Little Stint nhỏ , dễ thương quá .
Another interesting video full of stunning bird life. Good, clear footage of the house sparrows which i don't think are as numerous as they used to be.
@@jonathanwilkinson1461 You’re right there Jon, it wouldn’t be the same if it was predictable. There’s always a chance of one of the American birds turning up! We’ve had a fair number over the last few years.
You have captured stunning wildlife at Slimbridge. We have long wagon trains, up here, like the one in your video. I think they take wood chips to Drax power station. Thank you.
Thank you Florence, they're great cameras but recording flying birds can be tricky. Not so bad with the larger ones like Marsh Harriers but almost impossible with passerines.
The Rook (Rucus frugilegus) is a large corvid native to Eurasia, it is the only extant species of the genus Rucus and it is split into two subspecies: the Western Rook (Rucus frugilegus frugilegus) and the Eastern Rook (Rucus frugilegus pastinator).
Hello! What a lovely video with all aspects of nature in this season ! Curlews, ruff, coming back of the greylags ! And the butterflies, the sheep, the view of the countryside and the berries ! It’s really nice and I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you. Good luck with this autumn (in a few days officially). 😊😊👋👋👍👍🦋🐦🐤🌿🌱‼️
Thank you Mai, I was on holiday in Dorset last week with poor internet so just catching up! Yes Autumn, hope it proves to be a good one for both of us! Take care and good luck! ☘️☘️ 😊☘️☘️
Sadly Colin I’m already there. Keep having to ask folks to repeat things and have to turn subtitles on on the telly. Going to have to sort out a hearing aid!
Hello ! Wonderful closeups of so many birds! Green sandpipers and snipes, fluffy young moorhen, black tailed godwits, shiny lapwing! And more! I get the meaning of mowing the grass but I’m glad they keep a few flowers ! That goes very well with birds! Thank you for this video full of perfect closeups. Wished I were there ! Best of luck as you seem to have fair weather !😊😊👋👋🍀🍀🐦🐤‼️
Thank you Patricia! Yes the mowing meant there was nothing from the Discovery Hide when there had been Ruff and Godwits on the previous visit and the Godwits had moved to the Rushy river seen in the sandpiper shots but they were flushed by a Marsh Harrier which was out of shot! At least the mowing means we should have clearer views of any small waders such as the White Rumped Sandpiper seen last year. I wish the fair weather had lasted but we’ve had 40 mph winds and a fair amount of rain since then. Thanks once again for taking the time to comment and best of luck as always! 😊😊🍀🍀🤞🤞
Thank you Jon, I visited Caldey the day before and it was lovely but I failed to spot any Red Squirrels so definitely going back in the hope of seeing them!
Hello! Well spotted ! But why is it alone? It should have its friends too! We see them sometimes but always far away. No closeups possible. Their breeding plumage is really something when it is possible to see it. Best wishes for autumn migration !🐦🐤🐦🐤📷💻‼️
Thanks Patricia, I have only seen photos of their breeding plumage which is gorgeous. I’d love to see that! It did have a partner for a couple of days but that one moved on. I wish you all the best with Autumn migration too! ‼️🐤🐦⬛🦉🦅
There's been one on Cheddar Reservoir too in the last few days. Lovely bird in all plumages. You should get down Cheddar if you can John, loads of CR Plover, Curlew Sand, Ruff, Stint etc.
@@johnluk it's been drained recently which has created some good scrapes, but wouldn't be surprised if things have drastically changed after the last two days heavy rain however!
In my local reserve (Goldcliff), two of the pools are completely dry now. The Third pool has had too much water for ages but is beginning to reveal islands of mud, perfect for waders. Sadly they delegated the design of the new predator fence to somebody seemingly without any thought for birders and there is a rectangular mesh between us and the birds which is not ideal!
@@johnluk Thank you! It appeared on my algorithm this morning and was a really wonderful way to start my day!😊 I often watch Redshanks near me on the N Wales coast - Common, I think, although now I’ve had a chance to see them next to Spotted thanks to your video,I’m not so sure! Anyway, I love watching all Waders whatever they’re called! Thank you so much again for sharing. 👍
@@angharadtaunton5627 thank you Angharad. Before I knew better I was always looking out for particularly dark Redshanks as Spotted, like the black ones you see in the reference books, but in the winter and spring Spotted are much lighter than Common, really white underneath. Then just before they migrate, like photographic paper exposed to light, their feathers turn black with just a few speckles of white. The one in the video is half way through changing back to winter plumage. The longer, thinner slightly downturned bill is a good identifier if the bird is seen in silhouette. Good luck with spotting one!
Hello John! What a good time I had watching this! Those shanks were really funny: yawning and stubbornly standing on one leg! Avocet too! To tell you the truth red and spotted redshanks were always possible to see in tiny numbers here but now all brackish ponds have been covered in solar panels. No more shanks at all. Watching your video really reminded me of the old times in Minsmere. It was a joy. Very big closeups by the way and so neat! That’s great! Thank you indeed!👋👋🙏🙏‼️
Thanks for the encouragement Patricia. Slimbridge is a great place for close views, the hides are so well placed. I haven’t been to Minsmere yet. I really ought to make the effort although a five hour drive -257 miles is a bit intimidating. Sorry to hear what they’ve done to your wader ponds. It’s so important to conserve areas for wildlife or create new ones in mitigation of habitat lost. Good luck with your birding!👍👍‼️
@@johnluk Thank you indeed. It’s still too hot for going out and birds keep to the North. Minsmere is indeed a long way for you to go. And since you have Slimbridge it’s good. In winter in Minsmere I remember every time there were snow buntings which I only saw in Iceland otherwise ( and very few!). I’m glad Slimbridge is prosperous (WWT isn’t it?). Good luck for more!😊🐦🐦👋‼️
Thanks Paul, hope we can get something done about the Stalag Luft 3 fencing. That mesh becomes a solid steel screen when viewed at an angle and spoils the view when it’s viewed head on.
Thank you Sarah, I thought Tree Pipit straight away but to be honest I had to double check with more experienced birders before committing. The heavier bill, shorter hind toe and heavier spotting are the clinchers apparently. Hope you get to see one soon. On passage in the Autumn and Spring are the most likely times in Goldcliff but they have been seen during the breeding season in the woodland opposite the Tidenham Chase car park and I saw one in Aberbargoed Grasslands when looking for Marsh Fritillaries.
