What grade or age did you start goal setting? Did you do it together? Did she write it? Is she just naturally motivated or was it a sports goal that translated over to academics? My curious mind wants to know how to do that because she was fantastic. Tell her thank-you for sharing.
We started goal setting about 2 years ago with my older 2 daughters. Very simple goals like working for a specified time frame or completing an assignment daily. We have always talked about their school as a unit. I often remind them to look at there daily goals even weekly goals to help keep them on track. Start with one or two goals and go from there. They choose goals based on their assessment of areas they need to grow in. It’s an ongoing conversation and took us some time to get there but they do well at it. ❤️
Really enjoy your videos : ) My daughter also likes writing. Three years ago, we got the "One Year Adventure Novel" curriculum from Clearwater Press. It's best for ages 13 & up. In it, your child learns to write their own novel in one school year, just as the title implies. It was one of the best things I ever bought for school. Since we finished it, my daughter has continued with writing as a hobby. She's actually writing right now - even tho "school is out for the summer." I really cannot recommend it highly enough.
Do you use Nicole the math lady with Saxon math? Do you have your daughters complete every single problem every day? Or do you only do the odd or even problems?
We do not use Nicole the Math Lady. We have in the past but my oldest just didn’t like it. Nicole was great, just at the time my daughter just didn’t like much online instruction. They do complete every single problem each day. I have found that they retain a lot of the information and it’s never been an issue for them. It takes them 45 minutes, at most, for math each day.
I think so! The teachers manual actually contains the student sheets as well if you don’t want to purchase a separate student book. I purchased a student because I didn’t want them working on the same page as the answers. I have found for 4-6 of easy grammar there have been several times we needed the teachers/answer booklet to check the girls work.
