New subscriber here! So glad I found your channel. This will be my first year homeschooling my twins, they are second graders and I am trying to stay calm lol. Doing as much research as I can so I don't feel too overwhelmed. I appreciate seeing your curriculum choices because that seems to be the most overwhelming, choosing the best one. I was leaning on Time4Learning because that's all I kept seeing. My state (maryland) also requires me to do a portfolio review and seeing your video on the school nest notebook just saved me so much stress lol. This video has truly helped me understand. I will be homeschooling my 3 girls, and one has autism, so I know my plate is full. I hope to find gently used books along the way. Thankfully my oldest is 8, so I'll be able to recycle a lot.
Do you use Nicole the math lady with Saxon math? Do you have your daughters complete every single problem every day? Or do you only do the odd or even problems?
We do not use Nicole the Math Lady. We have in the past but my oldest just didn’t like it. Nicole was great, just at the time my daughter just didn’t like much online instruction. They do complete every single problem each day. I have found that they retain a lot of the information and it’s never been an issue for them. It takes them 45 minutes, at most, for math each day.

I love how you made clear; not completing a goal is not failure. As long as the effort (work) is continued (faith) then we shall reap progress, if we faint not.
Thank you for making this video! I'm working on consistency this year too! I am a single mother of 4 who works a hybrid position full-time and homeschool. My kids ages are 13, 9, 3, and 1. I'm still trying to figure out a schedule for us. I fill their planners every 6 weeks, so I know what we're working on and grade their work each week. I want to grade daily to provide prompt feedback, but I haven't made it there yet either. We manage to get it done daily, but we are still all over the place. Praying for a speedy recovery for your little ladies.
This work is challenging for sure. Great job on recognizing the areas you want to work at improving. Those are the goals we shoot for! Praying you find the balance and organization you all need for your lifestyle!! 🙏🏽❤️
Thank you for this video! I'm using LLFLE for my 5th grader along with the 180 Days Spelling and Word Study for 5th grade. We don't use the spelling words from LLFLE, but we do use everything else and also love the Bible stories from the 101 Favorite Bible Stories book!

Some of your viewers (me) can’t handle blood and guts 🤣🤣. Only God knows how I had five kids! Thanks, for the update. We are in week four of school and it’s starting to get real. But thankfully our rest (reset) week is only two weeks away. Lastly, we (me) need a video with a schedule of how to handle home maintenance.
I try to fancy up every so often 😅 She is definitely my twin for sure! 😂 I’m sorry about my gory photo, the nurse in me is like ‘share it all’. I’ll put up a warning next time. Those rest/reset weeks are much needed! I’m actually working on that right now. I’ll get it together for a video soon!
Hope the girls heal up quick! I really believe there is a rhythm to learning and looking back I see where I pushed due to set “grade level standards” and I really needed to take a step back. My 11 year old was reluctant to certain subjects like math. It seems as he matured he naturally took off. I really resonated with the “no longer reluctant” progress. Kudos!

Excellent and helpful review of Malerie’s 1st grace curriculum-thank you! My oldest will be starting 1st grade, and we will continue with LOE Foundations C (also love this curriculum!). I’m seeing now that Foundations C May likely take the whole year…good to know because I was planning to do C&D for 1st grade. For Math, I was on the fence whether to switch to Saxon or stick with Math with Confidence; listening to your review confirmed that MWC is the better fit for us! Appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos! :)
Ok, I’m not gonna lie. I saw your video about what your summer plans were with those supplemental workbooks after you had explained all the fun camps your girls were going to attend, and my thought was, “there’s no way she’s getting to those supplements.” 😂 I’m glad I’m not the only one that struggles with summer plans though. Every time summer rolls around, I think we’re going to have all this extra time for supplements or fun unit studies, and then nothing ends up getting done. 😅 At the end of the day, the most important thing is to relax, recharge, and have fun, which I think yall accomplished! Wow what a great haul! I loved those bright yellow skates, so fun! It is so true when sometimes you get double items that you didn't actually order, so its free! It's happened to me before with some headphones. Can't wait to hear your/your kids reviews of all those books!
My friend “homeschools her kid- but she doesnt teach. I keep telling her to put the child in school a block away under the guise of “time for herself” but she wont. Not sure what I should say or do?? The child is 10
Yes, what do you mean by she doesn’t teach? Not sure the full context of the situation but however, in my opinion if the child is getting the education needed maybe via online schooling, co-op, or some other form of at home education and they are doing well I see no problem with it.
@@LifeofTillmans the child just plays games, sleeps and eat. The father is NOT the biological dad so he feels hopeless too. I thought home school kids had to be tested by the Board of Education to make sure they were on task?

It took us about an hour or so. Also, depending on how much additional research your child may want to do. There were times when my girls wanted to know more so we kept going and of course that took longer but it was fun!
I don’t know how I tumbled into this video, but I am glad I did! Just today, I have decided that I am not sending my son back to public school. Like me, he understands numbers and enjoys anything math related. We struggle with writing and ELA. So I am glad and thankful for your video and I am going to dive more into all the suggestions you shared. Thank you!

Do you have a video of how you put together the yearly portfolios? I save my son's work and staple the work for the week together. But I have TONS of paperwork now. It would be nice to condense.
