This channel is about the way I have been prepping for the worst and hoping for the best. It is a combination of solar power and prepping and bread making videos. Hopefully, people will share ideas, as I don't profess to be an expert.

If you are already a prepper and have a good pantry supply, instant soups/rice/pasta/etc. can be cooked using stock or broth rather than using your back up water supply... rehydrates and cooks your item, while also adding flavor and nutrition!
So, add up how much hydration you need to use for freeze dried food for 6 months. Buying and hording broth for this is not practical. Storing water for this is smarter. The best thing to do is store canned food because no water is needed, as I stated in my newer most important foods to store video.
Hello tour Channel just came up in my feed and I watched and subscribed! I have a question on the wheatberries how did you decide which one to use? Hard, soft, red, white? I've also heard lots of people say to begin you may wish to use half flour and half ground wheatberries. Do you do this with your bread?
Hard wheat berries have more protein and good for rising bread. Soft is for cookies etc... Hard white is a little easier on digestion than red when starting out. I am doing a video soon on the perfect bread loaf for new person or people who want to work into all wheat berries. I have been working on that recipe for about 6 months now. I will be using some bread flour in that bread recipe. I just made a loaf today.
I have one of these heaters as a back up inside of my homemade camper. During the winter months, we just use the woodstove, but this little heater definitely comes in handy in a pinch. The only thing I don’t like about propane heaters is, it is a wet heat. (Best way I can describe it.). We only need to run it for about 10 minutes and it gets the inside of our camper up to temperature and comfortable for a long period of time.
Thanks for the video. Is it safe to store a lithium battery like a jackery inside of the metal can? Do these batteries need to have air circulation? Thanks.
IMO, your video presentation was awesome! You presented the information in a concise and cohesive way. I’m now a new subscriber to your channel and look forward to viewing your other content.
Definitely a good option if youre going off grid. Especially since your gas will last so much longer since you wouldnt need to use it during clear days and run the generator when you domt produce enough
so i got the tool box, taped it up and lined it with cardboard on the inside. it doesnt seem to be blocking any signals. can i line the interior with faraday cloth? does that create any issue if i'm using the box to store my bluetti ac200max generator?
Use, like I said in the video, an am radio signal. Watch my updated video on how to make a faraday cage. I explain testing more. By the way, be sure there is a good seal between the lid and box using the same tape or copper. Also where the handles are.
Went to the link on Amazon and it was flagged as a “frequently returned item”. Resent comments shows failures on multiple levels. Is yours a different model number or the same?
Been using ours for almost 5 years no issues. Looking at the one in the link I have under description, I see no frequently returned item. Almost 3,000 4.1 ratings.
Came for the excellent video and wound up with several good tips from both video and preps: ms was hit by the same ice storm in 2021. we had gas logs and gas stove for heat put coolers on the deck and broke sheets of ice and snow off the cars and put those in the cooler to keep food frozen: nobody believed it would get that bad here but I made a huge canned food run a day or two before just in case
Thank you for watching. For me, AM/FM & Weather alerts are enough. Short wave is nice, but I doubt I would use it much. I have ham radios that I have used in emergencies and videos about them.
I have the Midland. My fiancee has gotten me two of them because the first one stopped charging. Imay look into changing the battery on it, but even with the new one we’ve had some difficulty getting it to full charge. The original one has some rattles inside it…the outer shell IS pretty hard, but it seems to have not stood up to drop too well, and I’m not so sure the crank works much at all, but I’m gld its there nonetheless in case I ever HAD to find out. I still like the unit though, and I’ll probably continue to get the same one. The newermodel however has a straight puul out antenna so you can’t adjust it like you could with the old one which is annoying because we use it to listen to radio in the mountains where its hard to get a signal. I think if Midland DID pu SOS AND shortwave on it, it would be perfect and have just about everything I could want or need. Unless they really wanted to make it perfect and put all band and a transmitter!
ive tryed them all im out door mountan guy the crank and solar ones are a joke and worthless to recharge anything not even self....spend 25 bucks get a good little sony at wall mart and xtree batts.....
I'm just hoping that Midland might one day update their portable ER E+READY line of products to include: - S.A.M.E. technology - a home/travelling mode like the HH54 - language option (like the WR products)
@@LoneStarPrepping Yeah, at first glance I do like the design of the Sidekick in general (SAME, crank, solar, AM/FM, bluetooth, etc). But the form factor is pretty big, knobs/buttons are weirdly placed, but most annoying thing is the non replaceable battery. We all know what happen to an internal battery over the years... An ER310 with S.A.M.E. would be nearly perfect for an all-in-one solution at home and while travelling.
@@LoneStarPrepping Just if anyone is wondering, I've actually sent an email to Midland about it. They replied the following: "We do not foresee having portable radios with S.A.M.E. technology in our ER E+READY product lineup. The benefit of these on-the-go emergency radios is that you receive local weather at the press of a button, no matter where in the United States you travel, with no programming needed".
I enjoyed your video. You obviously know what you are doing however I'm surprised you mentioned "if your pipes freeze" but no mention of human waste removal in the event your pipes do freeze. You won't be flushing your toilet with frozen pipes.
Good info presented very well! Consider wild sources of vitamin C, such as lamb’s quarters, pine/spruce/fir needles, and elderberry. Experiment using these now rather than when you have no other choice.
I grew up in communism in Romania. You can live with no electricity. You do need water and a roof over your head and a couple of oil lamps for light and a bit of heat. We had natural gas at the stove/cooking range and we used it to heat water to wash ourselves and also to keep warm. Books are great. People need to focus on the basics if the SHTF. We lived in an apartment. Every fall we stocked up with potatoes and cabbage and carrots etc, whatever we could find, mom canned whatever she could. Candles are great, stock up on matches.
Thank you for your comment. People are way too dependent on power. If you watch my other video about how to survive an emp, you will see a complete different picture. It will not be the way you describe here in the USA until after maybe 75% or so the population dies, in my opinion.
The easiest way to protect your electrical Device is line your faraday cage with foam Rubber. No matter what a EMP charge isn't going to effect what is inside. Just Remember to put it in the bottom and top also. or you can just wrap your device in foam Rubber and that will also work. Just use some good tape and make sure there is no gaps. you don't need to spend a lot of money. Foam Rubber is cheap.
@@bobandrews-vo9wy The easiest way is to do it the way I show here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGJiDzq43i0.htmlsi=8RfOocvDFTzUxAqI Foam works as well and so does cardboard. All you are doing is insulating items that have metal on the outside from touching the can inside. My way is easier and simpler.
Great video. One question, I understand that an emp would not damage normal batteries, car batteries or solar panels, am I right. Or should one protect portable or back up solar panels in a FC?
Nobody knows for sure what will happen, but from my research, I believe you are correct. I also believe if panels are not plugged into the grid, most will survive.
Thank you for the review. I live in Northern Arizona and our reception out here is tragic. Attempting to experiment with different external antennas. Gov't broadcasts always sound like something from 1942! 🤔
Theres a guy on YT with a vid that shows how to make one. I bought all the parts and made it. Cost 25.00, but its very flimsy and doesnt work as well as my $6.50 antenna.
We have an issue with the power cord coming out sometimes if we move the radio just a bit. We ran our batteries down twice. Just be sure to double check the connection when moving it.
I purchased this Midland Weather Alert Radio several years ago... I am grateful for the peace of mind that it provides! ❤ These alerts will save many lives! ❤ ❤ It's a Great Value 💰 / I'm totally satisfied! ❤️🇺🇸❤️
