the 250W of assistance are there, but you start to become less and less aware of it as it becomes harder to pedal.

@EyeCycled
@EyeCycled 7 месяцев назад
Apologies for the late reply. Unfortunately I decided to give up on the idea of writing a cycling guidebook for the Pilgrims' Way. When I did my initial research after the pilgrimage looking for alternative pathways that were more easily cyclable, I determined that I wouldn't be able to commit to the resources and the time to see it thorough. I do believe this could be a delightful cycling journey for those wishing to undertake it, if the kissing gates and stiles can be avoided. Some of the paths are also a bit too rough as they go through farm fields and for those on bicycles with loaded panniers these would not be recommended. Maybe at a later stage in life when I have more "free" time available, I may re-visit the idea. I wouldn't do it for the money (I fully expect it would be a loss making project), but to leave a lasting contribution.

A comment on charging... In my last ride I drove the battery flat on purpose. First because I wanted to know what happened when the battery drains to "zero" in the middle of a ride, second because I wanted to ascertain the bike is fully rideable with a drained battery and third because I wanted to know how long it would take to charge the battery from "zero" to 100%. So, I used assist levels 4 and 5 for most of the time... I started with 40% of battery remaining and after 6.5 km que battery indicator started to flash and strangely the Fiido App started to show number "1" in the field where the remaining charge is shown. This stayed like this even after the battery was fully discharged. At some point after that the bike entered a form of battery saving mode and even at assist level 5 I didn't feel the motor helping much, but I could still feel it pushing me for another 3 km or so. There is no visible indicator that the battery is flat or that the motor is no longer working, so I cannot say precisely when the motor stopped to assist, but it was around that 3 to 3.5 km mark. The control panel and lights were still powered and I was able to use them throughout the ride even with no assistance, so some energy is left in the battery for these functions (probably the reason the indicator in the Fiido App shows "1"). As I arrived home I plugged the charger but as the bike was in a shed I could not see when the charger turned from red to green indicating the battery is fully charged... I guess if anyone wants to be precise it would be like watching paint dry as I can think of no way to precisely ascertain the charging time under these conditions. What I did was, I set a 30 min timer in my phone and every 30 min I went to the shed to see if the battery was fully charged, so there can be a about 15 min + or - in this metric. In my test I am confident to say that it took more than 4h to fully charge the battery under the test conditions, but less than 4.5h. The charger actually gets quite warm (but not super hot), so a well ventilated place is advisable. I hope this is useful.

As I mentioned in the blog post, the C21 comes with a 25 km/h (15.5 m/h) speed limit, after which it cuts the assistance and the motor does not provide any power again until the speed gets down to 25 km/h (or lower), but I just found out if you press the arrow down button (V) and hold it pressed for about 10 seconds, this either increases the limit or disables the restriction. I tested it and it works. The motor continued to provide power above the 25 km/h, but I think the limit is just increased to 35 km/h as per US regulations. When you do that a little icon of a "rocket" appears on the display of the control panel (meter). Its good to know, but I am trying to find out exactly what the setting does and if a restriction is still in place, what the new restriction is after you setup the bike this way.

Got some information from Fiido regarding the speed unlock feature on the C21 Pro: "The preset speed is limited to 25km/h, but the max speed can be reached at 21.1MPH (34km/h) after long pressing the V button to unlock the speed. Hope it helps." So there is still a limitation on speed for the motor assistance, but that limitation is higher when you perform the unlock procedure.
@FamilieSchmidt-gw2gj
@FamilieSchmidt-gw2gj 9 месяцев назад
@@EyeCycled I also think this bike is very good. Especially considering the price/value relation. Right, as you described the limitation can be changed according to the regional regulation (25 km/h / 32 km/h). However, I can not find any significant difference about the motor support on/between level 2, level 3, level 4 and level 5. There is definitely a big difference from level 1 and/to level 2. But all other level above level 2 seems quite similar. At the App there is a menu which request a private key to "unlock" completely. But it seems nobody knows this "private key". Who knows (more about) this "private key"? Very frustrating, if there is a function available/foreseen which finally can not used due to missing information (of the private key / code) even there basically is such function available.

@EyeCycled 9 месяцев назад
@@FamilieSchmidt-gw2gj Hi and thank you for your comment. I have not seen the menu requesting an unlock key. I do believe however that the only thing is it likely to unlock is the 25 Km/h speed limit. You can do that by pressing the "arrow down" button in the control panel for 10 seconds. A little "rocket" icon is then displayed in the control panel and the new limit (yes, there is still one) becomes 34 Km/h. That meas the bike will still provide motor assistance up to a speed of 34 Km/h instead of 25 Km/h.

@@EyeCycledHi and Sorry for replying sooooo late, due to I did not check this site anymore and on my e-mail your comment was automatically shifted into an folder, which I did not created/use. About the unlock key: on the Fiido App, there is/was a section named "private key". In the past (mid 2023), when you tapped this menu, it requested to type the private key for full unlock of power and speed. It also mentioned, that in case of full unlock, it will dramatically reduce the range. When I contacted Fiido about this and other points (scratches and other problems an the bike), Fiido replied about all other point, except this private key, even I asked again and again. After I requested to return the bike back to Fiido due to the problems and no providing the private key, Fiido then replied and confessed that there is a private key for full unlock but did not provide the private key and just refered to the "rocket mode". I think it is about the legal requirement. When I checked the Private key menu on the app this January, I found this Private key menu is blocked (it is still displayed, but in grey letters instead of black letters and if you tap/touch on this menu, there is no function and does not show the next level, which request the private key with warning about the range reduction). So Fiido blocked this function. May be meanwhile this "private key" section has completely removed from the app. I don't know, as I do not use the app anymore, as it need to register the frame number to use the app and by the frame number it is linked to my order/name etc and Fiido can control/config it individually and may downgrade even more function. Let me know how to provide you the screenshot from the app, whixh show you the "private key" menu.
