Man I got one of these a few months back, a hobby cutting mat (I think mine is 42cm x 27cm) slots perfectly over it if you want to build on it without messing up the wood finish

My biggest concern is, if I’m on the couch with it in my lap. Does it feel heavy on any side, like it wants to tip over? Or if I shift does it want to spill over?

No if uve had a laptop on ya knee before yourl be fine. Dont worry about little things like that. U could easily say “well what if i stand up and not release its on my knee” Honestly its fine. Dont worry about the little things. Most things like this are just basic common sense
