Otis, my favorite You Tube channels are the ones that share music and stories. Uncle Larry, Guthrie Trapp and your channel stand out for me. I never get tired of hearing a great story, my dad and his brothers were great story tellers. I think it skipped a generation when it came to me. I really enjoy your channel, thanks.
Love that song. I turn 75 soon so my time is right. I also planted trees, north of Thunder Bay, west of Lake Nipigon. We were planting black spruce seedlings in cutovers. Nasty job. Had to plant 800 trees a day to stay on. I gave it all I had and was planting well over a 1000. Fortunately I soon got a job several hundred miles farther north doing timber cruising on fly-in bush trips. Those were the days, when It's A Heartache was played constantly on the jukebox 300 miles north of Lake Superior.
Otis - that was really excellent - great story great playing & lyrics, Thats coming from a long time strummer with BS in Agriculture 1979. I dig ur channel - good stuff good people,
Kevin and The Gourds played EVERYWHERE for a couple of decades, and despite excellent songs and amazing performances, could hardly catch a cold from the "music industry" at large. I think they were sadly done-in by the fact that their "viral moment" came during the Napster era when their cover of "Gin & Juice" -- which blew up on the file-sharing app -- somehow got mislabeled as having been recorded by Phish. To become popular for a cover ... that most people think is actually being done by someone else ... and no one's getting paid: that must be incredibly disappointing. Also, "Competency is not rampant [in the music industry]" is the funniest/saddest quote I've ever heard in regards to "major labels."
I lost my best friend at the age of 28. We went through four years of university, a couple of cross country drives and a year of bumming through Europe together. I miss him still. Thanks.
Very nice song… you made me think of a friend I lost a little over a year ago… all we can do is move forward… and not forget I’m sorry for your loss… have a great last show and a safe journey back home… 🌎🕊️ 🌜🌞🌛
