Scott Johnson founder and owner of Soar Tackle, has been fishing for well over 30 years. Scott started his main fishing career on the local match circuits in and around Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire picking up a number of trophies along the way. A bit of a traditional angler preferring to fish float rods and feeders, earning him the nick name 'Stick float' some 20 odd years ago. That said he is a keen pole angler on canals and still waters too.
Scott say’s “My aim is to pass my knowledge on to fellow anglers young and old. I enjoy nothing more than helping someone improve on their fishing."
Why not pop in to our Kegworth store and see us? Or fancy a day out with Scott, you can book an experience day with him through the shop website www.soartackle.co.uk
Smaller shot are far from easy to use unfortunately. Have you tried slot shot or styles? They tend to be easier to use as they’re normally softer. Also being an oblong shape they’re easier to handle. 👍
It was recommended by a guy who worked in the tackle shop to just use the wife's, Hair Conditioner, with a bit of water, just enough to loosen it mind. I haven't used anything else & works Great!!
Hi could you please tell how i could get a couple of those cards mate , i can't for the life of me work out pole float capacity and shot weights etc ,help confused 🙄

@@SoartackleCoUk I bought my pole of youse a middy muscle tech 6 mtr with a few extra extensions 4 and 4 top kits I bought 2 packs of 3 sensas 1.50 mtr hollow tips and cut them down to suit the bushes for the 3 sizes of middy solid elastics you recommended and use this set up for all my pole silver fishing great kit ,I actually bought another muscle tech 6 for spares , I actually regularly fish it with all the extensions and the butt from the other pole getting me about 11.5 mtrs and not a bother tempted to go longer but can't seem to source spares anymore because I think middy have stopped trading any idea what's happening with them ,anyway sorry for rattling on ,what you think of my setup ?be nice to get an experienced anglers opinion regards owen
Hi mate, Set up sounds good to me. So long as it works for you that is the main thing. Stick to your 11 mtr its more than enough id of thought for most places. You could always chuck a waggler or a small feeder/bomb for your longer line. Sounds like your doing bob on with elastic choice. :-) As for MIddy they are still around. The original owners retired and sold the company. The new owners have annouced they hoping to have everything back up and running in March. They have been posting about stuff on Facebook.
Learnt something new here. That the bush is in 2 components! I've fitted a couple of these s-slides and pushed them as a single component. Now I know why I struggled! I put a dab of loctite on them just to make sure they don't move or pop out. Thanks for this short video. Very helpful
Welcome Jim, find you get a really good fit doing it that way. One thing I forgot to mention was that if you slightly twist the soft part left and right during fitting. That really settles it home.
@Soar Tackle yeah that's how I got it to settle in the hole. Twist left and right as you gently ease it into the drilled hole. Once settled it sits perfectly and in my mind the small dab of epoxy just gave me ease of mind. Probably not needed but I thought belt and braces. I'll be back for some middy top kits soon from you. Great service 👏
Going to be a touch warm over the coming day so they’ll be perfect. Especially if your able to go early in the morning or evening when fish will be rising for any fly hatch. Good luck let us know how you get on with them 👍
Have it made for us Andy, but they’re struggling to get hold of the carrier component so not had any for a while. Hopefully I’ll have some before long though.
Can also make them into "Sticky Maggs" using Angel Delight Desert powder from the Food Cupboard - I keep some old out of date Angel Delight just for that. Don't waste your money on Sticky Magg' powder from the Tackle shop!!
Hi Steven, unfortunatly the rubber floats stop are a single use thing. Although bet someone has come up with away of rethreading them. You could use pellet waggler adaptors of which you can re use. www.soartackle.co.uk/middy-pellet-float-adaptor-2958-p.asp Hope thats of help
Yes very much so. Think it’s a miss conception that maggots have to be live to use them. Dead pinkies are another great one. If your fishing a silty venue dead maggots / pinkies are the way to go. As you say they won’t burrow in to the silt
@@SoartackleCoUk on busy venues in my opinion dead’s are going to get hammered more then live bait as the fish are presuming the dead’s have been on the deck for a while 👍🏻
Yep 👍 can look more natural. Also if maggots burrow in the silt fish tend to dig for them stirring loads of crap up of the bottom which can mask any hook bait and or cause foul hooking
Yes they can be re used. Try putting them in a bait box, fill it with water and then freeze them in the water. Defrost when you want to use them and use them out of the water they were frozen in. They freeze alot better this way and look alot better than just freezing them in a bag.
Thank you 😊 lots in my head to get out on here. I find far to much is actually aimed at those that are already anglers and possibly not explained properly. Enjoy your fishing 👍
