From winning the Tour de France 7 times and having them stripped away in shame to making car videos on YT. Why Lance, why?? You were such an inspiration and my hero 😢.
I'm upgrading an Alltrack 2019 S radio to the 2019 SEL radio. I bought the brain and the face from a parted 2019 S. My glovebox in my S has an empty space, but the dealer says I need a new glovebox and wiring harness. Does this match with your knowledge and experience?
Not sure about this. The brains I thought were always in the glovebox. Which radio are you upgrading from? I know you cannot go from non-Nav to Nav without brain replacement.
@@lancesgarage 2019 S radio. The glove box has an empty cubby hole where the brain would be in a 2019 SEL, but the form factor looks slightly off for the brain
I’m going to be getting rid of those reducers soon. I got the 3” stainless pipe in the other day and will need to measure and cut, but will cover that in another video.
Need to work on the camera angles. You did a lot of greasing on the caliper but we got to see none besides of a nice side view of the rotor and your flip flops…
Like your video looks like a good start. Advice - never weld with bare hands (skin)! Wear a lose fitting welding jacket no tee shirts. For your long term health maybe a small fan when using flux core. Try not to weld galvanized metal. Be safe and have fun.
Thanks for the beginner’s tutorial. Lots of people have lots to say but you did declare you’re learning. Many people have to start somewhere. Actually some of their comments were informative. Some were contradictive and not very helpful. Thanks for posting your progress.
....Saludos!
ok, couple of things: 1. grooves of rotors are from dirt on the pads. probably sand or mini rocks are getting between disc and pad causing the grind. if you like driving in rough terrain you should inspect and clean the pads more often. 2. didn't see you cleaned the hub flat surface agains brand new disc (remember no grese there , not to cause disc wobble) 3. good thing to ghrease the carries (copper grease) but.....clean them first with rough brush & chemical cleaner. 4. most important and very honest and sincere advise. keep the health my friend - heavy breathing sounds not well. peace and take care overall great work!
I think the suspension is almost identical to the b8 Passat. I was looking everywhere to find out if I had to remove those three bolts to remove the spring at the rear or if there was an easier way to do it. Would you take on this job without power tools? I wonder if an an impact driver could remove those bolts
Hey do you know if the Vulcan 180amp mig gun that they sell online at harbor freight will be compatible with my unlimited 140 or do you know of any twecos that are compatible with this power source.
A check engine light came on when we did the intake. Eventually the JB4 cleared everything up. New cars and emissions have to monitor everything way too much.
Thanks for the reply! I recently got a set of Golf R springs and am figuring out what shocks to pair. Going between the B6’s and B8’s. The B8’s aren’t too harsh for the daily?
I'm by no means a professional welder but I just picked up this exact machine and the suggested settings especially in regards to wire feed speed are too slow. Also you are mig welding not stick welding you need to try to weld in half circles, create a puddle and keep the puddle moving along amd back and fourth over the seam. You don't want to just drag it across the seam.
nice job. I'm really wanting to see some other angles of that. You should shoot a walk around video that gives a bit more of the results; there aren't many out there. I'm planning on putting these on my mk8, so we'll see how it goes.
Wow that prop shaft, heat Shields and downpipe are murder! When I do mine I'm keeping stock downpipe, no need for all that drama. I hope I can get to all the bolts, oil return line with stock DP still on... Great video!!!!
Thank you! So the stock down pipe has the cat right after the turbo. This design while being very good for emissions, I believe is why the waste gate flap fails on these (why I had to replace turbo) because all the heat of the cat is right there. The down pipe actually was the easier part, and with it in place, would not been as easy to pull oil drain line IMO. I’m sure it can be done with it in place but just wanted to provide some additional perspective.
For the tig welding, you did something wrong with gas coverage, either the amount of gas, the distance from the work piece.. I'm not sure, but when it's explosive like that it's not properly being covered
Just left it open. The filter is behind this so just air still gets filtered, and hole will let water drain. My APR intake on my Alltrack has holes at the bottom to drain and works fine.
Owner bought a couple months back and has recently passed break-in mileage. I’m still not seeing anyone with a chip ready to go. He can run this for now and let the bugs get worked out of gen1 tunes.
