Why are they "shifting the defense towards Tatum constantly"? Well, they arent, they are helping the beaten perimeter defense and Tatum is the one initiating offense and beaten the perimiter defender. Sometimes they mix doubles trying to make Tatum turn it over because they dont have a player that can guard Tatum OR BROWN one on one. I don’t think it’s fair to say one is better than the other, they compliment each other so well. JT may be the better playmaker and rebounder but JB is the better defender and off ball pest. Best way to look at it is JT is the big loud distraction for JB whom is the silent assassin

Skill is only that if you don’t show up when it counts and I believe that what people problem is with Tatum. As A superstar you have to show up and Tatum just hasn’t don’t that on a superstar level yet
Tatum needs to learn to work from the mid post. He works too hard to score and settles for step back threes more than he should. But jaylen brown has always been better
Tatum has grown so much as a player that he has found a way to still lead us despite double and triple coverage every time he even looks at the ball. It's ok he can't score 40 per game as long as he keeps leading us through his assists, rebounds, and leadership. :)

Jaylen Brown has elevated his game in the playoffs Tatum has just taken a step back something’s just not right, where’s the Tatum that put up 46 vs Milwaukee or the Tatum that sent the Sixers home with a 50 ball. You can’t be a first team all NBA player and not put the ball in the hoop and score 18 a game I’m sorry, I don’t care they have all these weapons if he’s anywhere else other than Boston this year and he’s supposed to be the man I’m sorry that team is going home in the first round 4-0 sweep. I'd think of it this way. Look at the 09-10 celtics. Who's the best player? Tatum is essentially playing the rondo role. Jb is the pierce of this team. Tatum is the better do it all guy. Brown is the better scorer and on-ball defender. JT is in his prime draymond green bag now. All JT has to do now is either shoot better or take less shots.
Tatum is a Top 6-8 Player that doesn't have the 'dawg' mentality. Whereas Brown is a Top 20-25 Player that has IT. You combine these two with two All-defensive Allstars, and a fringe Allstar (Porzingis), and you have a Superteam 🤷🏻♂️

By doubling Tatum and not brown is calculated because now brown is gonna win finals mvp and that might be the final nail in Tatum mind once he realizes that is the reality of it gets to him then the double team losing first two games and the best player comment will be worth it to win the mavs a chip lol
In Boston this isn't even the point. They have 7 to 8 player that do whatever the team needs in any given game. The Celtics are the best, not any one player. They are more concerned with trying to win one of the next two in Dalas.
What Kidd said is completely true, Brown is more constant in his shooting and drives and he makes great actions when they are asked from him defensively and offensily. Tatum is always searching for his shot and forces then often also with his drives and in clutch time he is never there. Overrated player as Brown until now was underrated.

The great thing about the Celtics is that they have 5 #2 type players on their rotation. Tatum is not a #1. He’s a great #2. But so is Brown, Porzingus, White and Holiday, which is why they are a great team because no one on this team is above the team. 💪💪💪
it is crazy so far through the playoffs I've been watching a good amount of the Celtics game cuz I'm a fan and once Tatum even gets to the mid range every team has played some heavy help side or even double teams

Real basketball fans don’t “think” about stat lines when watching the game ~ we let our eyes 👀 tell us who is balling, what players are making an impact. Tatum hasn’t been shooting it well, but he’s made an impact on the game. Regardless of his shooting splits, he was the primary facilitator on offense. Conversely, Luka had great shooting splits, played “Olay” defense, missed a bunch of free throws, and shrunk in the second half with only 8 points and 6 turnovers. But you only hear about “He had a triple double “ That’s the problem with the game now, the way the game is viewed, offensive stats. Fans don’t understand, defense matters. If they don’t understand that they can never understand the nuance of the game… It’s frustrating because many of the younger generation, it is how the understand the game ~ even many players … (remember the comedian roasting KD for saying offense wins championships… if you haven’t please look it up 😂) former players (Gil Arenas) even Lebron…many fans simply don’t get it, and downplay it’s importance, especially when it comes to winning, and the things that will ultimately place a player in the Greatest of All Time conversation…. in short, if as an individual player they don’t compete on defense, they will never reach their full greatness, they will have a career full of stats… but in the end, there’s one era where the rules were changed to assist scoring, hopefully that era is passed and defense will be relevant again, and the very best players will be two way players… like all the TRUE greats have always been.
Tatum has been a solid tier 2 player (comps: Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Chris Webber, Chauncey Billups) this playoffs. Highly impactful, but not as impactful as a true tier 1. Nothing wrong with that. The truth is always in between the haters ("role player") and stans ("best player in the nba").

I also want to add the reason why JT stans are upset is because you're dancing your way around his shooting slumps. "He does other things" 😂 cool but JB has been their best player. Its ok guys he's still a good 1B but realistcally second option😊.
