biggest spider in UK has a 2.7 inch leg span? that is tiny! i was expecting you to say something like 4 inches+, but then again we are in england lol. thanks for the lesson my guy :). i've had quite a few birdeaters; from brazilian giant white knees, to salmon pinks, avic avics, and ornamentals. something extremely fascinating about spiders, especially the way they move almost like they're glitching.

I saw a spider like this in my back garden maybe 15 years ago. I thought it might've been an escaped pet, but this makes more sense. I'm from Lincolnshire.

A few folk have been asking if Raft Spiders are really the biggest species of Spider in the UK, so I made this video to explain: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TfF2zaXMWEg.html

i found a midnight blue spider in a graveyard in the uk, tried to look it up but no luck, you have any idea? was hairy and blue all over 2 tone black/blue, was about the size of a jar lid, was a few years ago now, the way i couldn't find it had me thinking i found a new species, was about the same size than one of these as well in suffolk btw

Why is everyone hating on these guys? I think spiders are awesome. They only get angry and bite when you invade their home. These guys wouldn't even bite they'd just leg it until you leave. Fascinating creatures ❤

contrary to popular beliefs these are not the biggest spiders in the uk. that title belongs to the cardinal spider with a body length of 23mm and a leg-span of up to 120mm.

Ooooh I've never seen such a large spider in the UK. The biggest spider I've seen was about the size of a £2 coin or slightly bigger.

I'm not sure why but over the last few years i have grown a huge interest in spiders after discovering a huge amount of jumping spiders in my house and garden and just watching them they are cute beyond belief, which lead me to watching other spiders we commonly see in England such as the house spider everyone has seen in the bath, help those poor fellas out and they look at you like thank fk for that mate, they are cute as anything, even those weird orange garden spiders are cool to watch, they are not scary at all and have been given a bad name for too long.

I've found some absolutely huge house spiders in my time. We used to live in a converted 19th century church. One day, i found a house spider so large in the bath that i had to put it in a bucket and bring it to an expert who was a friend of my father's. He said he'd never seen a house spider that large before. Still haunts my dreams.
@jamess854
@jamess854 Месяц назад
Could it have been a cardinal spider? They’re the biggest spider in the UK.
@Admiralofthedeeps
@Admiralofthedeeps Месяц назад
@jamess854 it may well have been. They are the biggest here in Ireland as well. But the guy we brought it to seemed to think it was just an old and well-fed giant house spider. I'm sure we took photos of it at the time. If I could find those albums, I'd identify it properly. I laugh when people shriek at small garden spiders, though. People have no idea what's living under their floorboards, haha
@jamess854
@jamess854 Месяц назад
@@Admiralofthedeeps yeah, it’s very possible that it could have just been a very old giant House spider. They can reach some pretty impressive sizes. I remember seeing one about 20 years ago that was so big that I had to use a biscuit barrel to get it out as a pint glass was too small. Still, at least it’s not Australia!
