You’ve learnt me so much and I thought my dad had reached me all there is to no but I was wrong since watching you over last 6 months or so you’ve learnt me so much and like your teaching skills keeping things as simple as you can for the viewers. That says something for your videos keep the good work up mate 👍
I am expecting delivery of my scope next week. Your approach and explanation of the ballistic calculations is the best I have watched. Forget your concerns about video length and associated comments. Just carry on doing what you do in the way that works for you.
Just two small points to consider Jeff, using a G1 ballistic model will never be fully accurate for an Airgun pellet because the pellet bc will increase as the pellet speed decreases which is totally opposite to a flat base bullet which the G1 model represents, and that’s why your figures needed tweaking . The second point is that the range finder on a scope is always slightly out because you are not taking the reading from where the pellet leaves the barrel (at the muzzle) but at the scope, which would not make much difference at shorter ranges but would at much longer ranges.
@@hftshooter I’m in the same boat with my Arken Zulus that also doesn’t have a GA formula in the menu, after paying all that money for our scopes you would want it bang on wouldn’t you !
Nice video, just make the videos you want to make mate. No matter what you do there will always be people who complain or who want it done differently. Cheers
Hi Jeff, and thanks cause my normal Friday routine has resumed and my schedule is back to normal, it's beer o'clock and a Jeff video 😂😂 great video Jeff, very interesting and quite technical and an eye opener 👍👍and funny enough I understood most of it.. 🤔🤔😂😂I'm not as much as a dumbass as I thought.. 🤔🤔😂😂 you put a lot into your videos and it's much appreciated by a lot of us guys and gals who tune in to watch, so thanks for that.. also I don't think your videos are tooooo longggggg 😂😂 They're are what ever length they need to be, and a 2 part video is cool but like a lot of people you end up missing the 2 nd part.. anyway Jeff I hope you have a great weekend.. what you having for your dinner 🤔🤔😂😂lol..that's a totally random mental question.. just to keep you amused... 😂😂👍✌️🤟
Glad to be of service mate. This evening I'm staying in Stourbridge and will be dining at a Brewers Fayre adjoining the hotel. Quite fancy a lasagne if it's on the menu. Will that do? 😄👍
Perfect test. One of the best airrifle reviews and tests is on RU-vid. Only think if you can make your videos a bit shorter, they will be exceptional . Subscribe because of this beautiful informative video
Thanks. I hear you about the length. Sometimes there's just too much to say (most of the time 😂) and I don't like the idea of parts 1&2. You are the first to mention it though! 🙂
Thanks Jeff, really enjoyed this one. A very fair and objective assessment - only you could get away with getting on a live HFT course with it - brilliant.
@hftshooter Yeah, I did, but it's FIVE inches, I only had an inch or so to spare on my rail, so it's still ridiculous. I wound up getting the Zulus HD 5-20 for $541 and it works great, it's a full night vision scope. I've managed to pop a few rabbits in my vegetable garden at 3am with it on my .22 Henry.
Top class Jeff, great review and video, your a total Rebel turning up to the HFT competition with a day/night vision scope 😂😂lol.. that's brilliant.. 👍✌️your the man 😀😀👍👍👍it's a nice piece of kit Jeff, and it looks like a lot of fun once you get to know all the functions.. Oh and it's normally a Friday that you post your videos and I sit down with a beer and watch it 🤔🤔😀😀😀 so I'm thinking it's a Friday now, so is it too early for beer 😂😂 anyway my week is all mixed up now 😂😂 catch you on your next video Jeff.. 👍✌️🤟
To begin with they wanted me to shoot alone in case I gave out ranging information, until they heard I'd taped over the lrf. Sorry to unbalance your schedule; normal service will resume shortly! 😆
That's funny Jeff 😀😀 they wanted you to shoot alone 🤣🤣I thought you did really well with the shooting especially with the new scope, that you were not familiar with, and it was funny you hitting the squirrel target that you couldn't see 🤣🤣👍👍 and Yeh you have made my schedule out of wack 😀🤣lol but I forgive you 🤣🤣I hope you and your family are all doing well.. ✌️🤟👍
Good review buddy, I’ve just reviewed this last wk on my channel , infact the 10 percent offer is still on till 29th may , there’s a lot to cover , with many features , I haven’t used mine a great deal since owning but I honestly think it’s a great bit of kit , great review Shane
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so much. You have answering questions I have had for the last six years. How to determine the most accurate pellet for my guns. Just purchased a S400H, best rifle I own. From Tucson, AZ. Garry
mines putting pellets through the same hole at 30yds if i do my bit but i polished the barrel and recrowned it to achieve the accuracy. When i bought it the crown looked like it was done with a hammer and chisel.
Great video Thanks. +1 Sub. Going to check your older content, have you done anything regarding teaching someone totally new to shooting about eye relief and setting the correct scope position. Really struggling to get them to keep their eyes closed and find that comfortable position before we get the best eye relief but they change head position every time they try, keep opening their eyes to move their head even if it means stretching way forwards or trying to get their eyes behind the stock. It's a bullpup whether that makes matters worse or not? Thanks.
The only experience I have of that is with my grandson. Trying to explain to him what he should be looking at and seeing I found very frustrating not being able to look through the ocular at the same time. I started a video on 'gun fit' a while back but never got it finished. I guess that would cover some of it.
@@hftshooter Thank's I will search your older content. It's rather frustrating when you say get comfortable and they are cranking their necks to see through the scope making themselves fit rather than adjust everything to fit them and finding they are in a different position each time. When the eye relief is 3" and they are 0.5" away I know thats not right. Would the rubber optimized/extenders help with and without glasses? Thank you again.
@@hftshooter Two mags and the single-shot tray for my PCP fit in one little take-away sauce pot; I keep my barrel cleaning tampons in another; A third one contains enough .177 pellets for an evenings' shooting. They have a flip-cap, so I can use them one handed. They don't need a labelling - I can see through the plastic.
Interesting video well presented, I have an S410 .22 that I find very tolerant of various pellets, and never found a distorted pellet skirt makes any difference I've always thought the skirt reforms when pushed into the breach.
Well, I only have to get up and down 30 times during a comp and that's over a couple of hours, so it's not exactly a heavy workout. I haven't noticed it affecting my heart rate though no. What I did find was a factor was coffee. I drink lots, especially in the morning. I have to cut back and control my input before a comp as all that caffeine was making me shake.
Got 2 sub 12 pcp rifles over here. Best pellet for both of them are the H&N Baracuda FT. Never ever heard about the Johnny 7, but it looks like a fabulous piece of kit 🙂. Cheers again on another top video!
I bought a few tins of those a while back as they tested well in another video. I haven't had a chance to do a proper pellet test on the ghost yet but they're certainly on the list. Cheers. 🙂👍
Accupell FT great alternative to JSB better price and pre-lubed with Napier pellet lube. If you shop round they are a better price than JSB. Why do they put foam insert in top but not the bottom, they will only bang on the bottom of the tin in transport??
@@hftshooter under Webley accupell FT looking at the tin I think they may be made by H&N 4.52 cal 8.64grain ready lubed, I only plink but JSB's were getting a bit dear so swapped to H&N FTT Remington express compact break barrel loves them but SMK XS38 didn't so started looking for a pellet both would shoot with some accuracy and they work well through both guns as well as RWS superdomes, can't understand it as both H&N FTT and Accupell FT are same weight and use 4.52 head size??
I thought better quality scopes have less parallax error than lower quality scopes. According to the formula in your video its only the objective lens diameter that makes a difference. Is that correct? I was following you at Cambridge HFT for a few lanes on Sunday, and you commented that your CP 10x32 scope had more parallax than your AMX, i have the same CP scope and I'm convinced it has more error than my AMX 10x40. According to the formula the CP should be better.... Not sure what to make of it!
Hi Mark, you got me thinking. Parallax error should be mostly about eye alignment, but I guess it's possible that distortion in low quality lenses could add to it if they make eye alignment difficult; I'm no expert so can't be certain. According to the maths the larger objective diameter creates the potential for greater error. At the range Rex was giving the opinion that the production version of the CP appears to give more parallax error than the prototypes that were tested. I've never used one of the prototypes so I couldn't say. However, I've given the CP a good try on my 97 and it isn't doing it for me. I'm not keen on the reticle and I'm getting unexplained errors that I wasn't getting with my Airmax or Vantage. I've switched back to the Airmax to see if things go back to what they were. 🙂👍
@@hftshooter hi, I spoke to Optics Warehouse and they said it's partially down to the formula and partially due to scope quality. There's obviously no way of avoiding it in HFT when we're using a set parallax and shooting at other distances. I found the same with the CP as you, although I do like the reticle. Regards Mark
4.51 head size definitely produces tighter groups, and if you varied the speed, it would have shown even more. My theory is that concentricity inconsistencies are more of a factor. I had a tapered hollow tube and push pun to check .25 caliber and found amazing things. The branded pellets were at least 30-40% less than the JSB. I use a joker holder with my tube. The head of the pellet just protrudes, and the skirt is braced with the square-ended push pin. Then it is rotated for runout
