Ha ha yeah the only issue i would like to solve is finding a watering jug that fits in the holes and brings the water level up to the correct level. Like an actual maintenance battery.
Man your the best. Was trying to remove whole top. Under the sticker are all these caps easy to pull off and refill. I was charging on almost empty cell. Did 2 batterues and use so much distilled water. 1 of these 2 i just bought used at Kenny U Pull for 120$ cdn + taxes. Refilled it and 1 cell was half full. Damn... Hey, Thank you :)
That open jump port exposed to dirt and water seems like it will corrode over time and put a lot of resistance into the jump circuit when you need to use it. Should at least have a cap on it.
Good catch. It definitely gets nasty. These have a pretty positive spring pressure they have to overcome when connecting and a good wiggle also helps scrape through the crud. Also i live in SoCal so perfect weather for exposed metal. Definitely recommend a cover for those that live in real weather country.
How’s it going? been watching your videos.. Currently I’m a heavy equipment mechanic in SoCal making $38 an hour. And I have my CDL class A along with other certifications from UTI and welding cert… A family friend let me know about the apps opening up this month? Any thoughts on what you would do and how long does it take to get back to what I’m making currently? Thank you, I appreciate it🤙🏽
A first step apprentice earns 60% of our journeyman rate. So starting pay would be $45.39 or $45.40 I recommend you search Operating Engineers Training Trust local 12 and fill out the application as soon as it opens. Oett dot net
Ha ha thanks. I watched a video this morning of some guy filming at one of the tank manufacturers yards. Then got a dispatch to head out and set these today. Figured I’d make a quick video. Tanks came in at 11 thousand pounds and crane was good for about 20 at 50 feet radius. Easy to throw them around at half chart lol

Yeah bro BHC fired me back in 2020 over covid bullshit. The hook is to attach the rigging directly to the boom and set k-rail under bridges power lines or low signs. No fun lol. Where are you at nowadays?
Well i kinda feel bad now lol. My video was Soo poorly done that entire generations will miss out on the beauty of a true masterpiece. Their is a major difference between paper plates and fine china. A classic mechanical watch and a quartz. Should everyone carry a 1911? No. Are there those that understand all the details and are willing to put the time and effort into a 1911? Yes. Oh by the way. I now carry a custom 320 lol but yeah i get what your saying.
Hey bro im apart of Local 5 heat and frost insulators im a jac apprentice and i want to join local 12 to become a crane operator, any way i can get into the union without having to wait a year to apply ???
Absolutely! www.oett.net/dispatch-hall-locations With the link above you will find a list of all the local 12 dispatch offices. At each office they maintain a list of out of work workmen. You can go in person to a hall and pay about $25.00 a month to maintain your name on their list. Each hall charges a fee so i recommend one that covers either the most available work (Pasadena or Anaheim) or one near where you live. You must pay in person every month to maintain your position. Also to be on the list you should have your skills listed. Example: “CCO certified operator with Class A CDL TWIC card”
Love to see you do more boot vids. Like the other commenter. Seeing that you actually work in them lol... Altoughout shoutouts to our "Dancers" wearing Nicks Boots lol...
Good idea lol i was sitting down to dinner tonight and just told my wife i need to send one of my pairs in for resole. Think I’ll post a video before and after. Although i decided to send them to JK this time… keep you posted
Did this the first time I broke the gun down. The tools especially the L shaped Kimber one end up being more of a pain in the ass than anything else. This is my main carry gun now (.45 ACP version) and never had a jamb or any feed problem, ever. Keep the gun clean and property lubed and you will experience the same. If your hands are weak the aftermarket long round clip tool is your best bet.
Umm not sure your question. The video is from the “twin” ports Long Beach and Los Angeles. Specifically 2500 navy way. The old APM side. Definitely not the training trust. I am in local 12 though
Ryan. I checked the Deka Catalogue and they didn't have replacement plugs for the cells. Have you found a source for thies tapered plastic plugs. Any help appreciated. Nice Vedio BTW.
I have never looked myself. Just spent a few minutes and didn’t see any company marketing the exact plug. I will definitely be looking into this further. A couple of suggestions: First i would find a local battery recycler and see if they would be willing to let you have as many as you want. I’m in SoCal and can find these places anywhere. Second i would look for a plug that can fit. Possibly threaded. I’ll pull my plugs and get some measurements. Keep you posted.
Thank you. I am cleaning my dads CDP II for him and the disassembly was different from my 1911. The spring bound up against the loop and I didnt want to stress or mar anything so decided to check out youtube.
For me if this happened being disabled and I got a huge bill. Theres no way I could pay it.. Honestly this where the PNW boot companies need to invest in a whole internal call center. Where you have people training to be shoemakers, have access to the floor and all their job to do is take customer service calls.. I know these companies run really lean compared to other businesses but this where you have to invest.
Definitely depends on the use. I work where i don’t have to crawl around or put a lot of wear on my boots. Definitely would recommend extra protection if your job is go to be hard on toes
If you have a class A you are ahead of most applicants. I recommend if your able to afford it to look at getting your swing cab and fixed cab NCCCO crane cert. if you get that you would be even further ahead. If you have both you can apply at any non union crane outfit and get some practice while you wait on the “out of work” list at your local union hall. The demand is high at the moment.
@@ryanburbridge thanks will do too bad they aren’t accepting anymore applications Will definitely keep my eyes peeled . In the mean time I’ll get my cert thanks a lot !!
I live in the area. Is there a way to connect? I’m interested in getting in the industry and would like To meet experienced engineers. Thank you for your time.
They made those with the 1 inch sole profile that’s why they look thicker than your other ones because the machines can’t so the bottoms on a 1 inch profile. I have a pair of builder pros and wanted the 1 inch sole profile. it’s just a little beefier.
Your videos are much appreciated. Im down in Bakersfield and I'm starting my training next week at the Famoso Rock sand Gravel plant/Facility. Im very excited. I do hold a CDL A as well. My question is, If I start training in the rock sand gravel area,How likely am I to move around to other job classifications like oilers ,crane, and Heavy equipment?
Appreciate the comment! My first thought is that you are the one that determines what you want to do lol. That being said. Congrats on landing a good job to start. Are you local 12? You have a CDL. What class? Do you have an operating cert? If they allow it show us your rock spread. Keep in touch.
Mine is up in December. Did you take a class or just study. I just found out that they no longer offer a small retest. Now everyone takes the same full test. 🤦 Give us a run down on the general test. The load charts are already covered in most places
Wait a minute !! The reason for these boots are for comfort but also to save money in the long run. If you’re paying a cpl or a few hundred dollars every single year to keep the boots in good condition how that saving money?? That’s freaking crazy that Nicks charged you for a rebuild on boots that were a little over a year old. Jeesh
Yeah your not saving money. They cost more at all times. They are however good fitting quality boots. I don’t mind spending more but think people should be aware.
Hey Ryan I applied for local 12 and am waiting for my test date, any tips in regards to the test? Also I have my NCCCO license does that help when starting as an apprentice?
Awesome! Good luck. NCCCO will definitely help with your apprenticeship! It will let you be placed with a crane company asap. Most guys starting into the apprenticeship that want to work under truck crane contract have to wait or hire on as an oiler. Definitely an advantage. As far as the test there are practice questions on the local 12 page and it looks like very basic mechanical aptitude tests. If your a die hard book worm and just must study. I would assume a “civil service exam” would be the closest. Basic language math and mechanical aptitude is all. You know the stuff your teacher said you would need and you didn’t listen… lol Keep in touch
@@AntonioGarcia-hr7nr i don’t have anything but RU-vid lol well i did sign up for truth but don’t fully understand social media. Just come back here and give us an update. Once you make it in you can ask around and someone in truck crane will give you my contact. Dispatched to Hydrulic at the moment you got this
I just applied to Local 12 on the 16th I have no experience besides being a appliance tech, I’m trying to go in the direction of a Equipment Operator. Any tips on passing the test?
I don’t bud apologies. I would assume it’s similar to a civil service exam. There is a test guide on the local 12 website www.oett.net/sample-exam-questions Looks like just basic common sense mechanical aptitude testing
Hello, names Patrick and I just applied to the local 12 apprenticeship program and I was wondering do you have any tips or suggestions for someone new?
Awesome!!! I personally didn’t go through the apprenticeship so no tips on that specifically other then the normal show up early be aggressive in learning be humble. Are you thinking of working under the truck crane contract? What experience do you have?
I have very little experience with heavy equipment. I use to run a TRAM forklift and that’s pretty much it. I honestly don’t know what route I will take. Just trying to get my foot in the door. I love heavy equipment I am a mechanic turned mechanical engineer looking to work with my hands. Thanks for advice, if you come up with anything else I would love to hear about it.
i know i asked you a question a while ago but now am serious about ordering and love the looks of yours. i see many nicks and some look totally different , maybe its the look after they are worn in but are yours the hi or med arch? i think the med has a narrower toe and the hi has a broader toe, so just wondering if you remember... thanks
Right on! These are the builder pro. They have the high arch. The boots were rebuilt by franks who worked at nicks and builds a very similar boot. Be ready for the break in it’s brutal
To answer your question You have it backwards. 11067 I "high arch" has the narrower toe. It's to push your foot back in the boot to give you the higher arch if I remember correctly. I've done a TON of research on Nick's to make sure it wasn't just another RU-vid shill scam. $600 is a lot of money for me to spend on footwear so i was making sure of my investment. I got mine October 17th. It is the 1964 brown on the 67 last. I didn't want to wait because my thorogoods we're about to be falling apart. I wear a 12 normally and used their measure chart on the website. they say order a half size smaller than you normally wear so i found an 11.5 E that was ready to ship. My figuring was with the 67 last being narrower it would work out being an E. i figured worse case i send them back and order my size. It worked great and break-in was minimal (But it seems I'm an exception most people have to pace their break-in). My feet were sore at the end of the 2nd day and that was it. I put them on and just wore them all day every day. They are still getting more comfortable. It's by far the most comfortable shoe I've put on my feet. If you're thinking about it do it! I highly doubt you'll be disappointed!
Local 12 opens up applications for apprenticeship on the 16th. Really looking forward to applying, complete career switch from welding for 5 years. How fast do you move up ranks?
The apprenticeship is literally time and unit based. Time from employment and training units on Saturday. No way to fast track it. Ranks within the union? Well we have job classifications based off crane size or positions. Operator vs oiler. I will say that if you show up early ready to work hard and you pick up things quickly you will become a go to guy. Attitude is always important. If you can get along with all different personalities then you will have more options. If you have issues with certain people then the dispatch will have to put you on a compatibility list and may not work you as much. Lots of things out of your control. Look at it as a long term career and it will all work out I recommend working under the truck crane contact. Keep me posted. Email is first and last name at yahoo dot com
I’m waiting to apply with local 12 and I’m a licensed operator, going for my class A currently, if you could shed any information regards to the entrance exam I’d greatly appreciate it!
