I use Antlers for a different purpose than the general public. I've removed the fibrous tissues within the antler.(Bone.) Leaving me a hollow antler. So that I can run wiring to the tips to light it up.

Excellent build. Be aware of the pillow bearing block frames. They have a tendency to crack on one side if the cast iron is not top grade. If that thing came apart it would probably take out a village. Well done with the sensitivity, hard to achieve with those masses.

Could someone tell me what type of paper it is? I understand that it is from Brother but I need to know what the paper is made of, what it is technically called and if it can be found in other dimensions without necessarily buying the cartridge, greetings.

Would it be possible to achieve the same effect without a vaccum? How long would I need to submerge the antler in the resin for without a vaccum? Also, is it possible to do this with an already finished product (like I make the handle, then stabilize it). Cheers

Nice mill. I am building a similar one for myself using a ride-on mower engine. Are the winches you use standard boat winches that free spool in reverse (free spool to lower the saw)? I have been looking at a few hand winches and wondered if I need to get brake hand winches or just use the cheap ebay variety. Good build anyway, I am stealing a couple of your ideas. 😁

I never said this is a definitive "how to" but rather making you aware of a brother printer (no sponsorship or endorsement)......That makes the process easy......I guess you wanted me to show you printing out the stencil from the printer! I am sorry if I did not spoon feed you enough.......

Probably best if you do not label a video easy way to make a stencil, then say nothing about making a stencil. Then you tell people that want to know how to go dig through the comments. 10 minutes of my life I will not get back.

To be honest I don't know!....However I don't think so as it is impregnated and not just sitting on the surface like any other coating would do....Mine looks the same as when done now 2 years ago!

Mark: I’m experimenting with antler bone to use for rope working fids/marline spikes. I want to straighten and then stabilize. I’m assuming the straightening would precede the stabilization. Have you had any experience with that procedure? I’m wondering if the straightening will impede the stabilization. Also, is antler more brittle after stabilizing? Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Donald
@markbilson3775
@markbilson3775 3 года назад
Hi Donald I don't have any experience with straightening but I don't think it would make any difference to the stabilisation as your are forcing the resin into "gaps" in the antler so I believe it would be fine and make no difference to the finished product.
@djecpamba
@djecpamba 3 года назад
@@markbilson3775 Mark: thanks for taking the time to respond. I have the antler piece straightened now I just have to get the Cactus Juice to do the stabilization. I’m also planning on making smaller wood fids similar to the multi material fids Mikko produces and plan to stabilize the wood prior to assembly.
@orion84037
@orion84037 2 года назад
@@djecpamba I am very curious what process you use to straighten an antler piece. In my experience out west in the US working with naturally dropped antlers I have collected is that the antlers are extremely hard and depending on how early they are picked up off the mountain can be brittle. Perhaps that is just the lack of humidity and the nature of elk and mule deer in general?

Hi , I’m trying to do this kind of way of etching but I’m struggling with the type of battery charger needed , can you tell me the model of your battery charger or recommend one that would work , I’ve purchased one and it’s not working at all because I’ve seen that the newer models don’t turn on , thanks
@markbilson3775
@markbilson3775 3 года назад
HHHmmmmm don't know why your charger is not working???????? Did you have enough salt solution ???? I don't know why a charger would not turn on but my charger is 20+ years old and may not have a "safety" feature that a modern one may have...Sorry can't think of anything else!
