Thanks for the test!! That means more stuck snow on the wheels... But less snow+rock on the side of the car. So, fewer stone chips on the sides.

It's a great point, however I haven't really noticed any stone chips on the sides and I often drive on gravel roads going to the mountain cabin. If you do get mudflaps, get some good quality ones. The one I tested actually started to crack with just some snow/ice build.

Nice! P2 definately need more Buff/balance sound to get a more surround sound. Any update on your upgrade project?
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere Месяц назад
I haven't added the speakers as I originally planned. Reason is I am unsure it is worth it without sound deadening the entire car as the P2 has quite a bit of road noise. It would be a pretty big job and also an expensive job. Keeping the Helix dsp alone makes no sense either as the original speakers in the P2 is sub par for the quality of the helix dsp. So at the moment I'm debating either to sell the dsp or go all in 😅

@@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere I'm planning to do the same in my new Volvo xc90 T8 with HK. I had some different options from the audio seller but for the moment I'm planning to go for the Helix V 12 and deadening all the doors. I first want to experience what the HK can do when they are better installed (programmed) and the rattle is out of the doors. Even no new subwoofer in the trunk.
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere Месяц назад
@@ernovanengeland2460 From what I experienced in my Polestar 2 there was a significant difference with the Helix V 12 compared to the HK amp. A lot more power in the Helix V 12. To get the most out of the Helix I think it is necessary to swap the original speakers with some better quality ones. Good luck with your setup :)

It Seems that Volvo/Polestar has chosen a quite bad HW so that a lot of apps are running slow. The highly optimized apps run ok. The major apps don't run smoothly. They have made a very common mistake. They had cut costs and chosen a too bad HW, not powerful enough CPU, probably too little memory. But Volvo is not the only car manufacturer that makes this kind of mistake. VW and other manufacturers have the exact same problem. It takes some time and then they upgrade to a better spec HW in the car. Volvo/Polestar is not an Infotainment company. They are used to build mechanics and safety stuff, not computers and infotainment stuff. What about the LTE/4G subscription? Is it some kind of subscription for the car or how does it work? What does it cost? In Tesla is standard connectivity free of charge. But you have to pay for premium connection. With Premium you can streem video and audio when driving (if you have the audio/video subsription, e.g. Netflix or Spotify). Nice video!
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere 4 месяца назад
The infotainment itself and apps delivered by Google/Polestar runs pretty smooth, but 3rd party apps like ie. A better route planner was really sluggish before I gave up using it. I don`t know if it is due to dated hardware or poorly written code. For the future, I believe/hpåe that we will see a shift towards Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and use our phones as hardware. I would be surprised if Google doesn`t update Android Auto accordingly once the next gen Apple CarPlay is launched. Android Automotive would probably still live on as the car OS enabling efficient use of next gen Android Auto and CarPlay, but I think not so much as the UI. This would also solve the burden of car hw being outdated. The LTE/4G is still free of charge with no limitations, but I guess that will change for some premium subscription in the future. Sorry for the late replay btw.

@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere 6 месяцев назад
So far I have only upgraded the amp with the Helix V twelve DSP and haven`t installed the focal speakers yet.. I don`t have access to heated garage, so waiting for warmer weather. The helix dsp upgrade made a difference for sure, but still limited by the stock speakers, so I expect more significant improvements when adding the focal speakers.
@Bazinga4U
@Bazinga4U 6 месяцев назад
@@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere Would love to hear your opinion of the Focal upgrade when you have done them this summer, will you be making a video about it? I'm currently also looking into getting that DSP you have, is the difference noticeable enough to justify buying it?
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere 6 месяцев назад
@@Bazinga4U I will make a video of it, will also make a video about the DSP install. With the DSP upgrade you get a lot more power and also options for making adjustments/tuning, but I would not say it`s worth the steep price tag if you only do the DSP upgrade. The Helix DSP is a great amp and I expect/hope for massive difference when doing the speaker upgrade. From what I read, the most bang for the buck upgrade is adding a sub to the system. (I plan to do that as well, with a focal sub).

@@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere Awesome! Looking forward to the videos. I will have a look into the idea of adding a sub to the system as well, thank you for the tip! There is less spray with mudflaps and I find it keeps the sides and rear panels cleaner after heavy rain - snow just compacts so they are less effective. However, the vehicles traveling close behind probably benefit the most as there will be less spray coming from the car in front.

You have Performance Pack and presumably appreciate the adjustable dampers, big braking power, and driving dynamics - why not mention how that compares? Sure, EX30 is faster, we can all read a specs sheet - but does it feel remotely as sporty as a P2 w/PP? EX30 is a good size, but it caries the Volvo badge. They are built for comfort and this one aggressive on pricing too. I have a hard time imagining they found room in those conflicting qualities to make it remotely sporty. To have it be a valid replacement for a P2 enthusiast while still being a boring (in the most respectful way) old Volvo seems impossible.
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere 7 месяцев назад
I only had the car for an hour and didn't get to drive it on roads that would challenge it's sportiness I'm afraid. That being said, it felt comfortable and easy to drive, but I would probably not call it sporty. I would not replace my P2 with this car, but it could very well replace our Nissan Leaf. Compared to the Polestar 2, space would also be an issue. Backseat space is better in the P2.

@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere 7 месяцев назад
Polestar could do a tech refresh of the Polestar 2 to make it relevant and maybe a big volume car. The P2 would be perfect if they update the center display and run same UI as ex30/p3/p4. Also add support for UWB for proper phone as key and wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay.

One thing to note, OPD doesn't work when Performance AWD mode is activated, did you have that on? I felt OPD wasn't as aggressive as a Polestar 2 or Tesla Model 3, but still worked well enough to stop without using the brake pedal.

@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere
@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere 7 месяцев назад
You can find the consumption in the spec sheet from Volvo. I believe it is 17.5 kWh/100km combined driving for the ex30 twin motor performance. Add the usual 15-30% if cold winter, heavy headwind, heavy rain etc. Subtract some if warm summer.
@Dactylonian
@Dactylonian 7 месяцев назад
I agree. Even though 3.55 mi/kWh for twin motor (pretty sure my maths are correct) seems efficient, 64kWh battery gives 227 miles (366 km). This falls far short of the 265 miles (427 km) being advertised for many months on twin motor.

@osronn maybe it was fixed in that update. Anyways, not a deal breaker for me, I normally drive with OPD off. I tend to only turn it on if I plan to drive a lot in the city as I find it smoother when there is a lot of start and stop.

Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of changing to the Ex30 from the PS2. I've seen the car but still waiting for a test drive. Hopefully next week. Space isn't an issue but, I am a little concerned about the single screen. I had a test drive in the Tesla and found I got used to the single screen by the end of the drive.
