Congrats to Sam on his breakthrough in the 400m this yr (44.70 PB) & his 2 OLY 4x4 Bronze Medals! Hope Sam, Alex, Rio, Jaden & others are all encouraged & inspired by MHS & Dobson's progress & success this yr and are all targeting a Top 10 spot on GB's all-time list by running sub 44.5s next yr and in doing so help break both M4x4 & Mixed 4x4 NRs again!
You need to make the entire meet like one massive team event. The shot put is a part of that event and athletes score points towards the total score. And each major city gets a team and can trade players. Have a draft. Etc.. London, New York, Zurich, Rome, Oslo, etc... Outside of the blue ribbon events, it's hard for any individual event to get a higher stance (shot put) otherwise.
Sorry Ryan, and I like the shot (and do it myself), but audiences are not that interested in watching it. It’s been catered to in this way since the 70s because incorporating it within the track programme is the best way of doing it. What shouldn’t be happening is what the BBC does in cutting back to the studio every 20 minutes for 10 minutes of waffle whilst the shot is going on. That could definitely be changed and Discovery+ did a good job of that during the Olympics.
He's a humble man; speaking it from the strength of his support. I love that he's not cocky but knows the mission he's on and is growing from strength to strength
He contradicts himself a bit in that interview. He states early on that he was aiming for 1:42 this year, then later on claims he wouldn't have believed he'd have run 1:42 last year! What changed his mind? He's probably Britain's best right now and proven to be a good championship performer, but I wish these athletes would be a bit more honest regarding what has happened this year; i.e. newly developed super spikes for middle distance, bicarb supplements, etc; in terms of time, rather than give a vague response that implies it's not a fluke and everyone has pushed each other! That is patently nonsense. The average of the top 10 in the event each season has seen natural rates of progression over the last 45 years; starting in the 1:44.5 area in 79 and then gradually moving to 1:43.5 through the 90's (1:43.1 at end of (90's in EPO era). There has only been one season up to now that the average ever went below 1:43, and that was 2012 (1:42.7), largely due to one race. Since then the average has returned to 1:43 low, and last year it was at a unsurprising 1:43.44. Then this year, it drops to..... 1:41.8!? That represents more than 2 times a greater change in the average between consecutive years in the last 45. The idea that all the elites from last year all impressed by a rate beyond historical statistical norms, is absurd. I am NOT in anyway implying Ben is doing anything dodgy, but the athletes know how much faster the shoes, and in part some of the tracks, have become this year. Similar thing happening in the women's 800 and in both 1500m events.
You never cease to amaze me with your GREAT RUNNING Faith Kipyegon:You are absolutely, unbelievably amazing and unbeatable in distant running. Congratulations, keep going 👏 💪 and sky is NOT the limit. It is called, The Strength of a Woman.
It shows how great Kelly Holmes was in winning double gold as it is very very hard to do and with the calibre of athletes in both events. You've been brilliant Georgia this season.
4 consecutive Diamond League trophies. Can't say she didn't give the other top competitors in the world a chance to take the crown from her in the 400m hurdles. Femke Bol shows up and shows out year after year. Most decorated woman ever in 400m hurdles. Reigning World Champion too. Queen Femke Bol. Queen of the 400m hurdles. We wish her another great year in 2025 and hope that she enjoys all her accomplishments for 2024 as she takes a break from competition for the remainder of the year.
What people will remember is, she loss badly to the greatest female hurdler on the biggest and grandest stage. No Sydney means Femke gets to shine...that's what people will remember. Harsh, but true. Winning DL is great for her and her fans.
@@zmililashley Sorry not sorry to burst your bubble, but Sydney is one of the most respected athletes around. Objective fans and followers recognize she is a tremendously gifted athlete who has changed the standard for the hurdles and track in general. You don't have to like Sydney, but you cannot deny her impact on the sport.
