This video is about my experience with the Harman/Kardon sound system in the Polestar 2. I talk about some of the things I don`t like that much and have a plan to upgrade/solve the problem.
I plan to upgrade the Polestar 2 audio system with a Helix V Twelve DSP.

Same story in VW Arteron 2022 with HK premium. The sound was really terrible. Like mono sound from nowhere ... We installed Helix twelve DSP amp and the sound is really way better. Now i am in DSP tunning phase to get max sound stage from factory speakers. I also planing to change them to focal speakres.

I just finished installing the Helix today. There is definitely a steep learning curve, but you really get control of everything. I played around with the settings a little today and already the sound is much better, but I think there is a lot to gain once I learn more. I`m pretty sure the Helix combined with focal speakers will be night and day compared to the HK premium.

I just changed from a polestar with the 8 speakers system which I upgraded replacing all speakers with Audison primas, adding the missing component speakers on the rear doors and added the rear shelf speakers. I also had a subwoofer JBL installed in the trunk. I installed a DSP Forza Audison c814channel, plus an infinity amplifier to power the A Pilar and rear shelf. The Audison dsp was able to correct for cancellation between channels, and tune individual channels. The end result was spectacular! I loved the results. Now that I own one with the HK system I can attest how the system is lacking. It is good but not remotely good as what I had after upgrading.

Sounds like you had a really great setup in your first car! Will you do anything to the current car? By just adding the Helix dsp amp the audio improved a lot, but I will also swap out the speakers and add a sub in the trunk. Can`t wait to get it done, as I really think it will be night and day! Did you do any sound deadening in the doors or elsewhere on the car?

@@Vegard-Driving-SomewhereI just placed an order for an expansion card for the audison DSP. That would give me a total of 12 channels. So I will I talle it. Since I have all the speakers already with plug and play connectors I will swap the speakers first and test. If that works I might not do the DSP now that it is cold, and just wait for summmer.

I installed the Focal Inside series speakers in my VW Arteon and they were easy to install direct plug and play. I haven’t installed my Helix DSP and amplifiers yet but it should be soon.

I still waiting to install my focals. Dont have access to heated garage and the winter has been pretty cold so far.. I think I need some custom adapter to install them in my car, so unfortunately not plug and play it seems.

Nice! P2 definately need more Buff/balance sound to get a more surround sound. Any update on your upgrade project?

I haven't added the speakers as I originally planned. Reason is I am unsure it is worth it without sound deadening the entire car as the P2 has quite a bit of road noise. It would be a pretty big job and also an expensive job. Keeping the Helix dsp alone makes no sense either as the original speakers in the P2 is sub par for the quality of the helix dsp. So at the moment I'm debating either to sell the dsp or go all in 😅

@@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere I'm planning to do the same in my new Volvo xc90 T8 with HK. I had some different options from the audio seller but for the moment I'm planning to go for the Helix V 12 and deadening all the doors. I first want to experience what the HK can do when they are better installed (programmed) and the rattle is out of the doors. Even no new subwoofer in the trunk.

@@ernovanengeland2460 From what I experienced in my Polestar 2 there was a significant difference with the Helix V 12 compared to the HK amp. A lot more power in the Helix V 12. To get the most out of the Helix I think it is necessary to swap the original speakers with some better quality ones. Good luck with your setup :)

Hahah, the start of the vid was exactly me when i first heard that 'premium' sound system. Extremely confused. Even my old c30 stock speakers sounded better...
