I was someone who really liked to throw themselves into the lore of video games. PS2 came out back when I was 20 and I couldn't have given a rat's arse about the gameplay differences between the factions, I threw myself behind the folks who most gel'd with my politics/philosophy... the New Conglomerate. What I find funny now, perhaps as some consequence of ageing/becoming more cautious and conservative (with a small C) is how I really think that, were I to roll again today, I probably would pick the Republic. I know a video game is a pretty trivial thing to use as a "case study" for such things, but it makes me think about the demographics of revolutions versus reactionary elements - like how American Loyalists during the War of Independence were more likely to be older, established, comfortable and with vested interests. Young me didn't give a shit because he had nothing to lose. When you're older, are starting a family, have a stake in property, etc. you really just want to go with the safe bet.
A most cherished song of this lifetime. So thankful for you uploading this. This song has seen me thru incredibly difficult times and never fails to bring me peace…crazy how it does that🌹🖤
On high above the mists I came 我自凌霄破雾来 A distant flame before the sun 孤星璀璨迎日光 A wonder ere the waking dawn 恢弘壮景终觉晓 Where grey the nordlands waters run 北境灰河自浩荡 In elder days and years of yore 俱往矣,世事两茫茫
5:46 is literally the entire life flashing before your eyes, all the joy, grief, sadness, happy and bad moments going in one huge crescendo of time and space and literally enveloping your soul in this existence... it represents the limbo of letting go and trying again for the last time, the despair and hope, that constant clash of the storming thoughts in your mind, and the end is not defined, I like how it all just ends like that, and that is also how life began, like that it will also end. All is a lie nothing lasts, but memories.
Yes tht came out with a type of black metal rocknrol dark throne claim black metal rocknrol frenzi and nocturno culto and the misanthropic and yes ieye used to have that
Nah, this album has a motif going on which explains why the 7 songs have similarities, take a look at other albums by woods of desolation they don't sound anything like this.
This shit remains my favorite. Thick and thin. It connects real deep y'know? Hits you deep in. Before it ends you got attacked by onion ninjas and have to wipe your eyes. Never heard a song that just straight up grabs your soul and holds onto it. Its a shame D hasn't made any new music. He's clearly talented and been through some shit. Shit sounds completely hopeful despite your emotions already running high with the sadness of it.
It still boggles my mind how that last sunset, which carries a certain ancient or medieval feeling in it that's almost impossible to describe, is exactly what I first pictured when I heard the last several minutes of this track for the first time.
