Engineering is the hardest in which to get a high GPA. But is also has the greatest access to law careers that people with a non-engineering undergrad can't get as easily.

Failed (South African citizen here) following the loss of my parents, ended up with mental breakdown and panic attacks. Worked my butt off the second time around and graduated (could’ve scored higher GPA if it weren’t for switching between work & classes), two heartbeats away from practicing law. If you truly believe in it, you can always bounce back. Keep going in, be positive. Oh lol it also set me back $12K (a huge amount in my country) and I’m still trying to raise that amount to pay the institution off. Thank you Prof.

But sir l sit upright and actually l fight with my body to not sleep like try to strain my eyes onto the board, pinch, beat or stump on the foot myself. It might feel funny for others but I am actually sad about that. I performed various laboratory examination like blood test, thyroid test, calcium level test and have under medication to control the vitamin D level and heamoglobin everything is in the normal range but no change in my condition of sleeping during the lectures. Even though many of the faculties don't say anything but I am not okay with it. Does anyone has any solution.

Thank you Professor. Excited to take your class. As I’ve prepped for the first week of classes, necessity brought me to the conclusion that I HAVE to schedule to survive. I’m going to draft a schedule and fine tune it over the first couple of weeks of classes. Looking forward to it. Not a process centered person, so I’m excited how law school will cultivate that weakness in me and hopefully it can become less of a weakness of mine as I move through the next few years and beyond into my career.

What if the person tells half truths. A portion of the statements are true but many are false

Good question. A half truth is still a lie. The issue is whether others recognize the statement as false.

I was the first person called to go over a case in class and couldn't answer a question because I spotted the wrong issue of the case. This of course made me anxious that I briefed our next case (Polmatier v. Russ) wrong but this video has given me relief that I made a simple mistake and that I could spot the correct issue

When you're in court addressing a motion or response, the judge may well ask you about the facts of the case and what are the controlling cases. The facts of the case at hand will never be 100% copy of the case facts. The judge will ask why it applies or why it should he distinguished. The classroom questioning may be stressful, but I guarantee you that its nowhere as stressful than standing in court while a room full of other lawyers are sitting there waiting their turn are second guessing your answers, or a jury box full of jurors are watching you sweat, hem and haw, while your mouth has dried up like a piece of cardboard. So be prepared and get used to standing in the classroom If i were a professor, I woukd direct the student to stand and address me to answer the question. Stressful but necessary to build up the emotional toughness.
@Learnlawbetter
@Learnlawbetter Месяц назад
The days of having students stand in class are basically over. A few professors do this, but not many.
@ms.annthrope415
@ms.annthrope415 Месяц назад
This cold calling and forcing students to answer and debate the issues is good training. In court, you are expected to know the cases and motions and responses and judges may question the attorneys to clarify their positions and distinguishing one case from another or how to convince the judge of the validity of your position. I didn't have 50 hours a week to study. I worked a full time job and commuted to night class. I took 12 units at a time. So i only had time to read 80-100 pages per class pwr week, write 12-15 briefs per class or week. My week was timed to the second in managing which was was for which class. I had bo time for study groups, no time to read the hornbook, supplements, taped lectures, or any other study aids. 20 year prosecutor now retired.

1/3 people are victims of white collar crime. The courts are backed up with pro se. Guessing law school is not for someone who abhors the ABA for restricting access to legal representation for the middle class who doesn’t qualify for pro bono, and cannot afford a lawyer.
@GracieDontPlayDat
@GracieDontPlayDat Месяц назад
My point is: I hope someone watching this video would waste money on a political campaign to get into office to reform what the ABA has done to the foundation of free society.
@Learnlawbetter
@Learnlawbetter Месяц назад
Why blame the ABA? Plenty of lawyers out there with no debt who choose to charge high prices. Why? Because they want to live in nice homes and have nice things.

Professor, do you have any advice on how to prepare for seminars? More specifically, seminars which final grades are determined by papers rather than exams?
@Learnlawbetter
@Learnlawbetter Месяц назад
Start researching and writing early. Don’t wait till the end, otherwise you won’t do well. Day 1: find a topic. Next, do some research. Then write an outline. Next, write a draft. All done early.
