This is a fantastic scheme, almost makes me want to do a Chaos army, I'd be interested to see what you could come up with for an Alpha Legion colour scheme, that kind of metallic green they have I think would look pretty sick in a grimdark chaos army.
Yes on my instagram. Tbh ive forgot how i did it tbh. I know it was alot of airbrushing etc. i don’t typically use citadel washes or shades. I maybe have had painting some shadows in. Or used an enamel wash.
Not that anyone can or should go but a new paint range but for slap chop i personally think that the vallejo xpress colors are better. They are a good bit less opaque and dry a little smoother over flat surfaces so they are better for slap chop since they show the under painting of the dry brush more and i find that they particularly have better skin tones with dwarven skin being just a much better gulliman flesh
The base prime looks very Grey, is that istaeli sands only or more than one primer? Im going to paint mine soon and i cant stop watching your videos! You are THE BEST in the whole grimdark style imo! Love it!
In the 41st millennium, there is no WD40. Jokes aside this is incredible work and a great tutorial, thankyou. Definitely going to try this style on my Deathwatch army. Feel like DW wouldn't be as "grimdark-y" as Black Legion so a more toned down version but this is so cool.
This is how I want to paint black power armour from now on. I just painted my chaplain. I wish I had seen this first. Your techniques are way better than mine. Thanks for sharing!!
haha been meaning to ask you for this tutorial too! this is going to be the recipe for my slaves to darkness army :) thanks! Can I ask how you did the initial priming coats. Was it Black all over, then the first brown at about 60degree zenithal, then the red brown just on highlights?
@@TheFeralPainter cheers! Would also love to see that slightly less rusted Black templars scheme you mentioned at the end, or even a Slaves to Darkness one given they are getting their book release for Sigmar shortly. - PS I think you do the best tutorials man, great work
@@TheFeralPainter thanks mate. I like this tutorial so much I might stick with this, but maybe I’ll try a few options first. Kinda was also thinking of giving a bluish hue to the armour, but to be honest, looks a little blue in this tutorial. If not I’ll figure out a way to do that. Maybe a wash of leviathan blue?
I used a similar method for doing Blood Ravens. Just red build up instead of black. I gotta say I love working with sponges for that textured, gritty vibe. I hadn't considered doing it for black armor, so this was a great watch. I am curious if you feel like the armor needs edge highlighting or chipping? Or is the texturing enough to break up the features?
I love all the Grimdark content BUT I have to say I find the music really off putting. The main thing is the guides are AWESOME so this is hopefully just some constructive feedback to further improve the great videos you make.
I work in branding by the way so also to add I highly value the personality you’re trying to create. But the music is not adding to it positively (in my opinion at least)
