Im a newbie. When I'm using the Sony MDR7506 and AKG K240 listening to the same bass track, it sounds very much different, I dont know how to find out which is the best. :(
Big Thank You for this video! So many great on-point simple tips. Sitting in the car to work each day I will for sure pick up on the follow the bas line humming and adding the "identify the intervalls" game. Seems like a great practice! Also just try changing the starting tone when I get stuck in the melody seems like an "unlocking" thing to try.
Great point. Extra boring points if the bass only plays the chord root notes. Changing up the chord voicings, and threading the melody through those voicings tends to weave it all together best. For me, anyway.
I was a composer before becoming a songwriter so for me the music part comes easily but the poetry of finding the perfect words and learning all the nuances of production as well as learning fusion in Davinci video editing...there is a lot of skills on top of mastering your instrument nowadays
4:43 that's how David Bowie recorded the vocals for his album "Heroes": improvising lyrics, and they became the final recording. Iggy Pop did the same on both "The Idiot" and "Lust for Life" 😜
@@HomeStudioCorner I was just hammered. Trying to be smart. I noticed that the frame rate of your video was higher than 24fps. So I figured I would insert a sample rate joke to get everybody's penises silky
Thanks, Joe. Another great encouragement; the old 'kiss' approach. Off topic: Do you like peanuts? Do you like dill pickles? I recommend a peanut butter 'n pickle sandwich. Ya won't know until you try it. 🙂 Thanks again for sharing all your wisdom.
Hello Joe, I got a one question for you Even if all the recorded tracks are muted, but still the meter in the mixer still keep on moving when we play (but without sounds) Can you please tell me what's the problem here
Joe I still hear the Bass strings hitting against the bridge or nut of the guitar (or something like a lot of pick noise). Do you usually try to remove some of that, too?
I try to write songs but I would not call myself a "songwriter." I also sometimes take my golf clubs out on to the golf course and spend a day out there but I would not call myself a "golfer" so as not to insult golfers.
I'm recording my CD right now. I'm going to make sure I check out all of these tutorials. Plus, I really dig the sound of your band. I am going to definitely be checking it out. Thanks Joe
Hey Joe, Thanks for the tip! I'm happy to hear that I've been doing something similar-it reassures me that I'm on the right track. I do have a question though: Is it essential to keep the kicks, snares, and hi-hats in the same key as the rest of the project? I'm an aspiring electronic music producer, just starting out, and I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this anywhere, so I thought I'd ask you directly. Hope that's alright!
Good stuff. One thing I'll do to help the punch-ins be a bit more organic/musical is to start singing/recording a little sooner than the punch-in target...so I'm not vocally idle until the punch-in moment...so when the play/record cursor gets to the spot, I'm already in gear and rolling vocally with the phrase.
