For the record, the mistaken identity moment might be the funniest thing I've ever recorded. I laughed about it for days. : ) You should subscribe to Guthrie's channel and tell him Otis sent ya! www.youtube.com/@guthrietrappmusic
As an audience person, music lover, and non musician, I can always feel when a musician is truly putting in the work and going to the edge. I don't care, in fact I even appreciate when it goes south occasionally as a result. Thats the price of honesty and hard work. Much respect.

One of GT’s greatest hits!! I told McEnroe I would never ask him for a picture but I had to show Guthrie that I told him this story.. he said, “yeah, I’ll give him the three finger ‘read between the lines’ gesture…🖕🏻” True story.
I grew up in Pass Christian Mississippi. My family lost everything in Katrina. Paul Simon and Edie Brickell gave my parents a bed. I love his music but I especially love his generosity.
That Graceland album was absolutely amazing. I love to watch live videos of that tour. Such great musicians and such a great vibe. Great John McEnroe story also! excellent.
Thank you Guthrie Trapp for your stories and memories. I was intrigued by the story of your father, and would like to hear more about him as much as what you told us about Paul Simon. ☘
I enjoyed this immensely. One of the best interviews I’ve ever seen, and an entertaining glimpse into a world most of us will never experience. Fabulous.
Guthrie and Tom "Uncle Larry" Bukovac's recent night club gigs are just spectacularly fun! As good as the musicianship is at their level, the ability to hang is just as important.
Thank you Otis for your great interviews. I’ve been diving into your music and really enjoying it. I’ve been following Guthrie for a while and studied his on-line lessons and they have been a revelation and really opened up some guitar mysteries for me. It’s awesome to hear these behind the scenes stories. The Art Garfunkel one is a gem - I laughed out loud!
Otis, Buk and Guthrie have the best depth of understanding of the humanity of music. Enjoy their conversations almost as much as their musical output. Thx boys.

Thank you both. It’s amazing how animated and excited Paul Simon still gets when the subject is music. Maybe he’s like that when talking about anything, but I’ve seen him, in interviews, so interested in talking about music.
Thanks Otis for this. Been to a bunch of concerts. The best: Paul Simon after Rythm of the Saints. Graceland was still popular also. OBTW, Robert Earl Keen's Christmas show was number 2.
Such a good watch…just seeing the guys you spend some time with kick back and relax into sharing such awesome memories and seeing them really enjoying the moments of their extraordinary lives. I love this channel Otis (and Guthrie’s too) …thanks man …go well
I’ve seen opening bands that I wasn’t really familiar with come out live and kick some serious ass .so I would buy their record and be disappointed ! There must be something about being on stage that lights a fire
The first time I discovered Guthrie was at Robert's when he was playing with the Don Kelley Band. My brain exploded, and I've been a huge fan ever since.
Paul Simon helped institute and fund the Children's Health Fund-: (clinics on buses) after Katrina the CHF buses headed for NOLA relief were stopped by civil authorities- and Paul used his influence with politicians to get them past roadblocks to service these communities. Paul was well aware of the macro effects of Katrina, and using his time with Otis' dad to get a specific POV ( grist for songmill perhaps)
Doug auditioned for my local pop band in Lafayette LA at a club called Poets and I told him he wasn't ready. He moved to New Orleans after that and the rest is history. I'm so proud of him and what he's done and will continue to do. I think he studied with Johnny Vidacovich a monster drummer who is a friend.
Any chance you guys can make it to the four corners folk festival in Pagosa springs, CO sometime? Over Labor Day. Seen Jerry, Tim, Sam and Darryl there many times. It’s a hoot. Thanks again!😊
Otis, there is something about who you are or/and the interview process you use that makes people tell their best stories. I don't see any other interviewers getting people to open up like this. You don't seem to ask deep questions. Being an insider to show business, they seem to talk directly to you without hesitation.
