Clare Torry sued Pink Floyd and got her due in the end when Pink Floyd settled out of court. She got half of the song writing royalties for "Great Gig in the Sky" along with song writing credits and an undisclosed sum of cash.
I can never get over the use of headphones and earbuds while playing music- it's better through a full hi fi system with good speakers and no interuptions from who ever is in the room with you- how can you possibly appreciate this with all these distractions.
@@susanmccall736 when you figure out a way to record us speaking while not having the audio from said hi-fi system bleeding into the mic, let me know and I’ll gladly switch.
Hahaha I admire how excited some people can get from the first listen of the song. Even though Swallow the Sun are one of my all time favorite artists, my first reaction to this and previous new songs of them has mostly been like "meh, it's okay but idk". But they *always* grow on me in time and right now Innocence Was Long Forgotten is also my most listened song this year. So excited for the new album and I will get to attend a pre-listening party with the band at a theater in Helsinki!
If you love Dark Side of The Moon as well as Pink Floyd, I urge you to check out Nick Mason's Pink Floyd 'biography': Inside Out. Since he was a member he gives a specific insider's view. He sections the book out into parts for each album, and you can learn all you want to know and more about DSOTM, and any her album you might be curious about. It's an easy and excellent read.
Also, Paul (and Linda) McCartney's interview questions were deemed not acceptable by Roger Waters, as he felt Paul was trying to be funny. So they do NOT appear on the album.
In 2004 Clare Torry sued the members of Pink Floyd for writing credit on The Great Gig In The Sky, as her argument was she 'wrote' the 'lyrics'. They settled out of court but one of her stipulations was that her name be included in all liner notes from now on, showing co-authorship with the great Richard Wright (R.I.P.). I assume that means she is receiving royalties and residuals of the album sales. Also, she was paid 50 English Pounds for her contribution, which amounts to roughly $500.00 in today's standard.
Hope you both listen to the album without interruption. Please also check out their album "Wish You Were Here" and the song "Echoes" live at Pompeii, 1971.
My girlfriend took her own life a year and a half ago, and this song means so much to me. I can just lay down and close my eyes to it imagining being with her again with her laying on my chest. This song is a truly beautiful masterpiece.
Nice reaction brother! I'm a new fan of StS thanks to this song, I was looking for bands similar to Insomnium and I wasn't disappointed. In case you dig Melodeath please react to Insomnium "The Conjurer" I promise you won't be disappointed 🤘🤘🤘
Escape The Fate was around in 2006... dunno how different they were overall. Ronnie fronting an emo punk/metal band on Epitaph, could be talking about either band. Thanks for the reactions. How he woke up one day and said "Ya know... about some of these old songs.." then did these 3 remakes is insane in the most awesome of ways.
I recommend you that you familiarize yourself with the creative history of the songwriter. There are so many gems of a songs in all his albums but most are really dark.
Apparently you dont get the connections here, they both come from similar backgrounds, they both have been accused of being anti gay, hence the first transgender woman in the video, rainbow and unicorn. You need to dig a little deeper. This is just another way Ronnie shows the world he can do ANYTHING and make a hit. Jelly roll is just awesome as his own artist but the both together brings the point of the song together.
The Wall is in my top 3 albums of all time. Definitely going to be doing it eventually, but we have another album from a different artist coming up next.
I didn't like this at first. Me and my sister were like what the heck! But I watched alot of reactions and now i love it. Its fun. And he is basically flipping off the haters. Hey man I'm a hater but I know what he is and what he isn't and what they say about him is not true. Most of it lol. If someone is gonna hate on him it should be for the right reasons, not rumors and lies. I have very legitimate reasons for how i feel about him. But I still love his music. It makes me happy. Ronald song and Last Resort are my favorites. The look on your face was awesome and i couldnt stop laughing! Yeah you certainly got some not so nice comments but thats not surprising. Love your honesty. 🙂
Hey! I'm glad you shared your thoughts on this one! Thanks for not taking it too seriously haha. I knew what I was getting myself into by choosing to post this 🤣
To each their own, but context matters for this song. You can't really take it as a stand alone single. It's parody. That said, you have to admit the hook is catchy and the video is top notch production value.
@@iamdondawson and that's okay with me brother. Honesty is always best policy and I honest believe Fir are just having a laugh. Nothing wrong with that in my book. At least he didnt go Beyonce full on fake ass serious I'm a country star now 😂 Not a fan of the song either but am loving fck you comedy attitude. Music doesn't have to be serious. This is a fine example of that in my book. Anyhoo keep on keeping on my friend 🙏👍😎
@@fishingforbricks appreciate it! Not trying to bring anyone else down with my take, and I definitely don’t mean to put forth the notion that you’re not supposed to like this song. I’m simply reacting to what I hear. Thanks for chiming in 🤘🏼
yeah, nah, some of the looks you gave just came across as pretty arrogant, wasnt the most pleasant reviewer, even if it would have been negative there is a tactful way to approach it really.
Fair. I honestly felt insulted listening to this, like Ronnie thinks he can just put anything out and I’ll have to love it. The arrogant looks were genuine, and I strive to be as genuine as I can in any reaction I post.
