I can't believe they are alive, forget that they are still playing since 1963! No one would expect that in 1965,that they would be playing around fifty years later, it's just unreal.
How happy are we that there was video recording these 60's and 70's bands back in the day? Hearing these great bands is wonderful but seeing them sing it live or even lip synced is fantastic! It's hard to believe they are still performing.
Brian’s quip that Mick was popular with men was brilliant and he answered the question that barbers in Britain were now starving. So unfortunate that he got so heavily into drugs and that they ruined all aspects of his life.
Mike Douglas introducing live female meat to the stones is very cringy, and Brian is moving too much and interjecting embarrassing comments as if he thinks he is the leader of the band, but he wouldn't even shake Mikes hand in the introductions after the 2nd song. That 2nd song was not live, it faded away at the end and had multiple vocals that weren't there. In the 4th song, Mick wasn't singing close enough to the microphone to even try to make their playing look like it was live. At least Keith tried to make his guitar playing look live. On their first song, which was live, I could only hear Brian's amp, I could barely hear Keith's guitar, and I just saw Bill playing the bass but couldn't hear him. Had Brian told everyone on the studio that they only needed to pick up the sound from his guitar amp?
This band is an absolute phenomenon...who would have thought that in 2024 this band would still be filling entire stadiums and getting several generations excited? Who?
If the camera work seems to be especially close-up, particularly when focusing on Mick Jagger, it's because the boys had, uh, augmented their physical appearances a little bit. As the show's associate producer Donalie Fitzgerald recalled some years later, "Nobody noticed until they were in place, on camera, live. Every one of them had removed his socks, rolled them up, and stuck them in their respective crotches. It was a grotesque look anywhere, and this was a teenage television show, live, on the air. No makeup, no rehearsal, no socks. Just large bulges where their penises might have been. It disgusted me. From the control room, we told all three cameramen to stay away from the Stones' pants' bulges. We saw a lot of Mick's spindly, flailing, dancing tennis shoes that day." How sophomoric. How vulgar. How rude. How stupid. How ridiculously rock & roll.
The IATSE Local 38 - Detroit crew at the Pontiac Silverdome getting things done. Get it up, get it on and break it down for the next town. Enjoyed video very much.
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video on the Stones 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out thhe movie on RU-vid. 😀
I was born that year. Although I would have loved to have grown up to 1960s psychedelic era as a young adult, being my luck, it would have come with a hell of a price. Vietnam. As in draft.
